Hi everyone!

I noticed this has been posted before but it's been years, and I would love to have a current discussion about it - I am VERY new to this lifestyle, and I already have roadblocks because my husband and sons eat meat and have made it VERY clear to me that they will not change. I pray my health and behavior changes will hopefully bring them over there, but right now, I'm focusing on caring for me. That being said...

I seem to go into a mild Anaphylaxis (tongue swelling, itchy throat and ears, etc) whenever I eat bananas or any pitted fruit (peaches, cherries, dates, plums, etc...) This is harsh for me because I LOVE fruit and I am wondering if my allergy is just simply from decades of poor health and eating, along with all the crap they add in foods these days. Can an allergy like this be reversed? I would love to hear stories about this because I'm not going down without a fight. I WANT to eat these fruits....

I am also throwing up a disclaimer right now that anyone commenting on this is not a doctor, nor is giving any information on cures. I am desperate to eat healthier, and I feel freaking defeated whenever I try to eat this fruit. :(

Thanks in advance! :D

Bridget

It is because of the cooked food before?:(

Thanks for the early answer.

Hi all! Hope you're have a good day.

I'm a 22 year old female, fit & healthy, lead an active lifestyle, drink 3L of water per day and take good care of my skin.

                                                           ..................

I've been apprehensive about posting this question on 30BAD because I know everyone here LOVES fruit (and so do I!) but it seems to be making my skin awful. I've had bad skin for years now, and it's always bothered me a lot. I've tried everything, and when I decided to switch from veggie to full vegan I finally thought that this lifestyle would be my answer, but no, my skin is just as bad, in fact maybe even worse, than it was before. This may be a superficial problem but it's at the point now where I'm in tears almost every night over it (and I'm not a particularly emotional person, may I add). It's red, uneven, covered in black heads, dull/dead looking, and the spots are huge and itchy all around my chin. I've always been bothered my spots around my mouth/chin, I honestly can't remember a time there wasn't a blemish there.

What's funny is a few weeks ago (around Easter time) I had a few days where I'd been given (vegan) Easter eggs so I was loose with my diet and ate a lot of vegan junk food, oils, and generally not the healthiest foods! But in those two days (just two days!) my skin transformed! It was so much smoother, I couldn't believe it! It looked healthy, hydrated, smooth, no huge pores and dullness! I was thrilled! I thought it was finally changing for me! Then the next day I got back to normal after my junk food weekend and ate my fruits again. Big smoothie for breakfast, smoothie bowl for lunch and for dinner potatoes. The morning after I woke up expecting to see more improvement on my face, but was sorely disappointed. My skin was red, bumpy, uneven, irritated and unhealthy looking yet again, and has remained that way since even though I've been cutting down on fruit to see if that will make a difference. I didn't touch fruit on those two days my skin got clearer so that's why I think it has to be the fruit that's doing this?

I'd HATE to not eat fruit, it's an absolute staple in my diet and I love it so much. It's what we humans are meant to eat, so why is my skin telling me there's something wrong? I'm honestly getting so frustrated and upset, I feel like there's no hope. Even on the cleanest diet possible, my skin is still horrid. It's really starting to humiliate me now, 'cause acne is basically your body's way of telling you that there's something not right on the inside. I couldn't be any healthier, so what gives?

I'm not buying the whole "detox" thing, because my skin dramatically improved in two days when I was eating crap. It's also been 3 months now, and my skin keeps getting itchier, redder, bumpier and spottier.

Can anyone please help me out here? As silly as this may sound, it's truly dragging me down big time. I'm painfully insecure, embarrassed and upset about it.

Thank you,

Robyn.

Psyched I joined up and consider myself a student and teacher of life. My goal is to gain as much knowledge from you all and share mine in return. I first found out about "30 Bananas A Day" from a friend who suggested I check out Durianrider's YouTube channel. I was about a week into my bicycle tour riding racked from New York to California which took me 75 days(you can watch the video here). I was on the path to mastery and needed inspiration which Durian provided. Not only has he changed my perspective on eating but my life. After my trip in 2014 I've been doing the "Raw Till 4" lifestyle and my cycling and overall life has improved.

While I still have many things to work on, I'd like to gain more of a knowledge base around food and what it does for my body and how it can improve my cycling. I have a website which you can check out at Manual Pedal and YouTube channel. I've been biking all my life. My dad said one I picked up my bike I never put it down and he's right, I never will put it down until it's my time. I started in BMX which then led me to track and road cycling. I now do road cycling exclusively and bike touring and bikepacking when time permits.

I can often go off in tangents so to leave on a lite note... I'm really psyched to be apart of this community and looking forward to learning and sharing.

Best Regards,

Dwayne _/\_

Hey y'all I'm building a bicycle and saving some cash to start an epic bike ride from Central California to South America. I have no end goal in mind, I just want to hit the road and stay vegan while seeking out the best fruit along the way. Ideally I want to keep touring around the world for years to come and spread the vegan message. I'd like to volunteer/work on fruit farms along the way and connect with other vegans and fruitheads. I'm thinking about documenting the experience on youtube or some other social media but we'll see how that goes, I'm pretty techno-phobic but I'm starting to change my views on the subject. After following Freelea and Durianrider on youtube I've realized that the internet is one of the best places to spread the vegan message and connect with like-minded people. I'm looking for all the help, tips and advice I can get. A lot of people are telling me that I'll be robbed, killed or forced to eat animal products along the way but I'm not buying into that propaganda. I plan on riding a moutain-bike frame that I'm currently working on and pulling a one wheel BOB trailer. Hopefully I can fit a whole banana box on it :) . I'll be camping out mostly unless I'm invited to stay with kind folks or give in to a cheap motel. I have not much money at the moment and am technically homeless. A big challenge will be raising the funds and continuing to fund the journey along the way while being able to purchase quality fruit. Thanks everyone and I'm so stoked to join the 30BAD community!

Do you want to clear your acne and regain your health?Has your skin become worse on what you thought was a healthy vegan diet? It’s so frustrating, I know!I struggled with severe acne for 5 years — to the point of contemplating suicide — even on a vegan and HCLF diet. It took me many years of experimentation to determine how to heal my skin and reclaim my health on a fruit-based diet. Now that I am getting the results I am after I am sharing everything I know through The Fruit Solution (www.thefruitsolution.com) and you can read my acne story and the first three chapters of my comprehensive ebook for free so please do check it out!My experience has been that some fruits cause acne for some individuals and most cooked foods cause acne (and/or) other inflammatory symptoms for almost all individuals. There will be people that tell you it's just a detox that will soon pass but that wasn't the case for me (unless the 'detox' lasted four years?!) and isn't the case for most.My primary recommendations would be (1) to keep your HCLF diet alkaline as well as low inflammation and (2) to go on a mono diet for a while and then slowly test fruits to see if they cause YOU (everyone is different) acne. This can be best achieved by sticking to a diet of bananas, papaya, sweet potato, yams and tender leafy greens for as long as possible. Your skin should completely heal up within 7-30 days unless it's a particularly stubborn case. If you include cooked foods on a regular basis then it's crucial to keep them to alkaline foods such as sweet potato! Sweet potato is alkaline forming and won't cause acne in my experience over the years whilst I cannot say the same for rice and other grains unfortunately. The most common fruits that often cause acne to those who are sensitive include citrus, nightshades (e.g. tomatoes), berries and pineapple. For much more comprehensive recommendations about how to clear your skin on a fruit-based-based diet please have a look at www.thefruitsolution.com where I have compiled over 21,000 words of information — lots of which is free.
image.png

I'm 19 years old, living in Finland, and studying travel and tourism. I'd like to just quit the school and leave, and never come back BUT

-can I just buy tickets and fly there?

-is there some paperwork/visas/other stuff I need to do?

-how to get apartment and all the stuff I need, phone card etc. ?

-do you live/know someone who lives there who could help me get started?

Honestly, I have no idea about probably anything, even tho I live on my own my parents still pay half of my things and have always taken care of "adult things" I think I have never even get to know what they are..

Why Thailand? Because I've heard it's cheap and the fruits are amazing and it's easier to go than usa or Australia. If you know some other countries please tell.

I know I can do whatever I want to. But I'd just like to know HOW. I doubt I can't just buy tickets and fly there, no?

IF YOU HAVE MOVED TO THAILAND OR SOMEWHERE, PLEASE SHARE YOUR EXPERIENCES PLEASE

thank you (:

(no one can beat a babies transit time, banana puree for the win haha!)

on a side note: invest in the higher quality dried fruit that is softer and fresher if you are having trouble digesting dried fruit. some of the stuff i see in the super markets is literally harder than a brick, but wayyy cheaper (or soak it for dayssss! haha)
