When I tried to create my account I was unable to upload a profile pic from anywere on my computer. I ended up creating an account with yahoo so they automatically used the pic I had on there. Now that I have an account, I still can't change my profile pic. Is this a problem with the website?
I did try all three acceptable upload types (jpg, gif, or png). Each one came back with an error message saying to try a different pic.

Okay I was able to upload photos from my Iphone much easier. I checked and the pictures on my computer are 131kb, some were 134kb. Thanks guys, I'll see if it works on my husbands computer then.
It could be a flash thing, I find about 90% of problems I have with websites these days is usually flash related. Often installing a flash update will fix the issues with things like upload widgets.
Other things you can look at are if you have JavaScipt enabled in your browser and/or popups blockers. Sometimes popup blockers can block some widget functionality like picture uploads, etc. Also, sometimes a malformed cookie can cause a problem so you can go away from the site, delete the cookies and browser cache and then restart the browser, log in again and things are better. If you do that, be sure you know your other site logins since unless you do it cookie by cookie, you may lose your logins.
The image file size you mention should be fine, I know sometimes there are file size limits but at around 150K I don;t think you are running into anything like that.
... also, can you look at the image in windows explorer, or right click it and select properties and let us know what the file size (it will be in KB or MB) is?
Try a different browser, if it still doesn't work then s different computer so we can rule out software and hardware problems.
I also have this problem, I have tried to update my profile photo and get the same error, I also exhausted every option
