Seems like a silly question, but how do I know when my spotty bananas are too ripe? Lately I'm not enjoying them so much, they have an almost alcoholic aftertaste, but they arent squishy or anything, just very spotty...hmmm

Are you putting your nans in the fridge? I only have a problem when they have been fridged (by the store. I eat em too quick to allow them to even sit in that death pit, lol)
As everyone else said, if it doesn't taste right, don't eat it. Don't hide the taste in a green smoothie or anything else. Allow your body to tell you "no", and then listen to it!
p.s, it was a HUUUUUGE box of bananas, I thought there was no way mine would have a chance against my appetite either, but the box beat me this time. perhaps this is because I had so many other fruits in the house. Now I have pretty much nothing! *cries*
Youre right, treeoflife, thanks :) Nah I didn't put them in the fridge, but I guess they were packed in cold storage before I got my hands on them- who knows!
Yeah i love them in smoothies too Cynthia, I actually add a fair bit of water, i like it 'lighter'.
Jess it sounds like those narna's are past their used-by date! If you are getting that fermentation alcohol taste then they're pobably just past.
I can usually tell if i bite into one & i don't enjoy it (like you said Jess) and also if they are translucent sortof looking, obviously mushy, smell a bit a miss and not firmish anymore...
Does that help?

Thanks Freelea, that does help. I should go with my instincts and not try to force the overripe nanas down anymore! Thanks :)
