Hy vegans and dog experts,

i know someone who has a dog. The dog got sick. She has a problem, with her anal glands.

The "owner" of the dog went to doctors. The doctors all recommended hard medication. Now the dog also has problems, because of the medication.

The "owner" stopped the medication and asked for advice. I read, that small dogs and dogs witch are overweight, have problems with there anal glands.

The dog I am writing you about, is not small, but overweight.

I read it there http://healthypets.mercola.com/sites/healthypets/archive/2010/09/16/dog-anal-gland-problem.aspx

and there http://burnspet.co.uk/petcare/burns-pet-nutrition-advice/full-anal-glands.html

I showed the "owner" the articles.

They clearly say, that food and overweight are main causes of the problem.

The "owner" tried to solve the problem with a different diet. But the problem is: She does not see, that her dog is to fat.

Now she gives her dog especially Coconut Oil, Butter and whip cream, because she thinks, that fat would detox her dogs body.

She would be opened for advice, but what advice should I give her?

Thank you for recommendations.

It derived from a cross country bicycle tour from New York to California in 2014. I prepared meals outside that were healthy, quick and easy to make. All the meals were prepared from my SnowPeak solo camp stove and the food at markets and gas stations.

Take a look inside! You can download a copy 08/15 - 08/19. I believe my book is the answer to many people who camp and/or bike tour who worry about food and other meals to prepare while out on extended or even short weekend adventure. It's also a book you can adapt to your own style of cooking and perhaps change your perspective overall.

In addition to the food I have 4 stories from the road of my favorite places I've traveled through in the U.S. These locations include Kansas, Colorado, Nevada and Virginia. I'm really psyched on the images because they really take me back to when I was on this trip. I'm pumped for this and hope it can be of help to many of you who are planing a trip or looking at getting creative at the camp site.

Lastly please leave an honest review.

Link to Book: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01JGKVKUS#navbar

Our long [and continuing] battle for GMO labels may have [suffered a] defeat last week, but we refuse to get mad. We're taking our battle to the marketplace.

Almost 500,000 consumers have already downloaded the Buycott App. Let the #ConsumerRevolution begin!

Use the “Pro-GMO? Or Pro-Right to Know?” Buycott App to scan food products before you buy them. You'll learn who the parent company of each brand is, and where that company stands in the GMO labeling fight.

How to install Buycott, and sign up for the “Pro-GMO? Or Pro-Right to Know?” campaign on an iPhone:

1. Download here or go to the “App Store.”

2. Search for “Buycott.”

3. Tap “Get” next to the Buycott listing.

4. After the app downloads, tap “Install.”

5. Enter your Apple ID password (if prompted).

6. Once Buycott is installed, tap “Open.”

How to install Buycott, and sign up for the “Pro-GMO? Or Pro-Right to Know?” campaign on an Android phone:
1. Download here or go the “Play Store.”

2. Search for “Buycott.”

3. Tap “Install.”

4. When prompted to give Buycott permissions, choose “Accept.”

5. Wait for the app to download.

6. When the download is done, tap “Open.”

How to set up your Buycott account (Android and iPhone):

1. Follow the on-screen introduction.

2. Sign up for a new account (or sign in if you already have a Buycott account).

3. Tap “OK” on the welcome screen.

4. Choose the “Pro-GMO? Or Pro-Right to Know?” campaign (This campaign should show up as a featured campaign. If you don’t see it, you can use the “explore” function to search for it).

5. Tap “Join Now” on the campaign introduction page.

6. Drag the “Campaign Support Level” bar all the way to the right (toward “Strong”).

7. When asked “Would you like to receive updates on your campaign?” tap “Sure.”

8. When asked if you would like to allow Buycott to send you notifications, tap “OK.” This allows us to notify you with important info about companies and brands who need to hear from consumers.

9. You have now successfully installed Buycott on your iPhone, and signed up for our “Pro-GMO? Or Pro-Right to Know?” campaign. You can now use the app to scan the barcode on a product and see if it is produced by a company that supports, or opposes GMO labeling.

How to scan a barcode (Android and iPhone):

1. Open the Buycott App

2. Tap the green icon in the center at the bottom of the screen

3. When asked if you want to allow Buycott to access your phone’s camera, tap “OK.”

4. Scan a barcode by holding it up to your phone’s camera. Tap the screen to focus.

5. A screen will come up telling you if you are supporting (green) or avoiding (red) the company that produced the product. If the item you scan is not in our campaign, it will say “No Personal Conflicts.”

6. In the center of the screen you are asked “Will you buy this product?” tap “Yes” or “No” to send the company a message.

7. Once you Tap “Yes” or “No,” you will be prompted to fill out a form to send a message to the company. First, you must choose our campaign message. To do this, tap “Select a Campaign Message” and choose “Pro-GMO? Or Pro-Right to Know?” Then tap “Paste Campaign Message” (green). Then choose which platform you want to use to send the message. You can choose one, or all three: Facebook, Twitter, and Email. Then tap “Send.”

So I was scrolling through my tumblr the other day, when suddenly on my dashboard I see "FDA Finally Admits Chicken Meat Contains Cancer"

I quickly ran over to Google to look up what this was all about! I found many sources saying that this isn't completely true.

So the story goes something like this (please correct me if I'm wrong -- too much info can be confusing):

-The FDA did a study in 2011 that tested 100 chickens and found that "chickens who ate feed containing Roxarsone (an arsenic-containing additive used to kill parasites and promote growth) did not eliminate as much inorganic arsenic through waste as previously thought and therefore had higher levels of inorganic arsenic in their livers than chickens who had not been fed Roxarsone."

-Then, the FDA and Pfizer, the manufacturer of Roxarsone, announced they would discontinue sales of chickens which contain feed additive. BUT they said, "though the agency is stressing that the amount is too tiny to be dangerous to people who eat it."

NOW everyone is in a frenzy on social media because the FDA was notified by Zoetis that they would stop using Nitarsone in chickens as of now.

"Nitarsone is the only arsenic-based animal drug that is currently approved for use in food animals. Nitarsone is approved for the prevention of blackhead disease (histomoniasis) in turkeys and chickens, but it is predominantly used in turkeys."

My question is why.

Why did it take 5 years so many lawsuits and people for this to happen? When did this become okay for these companies to do whatever the f%@k they wanted?

Obviously I'm painfully aware that our world is far from perfect, that this has been going on forever, and that this isn't new.

But how can we continue to grow our awareness in the world? How to we bring this to more and more people's attention? AND make them realize how bad it really is?

I know a lot of people that know and don't care and that might be the worst problem we face today.
Sources:http://www.foodsafetynews.com/2015/04/fda-to-withdraw-approval-for-arsenic-based-drug-used-in-poultry/#.VwUkVmMrjzIhttp://www.fda.gov/AnimalVeterinary/NewsEvents/CVMUpdates/ucm440668.htm

Psyched I joined up and consider myself a student and teacher of life. My goal is to gain as much knowledge from you all and share mine in return. I first found out about "30 Bananas A Day" from a friend who suggested I check out Durianrider's YouTube channel. I was about a week into my bicycle tour riding racked from New York to California which took me 75 days(you can watch the video here). I was on the path to mastery and needed inspiration which Durian provided. Not only has he changed my perspective on eating but my life. After my trip in 2014 I've been doing the "Raw Till 4" lifestyle and my cycling and overall life has improved.

While I still have many things to work on, I'd like to gain more of a knowledge base around food and what it does for my body and how it can improve my cycling. I have a website which you can check out at Manual Pedal and YouTube channel. I've been biking all my life. My dad said one I picked up my bike I never put it down and he's right, I never will put it down until it's my time. I started in BMX which then led me to track and road cycling. I now do road cycling exclusively and bike touring and bikepacking when time permits.

I can often go off in tangents so to leave on a lite note... I'm really psyched to be apart of this community and looking forward to learning and sharing.

Best Regards,

Dwayne _/\_

So I've decided that I want to get serious with rawtill4 and lately I've been feeling great, I'm getting better at it. But the thing is that I live with my family and it's been pretty problematic. (I'm still not an adult) They're constantly saying me that what I am doing is ridiculous and not normal. Whenever they ask what am I going to have for lunch and I respond "I'm going to have fruit" they make me faces. I REALLY FEEL BAD AND GUILTY AND IT'S ACTUALLY NOT A THING TO BE GUILTY ABOUT. I've shown them all the things that I know and the benefits that a high fruit diet can do to your body. Even heavy pain and flows of menstruation have disappeared! I can't seem to explain this! They're just saying "Oh so you found another trend. Now you're not only vegan but you are an almost raw vegan." And what I say to that is that I've known raw veganism for such a long time I just didn't have the courage to do it because of this reason, so I wouldn't be said things like this for not having cooked food at the table. What should I do? Can you guys feel me? And also do oranges lower body defenses because of the content of arginine? That's what I've been told.... Huh..... Sigh.....

Hi, carbed up vegans :)Yesterday, I bought a wheat pasta, and to check if it's vegan (of course), I read the label, it was vegan, but I just got confused because of this: (example of the label)Ingredients: whole wheat and water,Nutrition FactsCarbs: (example)Calories: (Example)Fiber: (example)Salt: 0,02g (or 20mg) [the label was written salt, not sodium,]So, I know it's such a little amount of sodium (or should I say salt?), because I know both are different things, but I was just in doubt if:1. the nutrition facts were saying this is the sodium (but confused with salt, because it's usually where the sodium value is);2. Salt counts as an ingredient or is not demanded to be in the ingredients list, but its amount goes to nutrition facts;3. If the ingredient list is salt-free, then this is the natural occurring sodium from wheat (I've googled wheat in the same quantity of the label and it appeared "sodium 0,02g or 20mg", the same value, so I believe the sodium was natural occurring from it?), because plants have sodium in them, such as fruit and vegetables. Can anyone answer these questions, please? I'm eating the pasta normally, just curious in the case I buy something salt is not listed on the ingredients but it's written "salt" on the nutrition facts, instead of sodium... to know if it's a mistake/natural occurring sodium/added (because if it was added, should it be listed as an ingredient?)/etc.Sorry for so many questions! Thanks, if you can reply :)

Originally we were going to a vegan restaurant because she is vegan also. But offcourse everyone else complained and now we are going to a completely "normal" Italian resturaunt. I called the place to check they at least have SOMETHING that is vegan and gluten free, and they said yes. But I'm also worried about oils (which Italians use heavily) and sodium... What might be my best bet to order?I thought risotto but then realised it's probably dripping in oil :(I'm also more worried than I probably should be because I've been sick again lately with candida- it's stubborn but has almost cleared up since I've started rt4, but as soon as I eat something wrong, I get a rash again and can't go to the toilet :(Ughhhhhhhh :(Thank you everyone!

Hi guys!

I am a fully raw guy for many years living in Czech Republic(European Union). I work as IT specialist. In the nearest future I would like to move to the country with a warmer climate and bigger amount of fruits, because here in Prague we have a long winter and not so many tropical fruits. So now I am thinking about where to go. I have discovered this article http://www.fredericpatenaude.com/blog/?p=1917 with the TOP of best places for rawfoodists with some great places, for example USA - California, Miami, Florida, Hawai or Australia, but all these places are blocked for the foreigners and I cant see the way how to legally obtain working visa in these countries. In the Thailand there are no possibilities to work for the foreigners, but everything is cheap and this is a really fruitarian paradise. So there are so many fruitarian countries but all of them have its own limitations of living/working for foreigners. I am writing this post to find the same people like me who is searching for the new living and working opportunities in sunny countries without cold winter and lack of fruits. Could you please inspire me and show any possibilities? I will be happy for any messages from anyone. Feel free to contact me. Thank you for your attention.

With love and respect for all beings,

Dimitrij.

Is there anything to prevent it?

I'm sleeping enough and the day before I eat around 3000 calories and before I workout I eat a ripe banana (anymore and I could puke while working out) and I drink coconut sugar water while exercising. Or do you just eat them raw like any other banana?

May your day be full of carbs!

PS: it's very ripe, yellow and "spotted", not green :)

I do not follow the raw till 4 guidelines exactly as they say, but i do eat lots of fruit, mostly mangoes, more than 10 per day. I eat some salad and broccoli, i eat avocado just like 1/4 or less and sometimes i eat rice. I also have recently started to drink almond milk and dry cocoa. I eat about 2,000 -2,300 calories per day, but i have gained 10 kilos and everyday i gain more weight, i am feeling really desperate, my clothes dont fit anymore, i feel uncomfortable in my own skin.

I have low blood pressure so i feel really tired, but i also can do a lot of exercise.

Can you give me any advice on proper food combining, and maybe motivate me to keep on this lifestyle? I have been thinking in seriously giving up.

Thank you ! <3

I'm dealing with one of the lesser talked about issues with losing substantial amount which is the psychological difficulties that can happen. Before I went vegan/raw I was 410lbs pre-diabetic and already had serious cardiac incidents all before graduating highschool. At 21 I now weigh 238lbs, but I deal with the fear of gaining that weight back every time I eat or even buy clothing(I often buy a size smaller for motivation). It scares me to the point I can't sleep well and some days I'll try to avoid eating anything because food is everywhere, and being one meal away from being back where I started. I almost wish someone would of talked about this with me before going off to get healthy and slim. So I ask for advice, motivation, or places to go on dealing with this issue.
