I have symptoms of gingivitis since about a month ago and have seen dentists, but they don't have any suggestions for me to heal gingivitis other than flossing and brushing which I am currently doing.

Has anyone experienced gingivitis, if so, what did you do to heal?

I am currently a vegan eating cooked foods, perhaps eating a fruitarian/raw vegan diet would help?

I am using natural mouthwashes and doing salt water rinses and oil pulling currently, but it isn't helping yet.

Any help is much appreciated!

Thanks everyone <3

I brush twice a day with fluoride-free toothpaste and floss once a day. Always flush my mouth with water after eating too. I think they are from dates, I eat them pretty much every day but I have done so for about a year so I don't know what is going on. I've tried to brush the stains more and even scratch them but only some of them have lighten. I feel like there's more every day.

I'm going to dentist soon but they would probably blame all the sugar, so do you have any ideas what's happening?

I also don't drink coffee or anything like that.

Thankss.

Alohas. I put off getting my wisdom teeth out until after they came in just to see if my body would figure it out. Unfortunately they came in but not all the way and developed cavities fairly quickly and now they are starting to decay. So to preserve myself and my other teeth from infection and decay, im choosing to get them outThe painkillers and antibiotic situation is bugging me out some. The oral surgeon won't be honest and tell me if they are all optional or not. They just say this is the normal procedure and this is what everyone does. Which doesn't cut it for me and is super annoying. So i might get the painkillers just incase something goes wrong and drink coco water and probiotics instead of the antibiotics. But then they want u to take a pill to make you1r mouth dry and also a muscle relaxer before the surgery. Idk....I read an old post on here about eating tons of pineapple the night before to help with inflammation which I think I'm gonna do. I also liked hearing about the garlic tricks too.Anything you feel the need to share about this whole process would really be appreciated. My goal is to make as few compromises to my health and normal practices as possible.Cheers!

I was on a vegan lifestyle for 4 months now. It was fun. It was interesting. It was cleansing. I learned many new things, found a totally new section of youtube I did not know before. Found compassionate people and new books. I listened to Dr. Gregor, Dr. Graham, Harley, watched tons of videos about diet, vegan, and health.

Also I have 2 cavities now. Haven't had any cavities for ... can't remember the last time a dentist said something. At LEAST 15 years. And I go see a dentist every 1/2 year for checkup.

I bough the book "Stop tooth decay" from Ramiel Nagel, and it seems to make a lot of sense. I'm going to try that. For general discussion, let me paste one paragraph from his website:

"Successful vegans in general seem to be either previously overweight people who then go vegan or people who had amazing diets as children with lots of high quality animal products, and then go vegan as adults."

let me post a photo from someone who was overweight and had lots of high quality animal products as a kid:

Not judging. Watching Harley's videos is part of my day and I learn a lot from him. He inspires me in many ways. I watched today and will tomorrow, and will keep following you and be part of this.

But now it's also about my teeth. And I have to find the best diet for my body, mind, AND my teeth. I'm not a religious person, therefore I will strictly follow what works, and leave my mind and feelings out of the equation.

Here's the link to the tooth book, for discussion:

http://www.curetoothdecay.com/Tooth_Decay/tooth_cavity_vegan.htm

Hello. So, my brother ate fullyraw for a week or so too. He's never read 80/10/10 and just followed a bit of my advice. So far he was doing great, told me he felt better than ever etc... but today after i got up he told me that he couldn't sleep bc he had been worroed about his teeth. Apparently there were black dots all over his teeth and they'd gotten really sensitive. And then he started off about how much 80/10/10 sucks... if you live somewhere like in europe and not in hawaii or thailand or california, where you can eat fresh RIPE fruit. He said that the fruit you can get here contains way too much acids and other unhealthy substances because they were picked unripe and are usually being unnaturally ripened afterwards. So now he goes back to eating potatoes, sproute grains and sourdough bread. But I don't wanna believe that. Sure my teeth have also been a little sensitive sometimes, but that didn't stay longer than a day and you could also argument that i am eating a lot of smoothies, which could be a reason why less fruit and acids stick to my teeth.I do agree that it would be SO much easier if we lived somewhere like hawaii, but i still believe in this lifestyle.... even here, in Switzerland. I know that the food that would be natural for us has been denatured and isn't as healthy as it once was, but i just don't want to believe that it has come so far that one couldn't even eat a healthy hcrv diet when he lives somewhere like europe without getting problems... isn't it possible that he ate too many citrus fruits (at last he told me to not eat the kiwis and the citrus bc they're really not ripe)? Or that his body is still too acid bc he is still detoxing and has got all of that overleft foods and toxins in his body that he used to eat? Also, he's got a pancreas insufficiency, if that changes anything.I just don't know what to believe now and I hope that you could give me some reasonable advice....Thank you.

My last was in 2011 and the dentist back then agreedthat my diet was healthy and that my teeth were remineralizing.

Today this is what my inferior incisive and molar teeth look like:

I rince my mouth after every meal and brush 1-2 times a day with a soft vegan brush and water.

This new dentist said that the dark yellow parts between the top of the tooth and the gum are the dentine (the underlying layer) showing because of advanced enamel erosion. That part is indeed sensitive to cold. She suggested I have it covered with resin composite and get tested for fluorine deficiency.

Has any of you had experience with this process or resin composite fillings? Is the material even safe? I found the following studies advocating that the biodegradation of the composite inside the mouth releases substances that could pose health issues:

I don't what to do. Should I go ahead and have the dentine cleaned and covered with resin, or simply focus on eating less dried fruit and hope it stabilizes or remineralizes?

Obviously, the dentist got very offended when I explained to her why dairy and toothpaste with glycerin are definitely not healthy options. And she argued it was the fruit and citrus that caused this.

Thanks for your help!

I'm under the impression my body sets to work digesting whatever is inside as soon as it enters my mouth. My understanding is that specific foods require specific digestive juices and their presence inspires the production of those juices internally (that's why we strive to combine foods well, so there aren't contrasting digestive reactions occurring at once).

I'm curious what you think- will brushing my teeth immediately after a meal cause my body to change the digestive reaction it's making for the food in my stomach? Will it stop secreting juices to digest my food and start secreting something different to deal with toothpaste?

Thanks for any input :)

I'm about to go to the dentist about my wisdom tooth that has been paining me for a few days (I made a post about it here). I'm a little swollen and they told me if I was too swollen I would have to take an antibiotic to reduce the swelling before being processed.

I'm not sure whether I have an infection, it might also be a possibility that I should have the tooth and maybe 1 more pulled. My point is that I want to take the least compromiseable drugs to my body if any at all. What might help with swelling? Maybe I could use some concoction of clove oil and maybe other herbs and citrus topically to numb the gum during surgery? If I do end up taking pharmaceuticals, what should compounds should I try my best to avoid in the drugs during and post? Fluoride? Ephedrine?

What are rules of thumb? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Hello

I am new here, and i have some questions, if someone can help me

I am Portuguese, so i am sorry for the not correct English, but I'll try my best :-)

I am trying the 811 for a month, doing fruit all day (3 mono meals) and salad at night. I am mixing some boiled potato at night, because i am breastfeeding and several people told me this way the detox is softer.

1. I am loosing a lot of weight. I am 1.74cm and was 60kg, and i lost 5kg already. Until my 22 that was my normal weight, so it's not that what worries me. But its this normal or i am eating not enough? I am eating like 2500calories. I am breastfeeding a lot, like in 3h/3h, day and night.

2. Last week some white spots appear in my teeth! I've never had this!!

3. My skin, now, is ugly, with no life, lots of wrinkles, ugly color

4. My gums are bleeding now, and not before!

5. On cronometer.com, my calcium its never enough, and the biotin and choline are always very very low. The Zink too. Why? Its trustable the cronometer-com or not?

I am becoming really worried with this. I can give an exemple of the food i eat. Today, 10 bananas+mango with persimmons+8oranges. And at night salad with lettuce(head), 1cucumber1tomato,boiled potatos, redpepper and a spoon of olive oil (i know its not 811)

Can someone please help me? I am worried for me and for my baby :/

I really believe raw is the way, but im afraid i am not doing it right...

2 days ago, 1 of my wisdom teeth that was partially broken through for a while started hurting as I was going to bed. I woke up repeatedly during the night, the pain was pretty bad. After waking up several times it didn't feel that bad in the morning and afternoon, but fast forward to yesterday evening and it started hurting pretty badly again. Last night was a similar ordeal like the night before--repeatedly waking up in pretty bad pain; after waking up a couple times I noticed the side of my jaw is fairly swollen (and the underside slightly as well). I went back to sleep and am now awake and it's still swollen after at least 6 hours. I did ice it a little in the night to seemingly no effect, I guess I will continue to do that.

Can this get better? I have been in pretty bad pain for the last 2 days, can barley open my mouth and chew so have only being drinking orange juice. I read from a member here about it not being necessary to extract wisdom teeth and that orthodontists have a way to use special plates for the wisdom teeth to settle properly? I can see the whole tooth including the back side being covered by gum still and it hurts around the backside, does this mean there is just not enough space in my mouth and this procedure might not be applicable to myself? I really don't want to get it removed if I don't have to. The tooth on the other side is in the same place as this one had been before (wanting to come out for a while but still mostly covered in gum), so I feel this is bound to happen to that tooth as well. Luckily my top ones came in fine. Please help, I'm hurting and would greatly appreciate the advice.

I've been 811 for 3 months.

I have a painful spot near my gum line on a bottom tooth and a tooth above it. I've always had perfect teeth so this really worries me. I do not blame the diet, I could not live any other way- I finally feel good!

I've been reading a lot of advice, a lot which contradict each other.

There's toothpaste or no toothpaste: I'm going with toothpaste, this one: http://www.uncleharrys.com/store/product_info.php/tooth-paste-peppermint-glass-jar-p-1490?osCsid=1842hgrq5m38ov9ggpma5jac17

There's brushing before, after, or 1/2 hour after eating. Before eating makes sense to me, then rinsing after eating with a baking soda tea tree mix.

There's don't eat citrus, it's too acidic or eat oranges for the calcium? I have no idea on this one..

Brushing away from the gums definitely!

Has anybody used dr. tungs gum healing oil?

What is your 'set' of dental care advice? Is the toothpaste I'm using too abrasive? I've been thinking about just using tea tree oil. And, of course, what about citrus? I got in the habit of licking lemons and limes just about every night, it's soo good for some reason, but I'm definitely going to stop doing that.
