That puts me in obese range. I have struggled with weight and food issues my entire life. From when i was a kid in school not packing food then coming home and binging, Then becoming a teen and able to buy my own junk food and binging on food even more. I have tried plant based and vegan diets in the past but never stuck to it long term. Im so uncomfortable getting chaffing and being over weight. One other thing, i had a knee reconstruction few years back due to sports related injury, i put on heaps of weight and had to retrain my leg to move. I also currently have sciatica pain but has gotten better over the years, and recently got diagnosed with planter fasciitis which hurts alot but is getting better.

I wanted to join this forum because i dont really have support in the real world. I want to get healthy so i can live longer and not be one of those obese people dying young. I have started a tiktok food diaries, instagram and youtube channel called Skitters Lunch Box. I am on a big journey and I really want to be the best version of myself and live up to my morals of loving nature, myself and animals. I hope you will join me on my journey to better health :)

That seems like a lot of weight gain, I'm only 5'3'', and I was +45lbs overweight to begin with.

Has anyone else experience something like this or am I doing something wrong?...

Thank you.

I've been chatting with him lately about changing his diet (he's already in agreement with eating less meat and dairy, but not vegetarian or vegan) to high-carb. He disagrees on the higher-calorie thing, and on simpler meals (natural-hygene-type-diet) and thinks that he already eats high-carb (but he doesn't). Since I'm 17 and have only been following this diet for two years, and used it to GAIN and maintain weight in recovery from an eating disorder, he doesn't give my opinions much thought.

Quick background of my dad:

50 years old

General Contractor/Carpenter: does a lot of heavy lifting and has a lot of achey issues, especially with bursitis in his shoulder

Highly active as a young'un, used to be a swimmer and football player and worked a lot as a kid, used to eat massive amounts of food (like most active male teens)

Hates that his metabolism has slowed so much and how it's harder to loose weight: weighed 170ish in his twenties and now weighs about 220 (not sure of the exact number, but he says that he's fifty pounds overweight)

Always has a beef with my arguments about veganism/fruitarianism (no, I don't bring them up or argue them very often, but they do inevitably sometimes pop-up and we occasionally get into a debate that can get frustrating), but this is because he likes to analyze and scrutinize everything, like me.

I know that we have some wise and seasoned members on this forum--would any of you be willing to share your experiences with the high-carb lifestyle? I would be oh-so-very grateful for anyone's story! Be sure to include age (at least approx. ), a quick background, and a brief outline of your diet. The title seems a bit harsh ; I couldn't think of anything else to title it, okay?

My mom is severely obese. I've been going to doctors appointments with her (I'm so bored this Summer, what else can I do? :p) and she is 5' 1 and over 350 pounds. (That's a body mass index of 66.1!! Holy shitaki mushrooms!!) She eats and eats and eats crap food all day,*eating right now as I am typing this* and will not get up off of her bum to exercise. Heck, she can't even walk for five minutes without needing to sit down for another ten. She has diabetes type two, and takes tons of pills/vitamins daily. (I'm talking, maybe fifty?)

She has tried multiple diets in the past, but has gained all of the weight back. She does have a problem with bingeing and food is a very sensitive subject to her. Every time my mom eats she yells "don't judge me!" when really, I don't judge ANYONE by how they eat. It is rude and disrespectful. Yes, I do look at her while she eats, and that is because she is always talking while she eats. It's rude to look away from someone while they are speaking to you.

My dad (who is fifty-one going on thirty, very fit and healthy) and I are both very, very, worried about her. This year she had a horrid kidney stone that lasted for four months and had to be removed via surgery.

I really want what is best for her. I love my mother to pieces and want her to live a long, healthy life. She is 43 years old. The high carb low fat vegan diet (whether cooked or raw) is what is best for her, I know that for a fact. Is there any way I can inform her about this lifestyle without making her cry or feel pressured? I don't want to push her into anything, don't want to tell her she is fat, or make her feel absolutely awful about herself. I know this might not be any of my business, but if my father and everyone else in the family is worrying about her, something needs to be done.

Thanks for any help, it's really appreciated.

Hi everyone,

I had a long telephone conversation with my friend (my "big sister") last night, as she lives on the other side of the country and I see her too little.

She had a history of drug-use since she met her husband (as he was also a drug-user), but luckily both of them stopped it together. However, what I to this day don't understand is that she smokes (cigarettes) since she ended the drug-use, which she didn't do prior to her drug-use.

I also knew since I met her is that she suffers from binge-eating-disorder, migraines, sleep problems, and high-blood-pressure. She also has borderline, but has that under control. She is vegan since 2009 or 2010.

What shocked me tremendously was that she's not only doing badly with bingeing, but (even though she hates herself for doing it and doesn't want to do it) she eats dairy products such as cheese and ice cream. :( She was afraid I would hate her when she told me that. Though I reassured her that is not the case, but did say that it's not good at all what she does, but at the same time told her I'm there for her.

She really wants to lose weight and (as far as I know) still has the unhealthy wish that she were anorexic. Having formerly suffered from anorexia myself that breaks my heart to hear that from her. :(

Regardless, I told her more about my lifestyle (she already knew that I followed it without much further details). I gave her Olivia's link as well (as it is in German). She said she'll look at it and think about it, although she was skeptic and meant regardless of how much fruit and vegetables she'll eat, she could never be full. I know that phrase too well and know (without having to ask) that she's never tried eating large quantities (so I kept it to myself). She also finds it unimagineable not to eat bread & co.

What she needs is optimal health - 80/10/10. I really want to help her, but I think I'm doing the best that I can do at the moment - correct me if I'm wrong. The rest, she must take in her own hands.

Have any of you had similar situations with any friends/acquaintances?

I am grateful for any feedback and/or tips.

Many thanks in advance.

I live in London and it's always super cold in here... I know that's just my ego finding excuses not to go for runs but I feel quite guilty everyday that I don't excercise. Could it also be that I need a running partner? I don't personally know any other lfrv, I'm sorrounded by people that keep telling me "all those dates and bananas will give you a blood sugar problem!" and since I know this is a long-term process I'm not even able to prove them wrong by showing how much weight I've lost... I might have lost a couple of kilos of water but it becomes very hard to carry on with no support whatsoever. My only support are Durianriders and Freelee's videos plus some books.

I want to be able to go out in nature and enjoy the warmth of the sun, the beach... instead I find myself struggling to be on time for classes and meetings and some days stuck in the house all day in front of the computer. I want to go for a run but I just can't get myself to do it. Is it because I'm 30 kilos overweight? Do I need to stop worrying about excercising? I know it sounds like such a lame problem but I do get very stressed everytime I don't excercise because I'm too lazy.

I want to get myself a bike but I can't afford it at the moment. Getting a bike would be the perfect solution because I will have to excercise every time I want to get anywhere. Does someone in London have a bike for cheap?

Thanks for reading this and please comment if you have any suggestions!

FrutArianna

Hello, my mom asked me to live with them again for the reason that my dad looks really unhealthy. He is smoking, drinking, is overweight and has a huge beer belly, eats really bad fried food, will be 60 in two days and he is always working stressing job where he has to argue a lot. We are really worried. I cant look at him anymore, so I moved back home. My dad's temper is really bad, he is a choleric, be too. It is really hard for us not to argue. But I want to help my parents to start healthier living.

Can anyone help me for the start?

He really wishes to feel better, but its like whole bad habits in one person and the age of the risk to get a stroke.

How to start with a person who is totaly into fried, fat foods and arguing. How to help if it is your own father?

Iam not ready to be a life teacher for anybody, but there will be no any time and if i will not try, i will regret all my life if we will loose him

Any comments and links will be good.
