So a relative of mine is struggling with low estrogen. She's about 60 and is having non stop issues with it. She has been using estrogen patches but it just keeps getting worse. I have convinced her that dairy is bad and she has mostly cut that out but not all the way. I want to help her but I don't know how, any of you have any ideas? She's desperate and I think would try anything. I don't want to go on about it since it is kind of a personal thing but I see how much pain she is going through and want to help. Thanks!!

Soy is widely known in health circles as pro-estrogenic and feminizing and men are recommended to avoid it. If that’s actually the case, can anyone explain why serum estrogen levels actually decrease in soy-supplemented groups in studies in both men and women? And why is there an inverse relationship between hormone dependent cancers such as breast and prostate cancer (I suppose all cancers are hormone dependent) and soy consumption? Here are just some of the studies I’m talking about:

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8770469 - 36-oz of daily soymilk consumption for a month significantly decreased serum 17 beta-estradiol levels in premenopausal women.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9839524 - Estrone and estradiol levels were decreased by 23% and 27% at the end of the study in the soy milk supplemented group in Japanese women. The change in estrone and estradiol levels was minor in the control, non-soy group.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11303585 - Serum estrone concentrations decreased in the soy-supplemented group in Japanese men. There was no change in testosterone levels in both the soy group and the control group.

Is it that the estrogen circulation in blood decreases from soy but estrogen level inside the cell increases? Is that why soy is so widely considered as ‘estrogenic’?

I'm worried though that without any overt fats I will not have proper hormone levels. Also someone told me that fat was needed to produce estrogen; and that leaving out any overt fats would cause a drop in estrogen and increase in testosterone; which scares me because I don't want that! I feel so good without overt fats...but I will include them if I should. What do you think?

Watched some of Channel 4's "Food Hospital", there was a woman who had (still has?) breast cancer, she decided to eliminate œstrogens from her diet by removing meat and cow's milk (GOOD), but she had changed from cow's milk to soy milk which has phytoestrogens that mimic œstrogen, which increase cancer (also leads to earlier puberty in females and decreased sperm count in males). I do not remember what was said about meat, if anything.

http://envirocancer.cornell.edu/factsheet/diet/fs1.phyto.cfm

That is a different topic to what I want to focus on, which is that the presenter said there was no study linking cow's milk with cancer formation - I thought of all the studies cited in The China Study showing casein causes cancer.

Please post scientific literature and studies that show the link between cancer and cow's milk (and other species' milk) - I wonder what effects regularly drinking human milk has on adults...

http://www.purewatergazette.net/milksucks.htm

China Study - Veganist - Bill Clinton - Not Milk - Resource-Based Economy
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WF_rTrMuKEw

Hey, i have PCOS, and am JUST beginning LFRV, but i want to know if anyone has any documented experience with Ovulation and menstruation or lack of menstruation. There doesnt seem to be MUCH in the way of testimonials of women getting pregnant on LFRV. I am trying to get pregnant with baby #1 and with PCOS, i dont ovulate because of endocrine problems and estrogen dominance and insulin resistance. I also have NEVER had regular periods and so i rarely ovulate when i wasnt on 80/10/10, I am hoping that 80/10/10 will fix these problems, i have no doubt in my mind that it will help. I would just like to know if anyone out there has had ANY success getting pregnant or even knowing if they are ovulating or not. By charting Cervical mucus, Cervical position, saliva ferning, etc. Thanks!
