I have candida and tried the high protein/fat diet. It works okay, but not 100%. I tried to convert over to this by doing low/no fats for a few days and then I switched over and on that day I ate greens for breakfast, 4 bananas for lunch, and greens for dinner. I was afraid to load up on fruit right away and I am glad I didn't. What I experienced was a major yeast outbreak and even felt it in my head/ears. I also had extreme anxiety and moodiness to the point I couldn't be at work. I saw a bunch of yeast in my stool which normally I do not. When I took out the fruit the next day everything settled.

What happened? I am not sure I can handle that experience again.

Also, as much as I would love to make this my lifestyle, I have severe reflux and gastritis. Unfortunately, fruit tends to irritate my esophagus/stomach. I understand this may be the best way to eliminate candida imbalance, but am not sure I can do it beyond a month or so because of the other issues. I also get low blood sugar very easily. If I get to a point where I can't eat so much fruit, can I switch over to low fat grains for a carb source and lower the fruit and sustain my results?

Any help would be much appreciated!

I'm trying out a HCLF vegan lifestyle, and I'm excited to start the journey, but I'm confused about a few things!

Firstly- Almond butter- yes or no? I usually have it on brown bread, which leads me to my next question- is brown bread good or not so much?

And pasta- I bought some gluten free pasta today, is that the best pasta I can be eating on this lifestyle?

I also eat granola and porridge (with almond milk), the granola has sugar added and the porridge sometimes does too, depending on what flavour I choose, any advice on this? Are these foods recommended or should I cut back? What's the deal with refined sugar- a no go or not as bad as people think?

Thank you to anyone who takes time out to give me some much needed guidance and advice! The video I watched entailed that in order to clear candida and parasites, either a high fat (die off) diet should be used (not recommended by this person) or a high fruit diet (in order to get sugar into cells, rather than just in the bloodstream). They also mentioned that any starch eaten will just cause to worsening and maintenance of candida, and that you could only decide between the two (high fruit or high fat). Please let me know as I want to clear my body of any parasites and candida, I want to do it high carb so if this means I have to eat just raw high fruit, how long should I do this for and when will I be able to reintroduce starches again?

About an hour or two before they drew the blood I had had 6 oranges 2 grapefruits and a beet, kale, and apple juice so I was super concerned my glucose would be too HIGH but they called back worried and telling me my blood sugar was 44 when it's supposed to be above 80!!! I felt absolutely fine during and after the blood draw so I have no idea, hopefully it was a mess up in the reading or something!!! This is super concerning! Does anyone know what could be causing this, and how to solve it?? Thanks so much!!!

Okay, 4 weeks ago I participated in a 5K race. After the race they were offering free blood glucose testing, and so I asked them to test me. The result was a worrying 231 especially since I had not eaten for about 11 hours, my last meal being 5lbs. of diced watermelon at 10 pm the night before.

In fact watermelon had been my staple food leading up to the race. Also, I maybe had 2 avocados and a couple of handfuls of brazil nuts during that week, but the previous week I might have eating 10 avocados.

They called over a doctor who asked me a few questions, and told me I most likely had diabetes, but said that I should go to a medical clinic sometime that week and have them do some tests.

Instead of getting tested right away I decided to get Dr. Barnard's book on reversing diabetes and switched my diet to more of what Dr. Barnard recommends: Vegan, no overt fats, and eating foods which are low to medium on the glycemic index, especially legumes. I'm still eating fruits like apples, oranges, grapes, but I'm not eating huge fruit meals like I was before. I'm also restricting my watermelon intake, although yesterday I had some.

So after 3 weeks on the diet, I tested myself again after fasting for 12 hours, and got a reading of 82. The following day it was 85, and today (one week later) it was 85 again.

So what happened? Did eating all that watermelon spike my blood sugar so high that it affected my insulin resistance? Or could just having completed some intense cardio raised my blood sugar because my muscles needed energy and that my glycogen stores were releasing glucose into my veins for my muscles to use.

She knows that not be able to eat fruit and veg isn't very healthy but she would end up visiting the toilet at least 10 times a day and even rice, pasta and potatoes aren't much better. Because its so bad it restricts her socially aswell.Avoiding these foods was advised by doctors and dietitians and seems to be the best thing that works for her but at the same time she must be missing nutrients. She doesn't eat a great deal of meat and in general appears healthy and is rarely sick.

Any ideas please will be gratefully received.

Hi guys, i bought grapes and they have very bitter seed and skin, i really want to juice them to get the calories, but i'm worried about the fiber and sugar absorption.

I though on add some lettuce and cucumber mixed with the juice and throw everything on the blender... do you think this solves any of that 'problem' about juicing? or is it still not enough to make a fiber-sugar meal just like whole fruit?

Thanks guys!

Hi,

I am so excited about finding this lifestyle. I've been eating 80/10/10RV (raw till 4) for about 2 weeks now, and I'm loving it. My energy is great, my attitude is positive, but one thing is really pissing me off...

I went to the doctor this morning to make a note of my diet change, and I was extremely disappointed at her reaction. When I said the word "vegan" her eyebrows shot up, and then when I said "carbohydrates" she started shaking her head.

This is what she told me: "Carbohydrates are bad, bad, bad. Everybody knows these days if you eat to many carbohydrates you will get fat. And also they have so much sugar, you will get diabetes."

I tried to explain how this isn't possible on a low fat diet, and she said diabetes has nothing to do with fat. I know she is wrong, but I can't help but feel so discouraged that my own doctor doesn't understand!

Why aren't more people educated? How can I share my excitement and discoveries with people who are so brainwashed and close-minded? Any support would be appreciated..

Thanks,

Hovey
