I'm in the army mos is is 11B and I'm stationed in ft. Drum New York. I'm in a scout plt and I am on my feet all day walking and running many miles sometimes carrying weight up to 100lb on my back. It is very cold here sometimes reaching -20°F and the issued boots are aweful. Even the vortex boots don't do their job. It's hard being a vegan in the army constantly fighting the food issues but now I feel it's necessary to purchase quality boots that will keep my feet dry and warm. I know it's wrong to buy boots made of cattlehide but that is regulation in the army. It's either the animal or my feet. Needing advice!

Wow! This is great!
If they don't like it then boycott the rule.
if the uniform does not specify what kind of cow hide, synthetic cow hide may suffice. do they inspect your boots?
I found several fairly recent discussions you might find helpful: https://www.google.com/search?q=30bananasaday.com+%2B+boots&rlz...
