b6 detremental?!

Side Effects of Vitamin B6 Supplements

Vitamin B6 from food doesn't cause side effects at any dose, but high intake from B6 supplements, which are made with the active ingredient pyridoxine, can have detrimental side effects. Specifically, taking between 1 and 6 grams of pyridoxine daily for 1 to 3 years has been found to cause trauma to the nervous system. Chronic side effects of high doses of vitamin B6 could lead to inability to coordinate movements, skin lesions, light sensitivity, nausea and heartburn.

Food sources of vitamin B6 include fish, beef liver, starchy vegetables and non-citrus fruits.

so I am so confused...is this contradicting first of all like old cultures that are the longest, healthiest people on earth?  is b-6 really bad in this case?

I am taking b-12 supplements and it has b-6 added for whatever reason to it...and got me second guessing everything.

Help, share your wisdom!

  • First things first--get blood tested now, then biannually henceforth to track patterns.  Always ideal to supplement based on knowledge of deficiency, not just because.

If you're worried about the b6, just find one with pure b12, again only if necessary.

Injection, such as the methyl from www.trimnutrition.com, is the best way to raise a low 12 level.   Based on your needs, you might require just a single concentrated regimen yearly to replenish.
