I think everyone on this site has or at the very least should have the same goal. To minimize harm to animals.
Now at first we may have the emotional response "yeah of course we should!" Yet, is that logical? Will pushing for the banning of meat cause more or less suffering to animals? I will present my argument that by pushing for the banning of meat we may be doing more harm than good.
0. The knee jerk reaction against banning anything.
I've noticed from arguing online that I almost always get the knee jerk reaction when suggesting I ban anything. That people are automatically opposed to making an action or substance illegal.
1. The war on drugs and prohbition
History can be our guide for animal rights. It is well documented that we have lost the war on on drugs and alcohol. What was meant with the best of intentions had the complete opposite effect.
2. Black market
Building upon the war on drugs and alcohol we can see that many violent crimes are perpetrated from black markets. I suggest a black market would treat animals even worse. We can see this with illegal imports of dog meat already in existence.
Alternatively, I suggest we focus on lab grown meat and single issue animal welfare. Ideally, nobody would eat meat. Yet, I do not see this is a reasonable goal. Banning meat would most likely only cause more suffering and harm to animals in my opinion.
Thank you for reading. I look forward to your responses.

You won't be able to get something ban based on an opinion. But if you are passionate enough, maybe you could get into the research field and gather enough evidence to make your case. Evidence that can not be disputed.
I was thinking more of the ethics. Meat goes against the spirit of the US constitution, and against all the ethics we say we believe in.
"ethics" is also the reason muslims force women to wear a burka and the headcloth. You can't push ethics on anyone.
I don't think so. Maybe morals; definitley religion. The women say they CHOOSE to wear burkas.
Most laws are based on ethics.
I plan to push this soon in my videos. For me, it's not emotional. Seems it's the only way to go. We've tried everything else.
the war on on drugs was political BS = fake.
And meat is different. Also, I just thought ... image something called "black market meat". LOL
Are people gonna feed that to their kids? (remember, parents think meat is a good thing). People aren't going to risk jail to buy meat. It's not like drugs.
