Hello all,

Wanted to share my new book "Bike Camp Cookbook" with you all. It derived from a cross country bicycle tour from New York to California in 2014. I prepared meals outside that were healthy, quick and easy to make. All the meals were prepared from my SnowPeak solo camp stove and the food at markets and gas stations.

Take a look inside! You can download a copy 08/15 - 08/19. I believe my book is the answer to many people who camp and/or bike tour who worry about food and other meals to prepare while out on extended or even short weekend adventure. It's also a book you can adapt to your own style of cooking and perhaps change your perspective overall.

In addition to the food I have 4 stories from the road of my favorite places I've traveled through in the U.S. These locations include Kansas, Colorado, Nevada and Virginia. I'm really psyched on the images because they really take me back to when I was on this trip. I'm pumped for this and hope it can be of help to many of you who are planing a trip or looking at getting creative at the camp site.

Lastly please leave an honest review.

Link to Book: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01JGKVKUS#navbar

Hey all!,

I'm new here! I wasn't exactly sure where to start so I figured I'd post here. Psyched I joined up and consider myself a student and teacher of life. My goal is to gain as much knowledge from you all and share mine in return. I first found out about "30 Bananas A Day" from a friend who suggested I check out Durianrider's YouTube channel. I was about a week into my bicycle tour riding racked from New York to California which took me 75 days(you can watch the video here). I was on the path to mastery and needed inspiration which Durian provided. Not only has he changed my perspective on eating but my life. After my trip in 2014 I've been doing the "Raw Till 4" lifestyle and my cycling and overall life has improved.

While I still have many things to work on, I'd like to gain more of a knowledge base around food and what it does for my body and how it can improve my cycling. I have a website which you can check out at Manual Pedal and YouTube channel. I've been biking all my life. My dad said one I picked up my bike I never put it down and he's right, I never will put it down until it's my time. I started in BMX which then led me to track and road cycling. I now do road cycling exclusively and bike touring and bikepacking when time permits.

I can often go off in tangents so to leave on a lite note... I'm really psyched to be apart of this community and looking forward to learning and sharing.

Best Regards,

Dwayne _/\_

And recently I've been putting around 200g of sugar in my smoothies daily, since the fruit here is not sweet at all and it's what I can afford at the moment, and I'm wondering if it's too much sugar (that doesn't come from fruit).

Hello internet,
I joined this website about a year ago, and didn't really commit to 801010 (well, really raw till four, sometimes just raw breakfast) until about 6mo ago, but I've been having trouble with it. It's hard for me to eat more than 1800-2000 calories, and from what I've read and the Youtube videos I've watched, it seems like people lose weight when they eat more? Is that a thing? I used to intensely restrict calories (skipped meals in high school, disordered eating, all that lovely stuff), and now I'm concerned that I screwed up my metabolism. I'm 21, 5ft3 and weigh ~120lbs, but I feel best when I'm at 110-112--I just feel less weighed down and better in my clothes then, you know? I had the obligatory freshman-in-college weight gain a couple years ago before I discovered healthy food and got up to 140 for a few months, so I wonder if that confused my body too? Any thoughts, fruitbats?

Oh, I'm also not too active, and would rather not become a marathon runner or anything. Yoga's about as athletic as I tend to be.

Thanks, all!!

I know Durianrider and Freelee might not read this but I just want to put it out there so anyone reading this can see how grateful I am to be introduced to these two amazing people :) You guys rock <3

A little about myself, like Freelee, I have been battling with eating disorder for almost a third of my life. Always have been afraid of what I put in my mouth. Controlling food intake was my only way to feel significant and "being in control" of my life. Little did I know, the seemingly harmless act has led me to a very, very dark place where being thin was all i can see, all i want to be and all i care about. It got to the point where depression hit me hard and I was so ashame to go outside, to be with friends and relatives because of the fear of everyone else's judgement about my "fatness" or my "flaws" or any of the mistakes i may make (think about it, how stupid i was, to care about everyone else' opinions but my own needs).

Later, I've got into a few relationships but they never lasted because of my own insecurity and unwillingness to give up what i called "the secret". I would rather lock myself in my room, weighing food, logging calories, going for a jog, reading or watching movies about ED related than socialising and doing what's considered more beneficial. However, things started to change around when I met my boyfriend. He has always been there to support and help me through this hard time despite how emotionally crazy I could be at times :P. And so, slowly, little by little, I finally came to realize life is so much more than the number on the scale and finally got the courage to admit I deserve to be free and do and have what I truly want in life <3

Anyways, long story short, during the 6 months spent with my boyfriend, we came across those videos of Durianrider and Freelee promoting the low fat raw vegan lifestyle. I got really intrigued because at the time, I was still undereating due to the fear of gaining all the weight I have lost back, so I just wanted something that works, that keeps me fit and healthy LONG TERM. I started doing more research about the diet, watching a tons of videos about the consequences of eating meat and also the benefits of adopting a plant based diet. I started watching more and more videos of Durianrider and Freelee, and even bought Freelee's book - "Go fruit yourself" (awesome book by the way!). Everything about this lifestyle just makes so much sense to me and that's why I decided to do a one week trial of the diet with my boyfriend (One week, what a joke I know but bare with me here :P).

After only a week, I started to notice a HUGE difference in my energy level. My skin started to clear up. My digestion got so much better, no more bloating or stomach pains. No more body odor whatsoever. But the greatest benefit I would like to emphasize is how eating enough calories from fruits has helped improve my mood and brought more positivitity and abundance in my life. As a result, we decided to keep going with the diet and never looked back. I can't even say how grateful I am to discover this lifestyle that not only benefit myself but also others, the animals and the planet. It is such a WIN WIN WIN WIN situation :D

Harley and Freelee have helped me so much to overcome the fear of "calories". They taught me how to view food as fuel, as what my body needs to function optimally. They taught me how to eat enough so that I can have more energy, so that i can give out more to the world and live the life I want. I remember one day a friend of mine was attacking me through texts (I wouldn't go into details here). Normally, I would take this personally and probably feel all sad, sorry for myself and wonder why bad things always happen to me. BUT NOT THIS TIME, because I was fully CARBED UP. My mind was clear and my thinking was always heading towards the positive side. I did not sit on the side and let life pass me by, instead, I went full on and fight for it. I said everything on my mind to that person whom was once my friend. But I also reacted in a much calmer state of mind coming from positivity and love.

All of these wouldn't happen if I did not stumble across you guys' videos. Thank you Harley and Freelee for being such an amazing inspiration for me and thousands of people out there <3 Thank you for never being afraid of telling the ruthless truth <3 Thank you for always standing up for what you believe <3 And last but not least, thank you for living your life purpose of helping others living their life purposes <3

Sunny,

With love.

I initially cut out processed foods, sugar, dairy and coffee (I used to be a 3-5 times a week bucket of Starbucks person). Took around 6 weeks until I drifted off meat and fish and went totally plant-based (rather than labelling myself a vegan because I do have leather shoes and I have honey on a rare occasion). Since the beginning of this year I have taken zero meds yet my fasting blood sugar has more than halved from being too high to being perfectly normal, my high blood pressure has gone and so has my high cholesterol (8+ down to 4.2). Weight-wise, I've dropped over 6 stone and I'm slim for the first time in my life. I'm now around 90-95% raw and I feel so so SO much better and I'm really healthy.

I've been playing with diet the past couple of months and I've tried the "eat all you care for" but I started to put weight on although in hindsight I think it was a mixture of putting more muscle on (I've upped my weights at the gym) and I was also eating stuff like organic, nothing added peanut butter and that really didn't suit me. I'll be honest, I've always been sceptical about the large banana and date smoothies but I've been having 1 or 2 a day together with the usual fruit, green salads etc and the weight is starting to fall and I'm getting leaner. It goes against what we've been taught by mainstream but it's working! I take back all my worries Freelee and Harley LOL. I was at the gym yesterday and my thoughts drifted to adverts here in the uk from years back about "can you pinch an inch" where it showed people pinching their fat on their sides so I tried it and I couldn't pinch an inch! I could manage half of that! It just proved that I'm getting leaner and putting muscle on. It's SO wonderful and a whole new life for me :-)

So here I am, hi everyone :-)

Daz

And also unpictured: persimmons, mangos, pineapples, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, grapes, cucumbers, courgettes, peppers and lemons!

The past three days have been spent in pure bliss! My little cousin came to visit bringing cakes she had baked before catching sight of me eating a persimmon. She asked what it was and when I offered her one, she left the cake almost instantly and absolutely devoured the fruit! It made me so happy to share the love :)

And now for my Christmas dinner! Truly the best one in all of my seventeen (and a half) years. I'm happy to share :) Followed by festive pumpkin apple pie!And finally, as promised, a photo of me last Christmas - life taken over by an eating disorder, trying to hide under baggy clothes, hair dye and lots of makeup. I can't even express to you the guilt I felt that day from eating and I spent Boxing Day restricting my food and running until I could barely stand. I know I'm smiling but there is no life behind my eyes; the following six months were torturous. And now for this year! Happy, healthy, free and present - fully appreciative and grateful for my family, wonderful gifts and festive feast. Completely makeup-free, my natural hair and a genuine grin :D Boxing Day spent doing yoga, watching films with my family, walking our lovely dogs in the great British rain (!) and eating more food!

And so all that's left for me to do is THANK YOU. Each and every one of you that is part of the 811 community I feel so proud to be a part of. You have quite literally saved my life and I adore you all! I hope you are enjoying beautiful Christmases with your loved ones and here's to a truly magical 2013! (toasted with a yummy banana-berry smoothie!)All my love and joy,

Meghann :) <3

My family doesn't eat too well. I'm never the one to confront people, or even set my beliefs on the table, but I have a good reason to as my family is practically dying of American food. To start, my family does not eat well. Fruit consumption among them is sparse. (I eat all the fruit that comes through the door. They never buy fruit for themselves because they rather eat meat and tv dinners.)They rarely eat vegetables - if they do it's alongside a steak and it's sparse. Probably half a cup of peas or carrots a dinner plate.) this is not everyday. They probably eat 2 or 3 whole veggie servings a week. Second, my parents are both ending their lives slowly. My mother has kidney disease. She's goin into dialysis soon enough and she still gargles down multiple sodas and bags of chips a day. Surprisingly, she's not obese. She's around 5"7 and weighs 160 (Roughly). Her diet reflects her cowardly attitude towards life. Everytime I talk to her about eating healthy she babbles and says "But I'll be dead soon enough." yeah... No shit. Third. My father has diabetes type 1. That doesn't stop him from crunching cakes, sodas, cheese, Hungrymen Tv dinners, wheat. Etc. It's a disaster. Their health cripples their bodies and they're unwilling to change their diets. I can now see clearly they are addicted to American food. I rather them eat processed vegetarian foods than this stuff. Any tips on confronting them?

Becoming high carb raw vegan takes a great deal of willpower. Until recently, I have been operating under the assumption that willpower is limited and has to be divided between each of my priorities and goals.

This mindset is changing after I started reading The Willpower Instinct (http://www.amazon.com/Willpower-Instinct-Self-Control-Works-Matters/dp/1583334386/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1326748857&sr=8-1). The author lays out the science behind willpower. Over the last 10 years, neuroscientists have discovered that the brain is not "fixed" as once believed. Instead, the concept of neuroplasticity describes how the brain rewires itself into new patterns of behavior and thought depending on both external and internal stimuli. Dr. McGonigal (no relation to the famous Hogwarts professor) explains that willpower can be increased by exercising positive, small choices throughout the day, thereby building the willpower "muscles."

Those of us who struggle with temptation to eat cooked food can learn how to strengthen our willpower by stopping before putting something unhealthy in our mouth and making a choice to eat a piece of fruit before eating anything else. By doing this several times a day, we make it easier to use our willpower. What do you think?
