Our last hope of saving Captain Watson from extradition is to convince German officials at the Ministry of Justice and Ministry of Foreign Affairs to step in and overturn their decision. Let her know that the warrant for Captain Watson's arrest is politically motivated and thus should be ignored by the German government. With international support we can set Captain Watson free, and keep him from the possibility of facing an unfair trial in Costa Rica.

as you may know paul forfeited bail.
no one seemed too concerned and a few months later he received the jules verne award.
then there was this petition to not have the usa extradite paul.
sscs has been going strong regardless as you can see from their site.
perhaps someone else has more info on this.

Hi prad, thank you, one of the question and answers links explained it nicely, to bad the accusations weren’t dropped or handled, basically the situation is still the same and can happen again.
ya it can happen again, but as with many of these things it takes time, effort and money. many politicians don't want to risk their reputations going after someone like paul especially since he has such worldwide support. doing it once is fine, but since that got nowhere, we can hope, that such foolishness won't be repeated.

Operation Zero Tolerance objective: intercept and intervene against the intent of the Japanese whaling fleet to murder 1,035 whales in the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary. So far this campaign is on target. The Japanese whaling fleet remains in the Inland Sea of Japan and still has not left. This is the latest they have ever left and we do not expect them in the Southern Ocean until early January. The whalers are well aware that we can intercept them prior to their arrival in the Southern Ocean.

No, that's not a Japanese research vessel (anymore) — it's the newest addition to Neptune's Navy, the SSS Sam Simon!
This ship was generously purchased for Sea Shepherd by Los Angeles-based philanthropist and co-creator of TV's "The Simpsons," Mr. Sam Simon. It is an ice-strengthened steel vessel that was retired from service by the Japanese Government in 2010 and recently purchased covertly from the Japanese government for use in Sea Shepherd campaigns. A lot is going on at Sea Shepherd! We have multiple campaigns running right now, and we are gearing up for this year's Cove Guardian Campaign and Antarctic Whale Defense Campaign. In addition, Captain Watson is in an undisclosed location to assure his safety from the corruption from Japan and Costa Rica being facilitated by Germany. We have more on this below, but we want to assure you that, regardless of what you see in other media reports, there are no new warrants out for Captain Watson's arrest as a result of his departure from Germany. He did forfeit his bail and leave Germany, but this is not illegal in that country and German officials are not searching for him.

Attorney for Captain Paul Watson Confirms the Activist has Departed Germany
Sea Shepherd Has Learned Japan May Also Be Seeking To Extradite Watson
“Captain Watson’s attorney reports he has left Germany,” said Susan Hartland, Administrative Director of Sea Shepherd. We have reason to believe from a reliable source that, once in Costa Rica, the Japanese Government may have sought extradition of Captain Watson to Japan to answer charges related to obstructing their illegal whaling activities in the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary. We have no further information and are not in touch with him. We will do our best to provide more details as we learn more. We will post any new information as it arrives and we are able to confirm its validity."
Captain Watson had been detained in Germany for 70 days despite thousands of letters of support sent to the German Ministry of Justice from the public, celebrities, politicians and other luminaries arguing for his release. He was arrested in Frankfurt on May 13th on a 10-year-old warrant from Costa Rica while en route to Cannes, France. He was being detained in Germany for extradition to Costa Rica for an alleged “violation of ships’ traffic,” which occurred during the 2002 filming of the award-winning documentary, “Sharkwater.” The specific incident took place on the high seas in Guatemalan waters, when Sea Shepherd encountered an illegal shark-finning operation run by Costa Rican vessel, the Varadero. On order of Guatemalan authorities, Sea Shepherd instructed the crew of the Varadero to cease their shark-finning activities and head back to port to be prosecuted. While escorting the Varadero back to port, the tables were turned and a Guatemalan gunboat was dispatched to intercept the Sea Shepherd crew. To avoid the Guatemalan gunboat, Sea Shepherd then set sail for Costa Rica, where the crew uncovered even more illegal shark-finning activities in the form of dried shark fins by the thousands on the roofs of industrial buildings.
