I'm at a juncture in my life where I'm looking at career paths to pursue formal accreditation in. Nutrition, health, wellness, and natural living have been passions of mine (bordering on obsession at times) for a decade, so naturally I'm considering this as a path, specifically nutrition. Plus, of course, I want to spread word of this lifestyle - a natural extension of the beauty and joy it has brought into my life.
And I'm sure I'm not alone here.
I have done some research on holistically-oriented nutrition schools, knowing in advance that I would come up against a lot of conflicting dietary philosophies, which is exactly what happened. My findings ruled out most of what I looked into.
However, there's a school called Institute for Integrative Nutrition, based out of New York but also available online, which seems like it has a VERY loose and basic curriculum (only takes a year for the training and you get a certificate as a "Health Coach"). It seems like the only one that I would be able to succeed in getting the training from and still get away with promoting my own dietary philosophy. Really what I want out of this is the certification, not the "knowledge". Of course, I would hope to learn *some* things, and hopefully what I learn will be able to help support and back 811, from a scientific point of view.
I'm also nervous that I'll come up against so much disinformation that my head will explode.
But getting to my point: has anyone else here gone that route? Gotten some sort of certification or degree in nutrition and lives and promotes this lifestyle? Any compatible schools?
Anyone working professionally in nutrition coaching without certification?
I'm at a point where I need a new way to earn a living, preferably doing something I love, but the moving in a direction *away* from "risk". Desiring stability and security in my life.
Thanks guys.
