In the early days when I first began on the road to educating myself about "healthy eating", I found David Wolfe videos on YouTube. The first one I watched was "David Wolfe on Super Foods" in which he sounded knowledgeable, but I was a total newb and thus naive. However, the more I watched his videos the more suspicious I became, because everything he touted as being the "ultimate food source" was sold in a packet from his website like - goji berry, raw maca, phytoplankton, colostrum etc.
When I first listened to his infamous podcast on the subject of Bananas, where he said bananas are anything but the perfect food, but "are clones of the original and are nothing more than sugar balls", I thought he was a complete tool for saying that. But when I found out he blatantly plagiarised the work of others for self gain and profit, I finally came to the conclusion David Wolfe is a conman, driven by ego and self interest.
He is like Big Pharma who deride anything that they can't personally benefit from. Some defend David, saying he has been a selfless pioneer in the raw food movement, but my research has revealed David Wolfe is a walking contradiction who has zero credibility.
Just found this thread and felt inspired to comment. When I first got in to raw food I would follow some inspirational 'leaders' I have to say I found David Wolfe really sexy. Magnetic. Then I bought his superfoods book and it just didn't make sense to me. Why did our bodies need all this expensive rare food to fuel us when nature provides us with abundance all around us? I stopped following him, not trusting my initial attraction. Now I stumbled across durian rider and at first admittedly I thought he was out of line - I refer to the first video I saw when he repeatedly tells Freelee she's a fruit junkie. I find DR a bit too anger driven but whatever drives him to speak makes complete sense and with a huge dose of raw honesty. I follow Freelee and joined recently. I saw his comments about David Wolfe and at first I thought why is he putting so much energy into putting this man down so much. I don't think comments about his family are appropriate, but the truth speaks out; Wolfe is now very repellant to me, his vibrancy has gone, if it were true ever vibrancy of rawness and not just the thrill of sucking in a whole load of gullible punters; he looks uncomfortable and unfit and what grandiosity, arrogance and bullshit. Plus he's harming harming harming. I think that DR is correct to speak up and ethically challenge. Thanks for informing and discrediting someone who deserves it.

Juliano Brotman or the rapist and plagiarist as he is more commonly known literally stole a script from a woman I know, Carmen Links who was Carmen Pehnec at the time. Juliano, Carmen and another girl he knew Suzie had an all-night writing session at her home in Anaheim Hills. Juliano had just a vague idea for a story and a bad script he wrote. He asked Carmen and Suzie to help him rewrite it. This happened about 14-15 years ago. Well Carmen ended up rewriting the entire script except the ending which Suzie wrote. The next day Juliano told Suzie to go down to the copyright office and put the script in his name only! I was at Carmen's house when Suzie called her to tell her what was going on. Carmen told her to put it in all three names to be fair but it really was her story by that time since none of his story was even used. That's the kind of person Carmen is, too generous. Now Juliano is making a documentary using her script and story. It's the story about the woman and the chimp that he is shooting now. He probably waited until the copyright was expired before finally doing it so that he could take full credit for it.
So how do I remember all this? It was one week later that his roommate in Topanga Canyon was raped by him. She filed charges with the Los Angeles Police department but later dropped them because she was too embarrassed to go to court. It was a widely know incident in the raw food community and sort of cemented Juliano as a black eye to the raw food community. A truly tragic story, the girl was really messed up by the rape and never really recovered from the shame of it. That guy should be in prison for all he's done. I wish someone would protest his film and demand to know who the original authors of the script are (the copyright office would have that info)! And why this rapist is running around free!
