Is RT4 good for healing colitis? My gut is very inflamed again, worst in a long time. My whole body feels inflamed, digestion terrible, skin on face is dry as paper, rough and breaking out like crazy all over, even forehead and chin. Even heart palpitations. I've been avoiding nuts/seeds/hot spices so I suspect it might be something with rice/corn/potatoes. I've been reading online and they say to try a specific carbohydrate diet which excludes all complex carbs. Is the fiber in starches too rough for my gut? I have David Klein's book, I just feel the diet is too difficult to follow. How can I make steamed veggies taste good with no spices? There is also a problem getting enough calories. Most fruit where i live is inedible, it's not sweet or never ripens. I'm eating OJ, bananas and watermelon for my fruits now, and juicing carrot+celery+cucumber. I've been 100% plant based for 3 years, 99% whole foods, low fat. I've done some 5 day all-raw challenges, they help but are very difficult to sustain.

Quite a few challenges here.
For starters, I would recommend no matter what diet, eat mono or simple meals, that is only one or a few ingredients in a meal.
Avoid juicing...

All of the symptoms you described could also come from high oxalate foods.
Try choosing low oxalate foods when possible:

Is it possible for you to travel to another city or place where good fruits are available? Some people go once or twice a month and stock up.
I ask because many people have good results with banana island or a favorite fruit and eating that exclusively for a few days or weeks. This allows the digestive system to heal while providing energy and basic nutrients.
And you might be gluten, wheat, or grain sensitive too. Have you ever been tested for Celiac disease?

Thanks, you might be on to something with oxalates. A low oxalate diet seems quite restrictive though, especially if done vegan, nightshade free and limited starches. There's also misleading information about some of the foods like OJ. I might give it a go. Any sample meals ideas? Is white rice/noodles ok and how can I make them taste better without strong spices?
It can be difficult when the fruit is so terrible that's for sure. I know your pain, I live in Toronto where the fruit isn't that great but I still overcame colitis. It just took some serious discipline. I ate cooked food along the way, but the healing diet for colitis is one of mostly soft fruits, with some vegetable juice thrown in to make up for the lack of nutrients in fruit that was picked too early.
The starches are more to keep your sanity. They aren't detoxifying, and that's what you need the most from your food. Astringent fruits that will pull toxins from your bowel walls to be eliminated from the body. Starch is like a desperation back up plan, and might maintain your current health fine, and possibly even slowly heal your gut, but if you want results faster stick with the fruits.
I wish it was easier to obtain high quality fruits worldwide, but you'll have to do the best you can. Just eat lots of the fruits you can get that are ripe.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EfJvmjgfmwE That's a video I made about my healing journey with colitis ;)
Thanks for the video. What vegetables did u use? Did you eat any nuts/seeds when healing?
This may seem like an odd question, but have you had your B12 levels checked? People with colitis can have low B12 levels.
