Has anyone here spent time in Mexico or Belize chasing fruit? I'm dreaming of Papayas right now, specially wild organic ones (the supermarket belize papaya look too toxified to eat anymore, not to mention $$$$).If anyone has any recommendations of locations in either Mex or Belize let me know. I prefer low key places away from the cities.

I stopped dreaming of papayas when I got to Darwin! They are dropping everywhere!! I can't recommend anywhere in Beliz or Mex tho :-)

Nothing seems more appealing to me right now than the sight of a papaya tree just loaded with all of those papaya. Mother nature provides so much bounty in such an appealing package!
Kev I was inspired by your pain to go and take a picture of the papaya tree in my backyard :-PP Oh im so mean...sorry :-DD

Wow! Look at the size of those suckers! So do you usually wait until they drop before eating or do they ripen enough on the tree that you can just pick and eat?
Aren't they massive?! I don't usually wait till they drop because they don't usually make it possums etc munch them to bits! So when they are pretty full coloured but still firm & if they 'want' to come down( not holding too tightly to the tree still) I pick or if its a particularly tall tree - shake & catch...hopefully.
Hey i put this topic in travel...is that ok? To get some attention over there!!
