About 20 soaked dates per blender full of water (you use the soak water, as the sweetness goes into the water). I like my datorade thick like a milk shake and my husband likes it smoothie thin, so you'll have to play with it and add more water or more dates depending. I highly recommend khadrawi dates, pure heaven! When I first made datorade I had to strain it because I was not used to the frothy top and candy chunks, now I love everything about it. I love to drink my datorades with sliced apples or bananas and/or lettuce leaves. Perfect combos!!!
My favorite Daterade recipe is to blend about 40 ounces of water with 20-30 dates, I like to put a half teaspoon of raw vanilla powder with a tablespoon of raw cacao or carob (I like cacao bc its not as sweet), a tablespoon of Chia Seeds and I fill a 64 ounce (half gallon) mason jar half way with ice and pour the Daterade on it and it taste like a chocolate frappuccino!! SOOO yummy :-)
I don't like the taste of it myself, but I don't really like dates. I prefer them in smoothies used to sweeten other fruits like strawberries or blueberries. Today I tried a romaine, dates and coconut water smoothie which was really good!
pull the pits from about 25-30 (preferably medjool) dates and throw them in a blender. put more water in than you think is necessary; add cinnamon or vanilla for a little extra flavor and then blend!
if the dates are a bit tough just soak them overnight so they'll blend better. super great for energy during the day!
