Hey everyone, I need your help!
I live in California (land of plenty) and am heading over to the east coast (for the first time, really excited!!) to Boston July 12-17 training for my new job with the Real Food Challenge. It's a non-profit helping college students campaign to get local/fair/organic/REAL food in their cafeterias. As the higher education food system contributes billions a year toward corporate ag--our goal is to move 1 billion dollars of that budget toward sustainable agriculture by 2020.
I'm gonna need some fruit--a lot of it. I'm planning on bringing what I can in a carry-on on the plane, but I know there are weight limits and fruit gets up there in the L-Bs fast...Bostonites: is there a wholesaler that sells to individuals? Does anyone make it over to the Thursday farmer's market at Dewey Square--how fruity is it (because there seem to be a lot of baked "goods" and "farm raised" meats)?
Any local tips or general airplane-fruit-packing wisdom would be so greatly appreciated!!
♥Chloe
