After drinking about four cups of juice I feel quite satiated and can go a while without feeling hunger again. I've been considering having a large glass, maybe eight cups of orange juice, for breakfast as a meal because I feel so great afterwards and it's so delicious! I suppose I'm just wondering if having a meal that is solely juice is sufficient for breakfast. What do y'all think? I see a lot of raw eaters have mostly juice throughout the mornings so wondering what y'all's take is

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this community, glad to be here! I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitits (proctitis) about a year ago. Bleeding with diarrhea. I managed to get the diarrhea and bleeding under control through drinking keffir and staying away from grains and legumes. It was the only thing that helped me. Since then my stools are solid however constipation can be a problem every now and then. Bleeding is also a lot less with periods of no bleeding.

I've been vegetarian for almost 10 years now. I tried the high carb raw vegan diet for about two weeks, consisting of mostly bananas, however I did not see much change in my symptoms. I've also tried a juicing only diet. Did not do anything to the bleeding (except when I juice cabbage). I read Dr. David Klein's book, and am eating mostly potatoes and easy to digest food after I stopped with the raw vegan diet.

Current symptoms are slight bleeding, constipation every now and then, burning feeling in my rectum, lots of burning gas depending on what I eat. I feel very underweight at 55kg (121 pounds) and 173cm. I'm even trying a high protein low residue diet consisting of banana shakes with vegan protein and olive/flax oil to see if I can gain some weight and give my bowels a rest (low fibre). Supplements include l-glutamine and high quality vitamins. Yes I know this is contrary to high carbon lifestyle but I'm really trying everything here. I'm also on oregano oil, wormwood and black walnut to make sure that I don't have an overgrowth of some parasite or something.

As you can see, I'm currently trying some things and have been through a lot. I need do adopt a lifestyle that will ultimately cure my disease. For that I need support and advice from people who have potentially been through the same that I have. From my beliefs as a Christian and science I know the raw vegan diet is the best for me, however I have not seen the results as I hoped for. Some people claim miracles after one week on bananas. The only thing that made a real difference for me was keffir and staying away from grains and legumes, however it did not heal me, just took care of most of the symptoms.

Any advice will be appreciated! I want to put this horrible disease behind me and live a normal life for a change.

Hello everyone!

I'm going into my senior year of high school this September. I've been vegan since fall of last year, and vegetarian for a few years before that. Since around April, I've upped my intake of whole fruits and vegetables. I feel amazing. I've become more fit and stronger, and overall I feel my health has greatly increased.

However, lately I've been getting sick every time I eat cooked food. I tried cutting gluten, which my dad is intolerant of. That helped, but I'm still getting nauseous after dinner. Evidently this is problematic, as I still live at home with my family. I've been eating 100% raw until dinner, which I eat high carb low fat vegan, but cooked. My family is very supportive of my decision to be vegan, and also they've also seen my health increase.

I feel my best on 100% raw. This summer is my opportunity to at least try going completely raw for a week. I'm hoping that after this my parents will let me go raw indefinitely.

Do you have any advice for how I could go about talking about going 100% raw? Like I said, my family is very open to this. My mom is vegetarian, but I'm the only hardcore vegan here. But I don't want to rush into anything with them.

I've already hinted that once I hit college, I'm going raw. But I hope that I can do this before then, otherwise it's going to be another year of nausea after cooked food.

Thanks in advance to any advice. I really need it.

Hey everyone! I came from a restrictive low carb diet and decided to try RT4 because I knew I needed to grow some ovaries and tackle my restrictive eating problem. I was so tired of merely existing and wanted to thrive.

The amount of calories made me very nervous and it was a challenge to trust food again. I gradually increased my calories and now am getting 2000 minimum a day and 3 liters of water. I'm working up to 2500 :). I feel so alive! I love working out, am hitting PR's in running, and I don't feel exhausted after. I'm completely satisfied every day, I get better sleep, and my skin is so soft. I can trust my whole, plant, vegan, high carb food and I can eat as much as I want! I also love it because it's doable and sustainable long-term. I can go out to restaurants and find something HCLF, and I don't feel socially isolated because of my food.

I experienced bloating and digestion upset at the beginning because my body wasn't used to digesting much food at all, and both symptoms went away within 2 weeks. I have eaten RT4 for almost a month and I'm very happy eating this way. I have not gained any weight but that is not what my focus is on. I feel like I'm actually alive and I am happy.

Just wanted to share my experience :)

Hey all!,

I'm new here! I wasn't exactly sure where to start so I figured I'd post here. Psyched I joined up and consider myself a student and teacher of life. My goal is to gain as much knowledge from you all and share mine in return. I first found out about "30 Bananas A Day" from a friend who suggested I check out Durianrider's YouTube channel. I was about a week into my bicycle tour riding racked from New York to California which took me 75 days(you can watch the video here). I was on the path to mastery and needed inspiration which Durian provided. Not only has he changed my perspective on eating but my life. After my trip in 2014 I've been doing the "Raw Till 4" lifestyle and my cycling and overall life has improved.

While I still have many things to work on, I'd like to gain more of a knowledge base around food and what it does for my body and how it can improve my cycling. I have a website which you can check out at Manual Pedal and YouTube channel. I've been biking all my life. My dad said one I picked up my bike I never put it down and he's right, I never will put it down until it's my time. I started in BMX which then led me to track and road cycling. I now do road cycling exclusively and bike touring and bikepacking when time permits.

I can often go off in tangents so to leave on a lite note... I'm really psyched to be apart of this community and looking forward to learning and sharing.

Best Regards,

Dwayne _/\_

But the thing is that I live with my family and it's been pretty problematic. (I'm still not an adult) They're constantly saying me that what I am doing is ridiculous and not normal. Whenever they ask what am I going to have for lunch and I respond "I'm going to have fruit" they make me faces. I REALLY FEEL BAD AND GUILTY AND IT'S ACTUALLY NOT A THING TO BE GUILTY ABOUT. I've shown them all the things that I know and the benefits that a high fruit diet can do to your body. Even heavy pain and flows of menstruation have disappeared! I can't seem to explain this! They're just saying "Oh so you found another trend. Now you're not only vegan but you are an almost raw vegan." And what I say to that is that I've known raw veganism for such a long time I just didn't have the courage to do it because of this reason, so I wouldn't be said things like this for not having cooked food at the table. What should I do? Can you guys feel me? And also do oranges lower body defenses because of the content of arginine? That's what I've been told.... Huh..... Sigh.....

So I've been going all out on the non-restriction thing, having 10 banana smoothies every morning, another 1,000 calorie smoothie for lunch, and huge bowls of rice and pasta for dinner. My family is part of the whole "carbs make you fat" movement, so every time they see me have these meals, they raise their eyebrows and comment, "That's a lot of white rice..." "You're eating THAT many bananas?" "Wow, you're really going to town, tonight!" etc. Especially the bananas, they tell me how they've read that they're pure sugar, high in carbs, blah blah.

Besides me explaining that pure, natural carbs don't cause insulin spikes because of the fiber in the foods, I also explain to them that humans are meant to live off of plant-based carbohydrates, and that I don't believe humans should limit their intake of fruit any more than a lion should limit his intake of gazelle, or a caterpillar should limit his intake of leaves.

So I eat a lot in spite of their comments, because I'm frankly tired of restricting myself so much. All my life I've been adapting my portion sizes to the people around me, even though I knew those measly meals wouldn't satisfy me. Especially since I'm a woman, but I find myself naturally wanting to eat more than most men eat, so I feel like there's something wrong with me.

There is a little voice inside my head that tells me I shouldn't have such a voracious appetite, that I should have more "feminine" portions, but my under carbed brain allows interrupts and says, "Screw that! I'm gonna eat as much as I want, I am so done with restricting myself and feeling unsatisfied because of it. I don't care if people think I eat a too much, that's none of their business. This is my life, I'm gonna live it to the fullest, and I'm gonna EAT to the fullest!"

So thankfully, I haven't given in to peer pressure, and I don't see myself ever going back to restriction. I'm not gaining weight, so they can't throw any concrete evidence at me against my new eating habits anyway. It'll just be nice when I get the physical results to show them it's actually the reverse!

Has anyone else had any experience with people telling them eating Raw Till 4 will make them fat?
