Good day everyone!
I have been vegan since I was 15 years old (I am now 23) and I was raw vegan on and off when I was younger. I have symptoms of gingivitis since about a month ago and have seen dentists, but they don't have any suggestions for me to heal gingivitis other than flossing and brushing which I am currently doing.
Has anyone experienced gingivitis, if so, what did you do to heal?
I am currently a vegan eating cooked foods, perhaps eating a fruitarian/raw vegan diet would help?
I am using natural mouthwashes and doing salt water rinses and oil pulling currently, but it isn't helping yet.
Any help is much appreciated!
Thanks everyone <3

Hello!
It is really important how you clean your teeth. Using irrigator and different picks and flosses correctly does help. Mouth wash is a no no - it kills all good flora together with the bad one. Oil pulling has not been proven to have an effect really. See the hygienist and a good doctor too :) please get better! Gums are super important
Other factors then diet can affect gum/teeth health, poor sleep and hydration to name two factors.
Wow thank you so much for your response! I didn't know that! I didn't know that sleep could affect your gum health! I haven't been sleeping enough at all so maybe that could be a factor! Thanks again! :) I really appreciate your suggestions!
I have been amazed at how well oil pulling works. I have been dealing with pain from a root canal that was removed improperly, leaving me with an onging infection in my jaw which flares when eating inflamatory foods. (Root canals can be deadly, never get one). Cold pressed is a must for any oil. Sunflower oil I am told by my Doc is best- Cocount oil, Sesame oil and even Olive oil work too. And 3-5 times a day of 5-20 minutes is for acute problems. Also some people say to add oregano oil or clove oil, a drop or two to the oil pulling mixture. Then rinse with warm salt water. Best wishes! :)
Good day Ednshell,
Thank you so much! I will try doing it multiple times a day! I really appreciate your help! :)
hi there :) first thing is definitely take out all cooked foods and try the frugivore raw food diet. do a search throughout the site for loads of information.
be careful of flossing too vigorously.
buy the softest bristle toothbrush you can find and always brush gently.
chew on tumeric root at night after brushing, i've heard this can be quite effective in helping reduce inflammation. there are literally thousands of scientific studies on the benefits of tumeric. and apparently one study in 2012 showed that curcumin in tumeric can prevent gingivitis, or gum disease.
lettuce know how you go! and getting that cooked food out as soon as possible is a must.
Good day Freelee! :)
Thank you so much for your response! I really value it! I will start chewing on tumeric root at night and I will go raw vegan asap! Watching your videos when I was 15 is what made me vegan in the first place, so thank you so much for sharing your message of veganism and fruitarianism! <3 You are incredibly inspirational and helpful, and for that I am so grateful! <3
