Hello! I'm currently in Southern California, but I am looking to go to a university within the next couple of years. I want to stay on the west coast, and preferably in California, but you know how it is with the tuition right now. I'm now considering Arizona and even maybe Texas. What are the best cities out there for an 811er (preferably with cheap living expenses and a pleasant climate)?

Whats about NYC, in the Bronx is a big wholesale market
Have you lived there before? From what I heard the cost of living is high there. Besides, there are wholesale markets in almost every big city nowadays... That said, I hope a New Yorker here can prove me wrong.
Tucson is a pretty good city for produce! I lived there for around a year and was pretty satisfied with it (the citrus in AZ is amazing, but most of it is grown further north). But, U of Arizona is a great school and there is just so stinking much to do in and around Tucson you will never get bored (in the winter you can even go skiing!).
Wow! That sounds amazing! Thank you for sharing and I'll definitely consider it. But how easy is it to get good quality fruit around there? Any wholesalers? And does the school force you to buy a meal plan?
How do you live on the farmer's market? They don't sell bananas at mine. ; (
I really want to go to the schools you listed! They are all top engineering schools and seem to have fairly good weather. Maybe I'll plan a college visit trip this summer to check these places out. I've never been any states outside of California other than Nevada, sadly.
Haha, you haven't been to Asia, have you? SGV is actually pretty good. Even Riverside can't compare to Beijing.
Why not?
You might find a friendlier place in nort or west Florida.
