&lt;p&gt;i have been a fruit-based vegan for 14 years on January 1st 2021. initially i spent many years on an all-raw living-foods diet. it was amazing but i allowed myself to get too hungry too often and fell back into cooked foods. for years i tried to get 'back on board' then i gave up and decided 'raw was too hard right now'... obviously an excuse. since april 2020 i have been back on living foods and many wonder why i made the shift from raw till 4 back to all raw. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;so i should clarify here. since being back on the frugivore diet (high carb raw vegan), i have had toasted nori, a pasteurised juice here and there and maybe a few dishes with cooked cashews (which are never raw). i am eliminating these, not for purity reasons but because i feel best eating living foods. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;below are some of the reasons i prefer the raw vegan frugivore diet over the raw till 4 diet. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;BEAUTY-FULL&lt;/strong&gt;:  on living foods i just feel beautiful even if nobody else thinks i am. 💁🏼‍♀️ like a superhero 🦹‍♀️ sometimes it's hard to put into words how i'm feeling but beauty-full, as in filled with love. nourished, whole, alive, vibrant, satisfied, excited, complete. when i eat meals of cooked food this beauty-full feeling is dulled and suppressed. &lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;TASTE&lt;/strong&gt;: one thing i had forgotten over the years since including cooked food was that i actually &lt;em&gt;prefer &lt;/em&gt;the taste of living foods over cooked foods. this ofc makes sense seeing that's what human frugivores are designed to eat! i love the depth and complexity of flavours of raw living plant foods whether it's just fruit or combined dishes. cooking destroys so much of this complexity and the delicate flavours then the human frugivore attempts to add it back in with various condiments. once my tastebuds were 'clean' again (and i ate enough calories) i no longer 'craved' cooked food. &lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;PASSION&lt;/strong&gt;: my senses are sharper and i feel an extra &lt;em&gt;ziiiiing&lt;/em&gt; and passion for life. i have never achieved this fully while eating cooked meals. &lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;DIGESTION&lt;/strong&gt;: my digestion is not optimal when eating cooked meals, it never really has been. i came to the lifestyle with very poor digestion and large fruit meals have always been queen when it comes to optimal digestion and assimilation.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;SKIN&lt;/strong&gt;: i've been taking notes on this for years - i love the sun protection phytochemicals like carotenoids (namely betacarotene) gives my skin. this protective effect disappears with the inclusion of a single daily cooked meal as the amount of fruit ingested in reduced below what is needed. the betacarotene is stored under the skin (that rawfoodie glow) where it awaits conversion to vitamin A when needed and also provides SPF 4 which is great because SPF 8 can block 90% of vitamin D production. although you can still burn on raw, i find myself being able to withstand so much more sun and tan more easily. also love the year round glow this gives. i find my skin is constantly moisturised and never dry regardless of weather. skin pores also shrink and return to normal. overall skin quality is fantastic and obviously much healthier. &lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;HEALING&lt;/strong&gt;: my wound healing is clearly accelerated on the frugivore diet. more nerve energy is freed up from digesting difficult cooked meals that can now go towards wound healing and tissue regeneration. &lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;ADDICTIVE TENDENCIES: &lt;/strong&gt;i love how loud and clear the 'eat' and 'stop eat' signals are on the raw frugivore diet and how there are no addictive tendencies. no emotional urgency to eat just a relaxed feeling even when hungry. for instance, one time i cried and actually got angry over the thought of not being able to have my usual plant-based burritos within the next hour. i was extremely emotional and wasn't overly hungry. and when i did have these foods the rate of eating was hurried and intense. my blood sugar variations were also much greater. i realise not all cooked food is created equal but now no matter how hungry i am i don't have this crazy pull to eat eat EAT and as soon as i do feel that &lt;em&gt;'must eat more of this &lt;strong&gt;NOW'&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/em&gt; feeling then i know what i've eaten is not raw. i had this sensation after eating some 'raw' crackers which actually ended up having a number of cooked ingredients. even fermented saurkraut doesn't give me this feeling or even salted raw food dishes. &lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;PERIODS&lt;/strong&gt;: i really enjoy lighter periods and without fail they are always lighter on all living foods. &lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;FOOD PREP&lt;/strong&gt;: i love love love flameless food prep, it's magic for me! so enjoyable, no sweating, no burns. i actually love creating beautiful vibrant dishes now whereas it was a chore with cooked food at dinner time. &lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;PEACE: &lt;/strong&gt;i seek out more peaceful surroundings and people. i strive to conduct myself in a peaceful manner. i am still a passionate fiery individual ofc but raw inspires me to approach life from love rather than judge others harshly and see them as bad people, to understand their struggle. that doesn't mean i won't be holding others accountable and speaking up passionately with the truth but it's about always keeping my intentions pure and from the best place. &lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;ETHICS&lt;/strong&gt;: animal liberation is important to me and eating this way is far better for the animals and environment than even a cooked vegan diet. &lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;FOOD FOREST&lt;/strong&gt;: i am more excited to grow my own food and spend time in my food forest.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;BIOLOGY&lt;/strong&gt;: i'm a frugivore so i am designed to eat this way 🤷‍♀️&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;IM DONE:&lt;/strong&gt; that's it! cooked food just doesn't work for me anymore. yep, it doesn't... but it never really has, no matter how much i told myself it was ok.&lt;/li&gt;

&lt;p&gt;welcome fellow frugivore! it's great to have you here on the new site. this site was formerly known as &quot;30 bananas a day&quot; and that URL will still bring you here. i created 30 bananas a day back in 2009 and have spent about $8000 on the site since then (mostly on fees and graphic design). the site is now over $1000 a year but will always be free for you to enjoy (as long as i can afford it!). i stopped posting on the site a number of years ago after giving into cooked food :-/ and although the site was still costing me money, I resisted deleting it as it's such an amazing wealth of raw living food information with over 34,000 discussions (so be sure to do a search!). i also knew deep down that i'd be back ;) another reason for revamping the site is that i detest the control facebook, youtube, instagram has over forums and our data. this platform is a lot better and allows more freedom.&lt;/p&gt;

            <content type="html">&lt;div&gt;&lt;p&gt;melatonin is a powerful free-radical scavenger and wide-spectrum antioxidant as discovered in 1993.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Melatonin is an antioxidant that can easily cross cell membranes and the blood–brain barrier.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;This antioxidant is a direct scavenger of radical oxygen and nitrogen species including OH•, O•2−, and NO•.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Melatonin works with other antioxidants to improve the overall effectiveness of each antioxidant.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Melatonin has been proven to be twice as active as vitamin E, believed to be the most effective lipophilic antioxidant.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;An important characteristic of melatonin that distinguishes it from other classic radical scavengers is that its metabolites are also scavengers in what is referred to as the cascade reaction.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Also different from other classic antioxidants, such as vitamin C and vitamin E, melatonin has amphiphilic properties (it mixes both with water &amp;amp; lipid soluble substances such as vitamins).&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;When compared to synthetic, mitochondrial-targeted antioxidants (MitoQ and MitoE), organic melatonin proved to be a comparable &lt;span style=&quot;text-decoration:underline;&quot;&gt;&lt;strong&gt;protector against mitochondrial oxidative stress.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Studies also suggest that melatonin is useful fighting infectious disease including viral, such as HIV, and bacterial infections, and potentially in the treatment of cancer.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;br /&gt; It is known that melatonin interacts with the immune system.             <content type="html">&lt;div&gt;&lt;p&gt;So a couple of days ago I made a thread about the weight gain I've experienced on this lifestyle, because I was doubting its validity for a time. However, the more I think about it, the more I realise that this lifestyle is amazing and I have to stick it out for as long as it takes. I want to make this thread to try to encourage others with similar experiences to do the same.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Yes, it's true that I've gained a lot of weight (almost 30 kilos) on this lifestyle. It's also true that I abused my body badly in the past by starving myself to get thin, and continuing to go hungry to try to stay there. Calorie restriction simply can't be healthy (whatever anyone says): I've been there, I've done that, and boy does it suck. Starvation is a horrible experience. It isn't good for the body or for the mind in any way, and I will never go back to the hell of calorie restriction. You need to eat until you feel no hunger at all. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;And yes, it's true that I've gained a lot of weight. I have. But! I've also gained so much happiness (I used to be depressed, and now I feel like I'm on cloud nine all day, every day). I smile again now. I sing to myself all the time. I have energy to exercise, to play an instrument, to study and to spend time with those I love. I feel the best I've ever felt in my life, even though I'm fat.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Here's the amazing thing though - I've gained weight because my body is HEALING itself. Healing itself from the damage that I caused it. And when it's done I know I'm going to be fit and toned and slim for the rest of my life (or until I become a really old man). I've finally come to a place where I love myself enough to allow my body to gain some weight and heal itself. That amazes me and I'm so happy about it everyday.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;So, if you're gaining weight on raw or raw till 4 and you're following the actual program properly like me, then don't worry about it. In fact, be happy about the fact that after all these years of self-abuse, you're finally healing, finally recovering. Don't go back to calorie restriction, or leave veganism, stick with it and I know we're all going to make it. Love yourself enough to keep going, to keep living, because believe me when I say that you're worth it. You ARE worth it.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;PS: I'm going to try to keep a blog on here with a diary of what I eat, how I exercise, how I sleep etc and how my weight changes over time. I think it will be interesting to have a record over the coming years so that in the future, when others experience restoring/healing weight gain periods, they can read the blog and they'll know that this community isn't full of nonsense, and that this really works.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</content>

&lt;p&gt;If you prefer to avoid animal products altogether, there are other alternatives available. Lyocell, silk cotton, ceiba tree filaments and milkweed seed pod fibers are all eco friendly options worth exploring.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The dark and disturbing world of silk worms isn’t one that gets much media coverage, beause the industry believes that we simply don’t care enough to care, but that doesn’t have to be the case. You can reject these inhumane practices and opt to buy cruelty free alternatives instead. We do not need to exploit insects, or any other animal for that matter, and no amount of whitewashing will justify using these tiny beings as resources for our own ends.&lt;/p&gt;

I have no vegan friends and generally most of my friends think I'm crazy for living off juices and smoothies! I'm hoping someone might be happy to lend a bit of advice every now and then.I'm also struggling finding vegan (cruelty free) products for the sort of stuff you use every day without really thinking about like washing up liquid, shampoo etc. I'm in the UK and hoping someone might be able to tell me where to find stuff here.Thank you!&lt;/div&gt;</content>

The bottom is actually the top of the banana though in how it grows, and the stem is actually at the bottom and is harder. Try it next time!             <content type="html">&lt;div&gt;&lt;p&gt;Hi there&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt; I'm a 26 year old girl who started this raw-vegan lifestyle earlier this year. It went great, I loved the lifestyle. Until i went abroad to live with familiy for a few months. I tried to keep up with the lifestyle, working out daily and eating right. But found it to be very difficult for a lot of reasons. &lt;br /&gt; Even tho I didn't go back to meat, I started eating fat-foods, chocolate and other ****** stuff. It went out of control! The 12 kgs I lost I gained back really fast!&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt; I've been in a lot of pain recently, and my doctor just told me today that I have a gallstone.&lt;br /&gt; This opened my eyes again.&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt; Reasons I could have gotten it is:&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt; - Being overweight&lt;br /&gt; - Bad eating-habits, lots of fatty foods&lt;br /&gt; - Lost weight fast&lt;br /&gt; - Lost a lot of weight, and then gain it back again&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt; I am not allowed to eat anything that contains fat anymore, or sugar for that matter (since I am a chocolate-addict), fruit sugars is fine. I must wait a few days to get a scan so that I can go to surgery and remove my gallstone. So I'll be in agony for some days.&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt; Now, please learn from my experience, I don't wish this upon anyone!&lt;br /&gt; Do not fall off the wagon like I did, don't eat lots of fatty foods. Chocolate and coca cola (etc) is poison to your body. &lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt; I am now only living off bananas, it is litterally the only thing I can eat that doesn't upset my stomach too much. So it is back to banana-island for me. Lesson learned! &lt;br /&gt; I'm gonna stay on this lifestyle now. It's inevitable that some members will take them and their advice for granted and this just isn't ok. If you have a problem with their conduct (or mine) then feel free to contact us. We also do not allow people to make disrespectful comments to our admins directly in response to their advice. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;If you want objective feedback we request all participants of this forum keep a food diary here or in the BLOG section (and link to it). These diaries should include daily entries of everything you consume, quantities, calories, exercise, water and sleep. If you don't have a diary here, we won't be able to help you or answer your questions effectively. This is a two way street, help the admins and others by doing your bit (of keeping a diary) and the admin will do their best to be available and accommodating. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Naturally we understand you will feel like sharing/asking for assistance if you are struggling on the lifestyle, so in order for the admin to assist you (from an informed place) they MUST have access to your RT4 diary. We ask for a minimum of 2 weeks 100% RT4 before asking for assistance &lt;b&gt;and please link to your diary in your post.&lt;/b&gt; We ask this of you because this is a SUPER group, that is results driven.  Without your diary entries we cannot ever give you accurate or objective feedback and this wastes everyones time. Please help the volunteer admins by requesting this from other members too. At the end of the day if you have not been keeping a diary then it's just not fair on those who are giving their time for free.&lt;/p&gt;

We do appreciate people helping each other out, that is very helpful for us! But, we need you to follow the RT4 principles when you extend your advice and expertise to others. Advice that includes increasing fat (nuts, seeds, avocado, tahini and oil intake), as well as advice on limiting calories or 'listening to your body' or limiting carbohydrate and/or fruit intake does not concur with these guidelines. &lt;/div&gt;

You are free to watch them and follow them, but not within the confines of this challenge, as embarking on that path will set you back and we do not want that for you. We won't be able to guarantee your succeeding on this lifestyle that way. We want you to eat sufficient calories at this stage in the challenge, we do not endorse anyone promoting caloric restriction in any way. We understand it's difficult and people will want to stretch it a bit to accommodate their own comfort zones. But, we've anticipated that, we understand where you are at this point in the challenge. Please do not post messages of the sort in this group. Also, do not give out advice that is in contradiction to our guidelines. It makes it very confusing and difficult for people coming to this group to better their health. &lt;br /&gt; * &lt;b&gt;&lt;i&gt;PLEASE DO NOT PROMOTE THE USE OF SUPERFOODS OR NUTRITIONAL YEAST and ABOUT B12 ISSUES&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt; &lt;span&gt;On the RT4 lifestyle, the use of expensive superfoods is not needed. Most often they are extremely high in fat and protein, and this does not mix well with a high fruit/carb diet. We do not buy into snake oil fads, nor will we allow any kind of promotion of them. Also, nutritional yeast is a neurotoxin, it feeds a disbalance in one's hormonal system, and add to candida issues. We do not allow any posts promoting either superfoods or nutritional yeast. Also, Marmite, due to being a yeast based product and high in salt, is not recommended, and can lead to unfortunate candida issues. If you have B12 issues, we recommend Hydroxocobalamin or Methycobalamin shots, or sublinguals. These are the two forms of B12 that are safe. We fully believe in the success of the RT4 lifestyle and have seen it work for many people. We are also going to allow RT4 videos to be accepted in the video section. We want to appeal to 99% of the population not just 1% of the population. Please keep discussions about cooked vegan foods to this category. We have outlined some Rawtill4 guidelines to keep you feeling your best!&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt; &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;br /&gt; 1. As always on 30BaD ONLY plant foods are allowed on this program. No animal products, no exceptions.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
2. If you want to get the RT4 results then we recommend fruits &amp;amp; greens ONLY to be eaten till 4pm every day then a high carb cooked dinner of plants. No cooked food during the day. Food combining rules still apply.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
3. 1000+ calories from fruit for breakfast and 1000+ from fruit for lunch is recommended for success, then have a high carb cooked plants dinner. Examples are a meal of potatoes/root veggies (several lbs) or several cups of rice or gluten free pasta with low fat, low sodium sauce.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
4. 10% or less of your calories should come from fat a day, please work that out at (&lt;a href=&quot;http://www.cronometer.com/&quot; target=&quot;_blank&quot;&gt;www.cronometer.com&lt;/a&gt;), 5% is optimal. Oil is not recommended on this program. Learn to cook (&amp;amp; eat) without it and you will gain wonderful health benefits. Although not ideal, try using some apple juice or water.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
5. Approved sources of cooked carbs are organic potatoes, root veggies, rice, gluten-free pasta, high carb ancient grains. These sources are approved because they are low sodium and minimally processed.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
6. Fragmented sodium should be kept to an absolute minimum. We recommend under 1000mg's a day and under 500 mg's for maximum leanness and health. Use herbs where ever possible in place of salt. Sea salt should be treated the same. Lemon juice and lime juice is also a great substitute for salt.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
7. Food should be eaten whole and minimally processed wherever possible. Vegan junk foods are generally high in fat so are not recommended. If you must have them then once a week maximum or you will not benefit like you should from this program. Please avoid discussing high fat vegan foods on this high carb forum.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
8. A big green salad should accompany your dinner meal to aid digestion and will minimise white blood cell proliferation from the cooked food. Ideally start eating it first.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
9. Buy organic wherever possible (particularly potatoes), it tastes much better and is better for the environment.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
10. NO sweets or fruit after cooked food or fermentation and poor digestion will result, if you want sweets after your dinner you didn't eat enough fruit during the day.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
11. Big green smoothies are great for getting the calories in for breakfast/lunch. Bananas are a great fruit staple throughout the day.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
12. One day a week we recommend a 100% fruit day to give your body a cleanse, we suggest the start of your work week or the day before.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
13. Unlimited calories every meal, no restriction. The idea is to get as much raw food in as possible before 4pm so the majority of your calories for the day should still come from fruit. Don't under eat on fruit during the day or 'save up' your calories for dinner time. This is about abundance at every meal.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
14. Chickpeas, beans, lentils are not high carb choices so should be kept to a minimum. They give too much protein if eaten in excess. They can be added if your fat &amp;amp; protein intake stays around 5% of calories for the day. Be aware that combining them with high carb foods may hamper digestion. If they are tinned make sure they have &quot;no added salt&quot; on the can.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
15. You will need to drink more water on this program than on 100% raw because the cooked food does take water from your body. Make sure you are peeing clear, especially before you go to bed.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
16. Move daily, it will help increase the efficiency of your colon and move the cooked food through more quickly.&lt;br /&gt;

I was not prepared for ANY of what it entailed, but it sure did open my eyes.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I thought it would have given me nightmares. No such thing has happened as of yet.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I was crying for a good 3/4 of the entire movie though. How anyone could do that as a job and ENJOY it is beyond me! A lot of the people seemed to be doing just that! It sickened me, and really made me realize how serious I am about being a fruitarian/Raw Vegan.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I can't eat a single piece of meat now without thinking of Earthlings.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</content>
