So cool! =)

Hi everybody! I just learned something new today about bananas...I don't know if many people already know this, but I myself did not and find it so interesting:
"The easiest way to open a banana is also from the 'bottom'. The bottom is actually the top of the banana though in how it grows, and the stem is actually at the bottom and is harder. Try it next time! This is also how monkeys open bananas because they know it’s easier to open from the 'bottom' (what we perceive as the bottom)."

Did anyone else not know this? Just wanted to share. <3 Take care, Emma

  • If you move really fast, you can also break a banana in half :)

  • Awesome!

  • Bananas are technically berries.

  • My kids and I almost always open the banana that way which is the proper way to open it. Also much easier. I learned that way by watching other animals eat them. :)
  • I love having bananas ripe to the point that the stem opens itself when you pick them up!
  • WOW!  Thanks for sharing.

  • You'd think that after opening approximately 12, 000 bananas over the last 3 years I would've noticed this!!!! HA!

    • Wow, I hadn't thought about the numbers...I've been splitting my meals into smaller 700-calorie & usually do two banana smoothies a day (or one banana smoothie & one banana ice cream a day).  That's 14 bananas a day, times say 3 months, which is over 1,200 bananas!  Yikes!!

  • So i gave this another try with my slighty spotty but still far from being properly ripe bananas and it does work MUCH better. Doesnt matter with a very ripe banana as it just peel of itself but its awesome for banana that arent in their prime. I have been in the habbit of going on youtube and see how apes eat fruits like mango, oranges, watermelon etc... Apes are much better then us at eating fruits, if someone ever tell you that you eat like a monkey, i would take it as a compliment. Its funny how i wasnt able to find a proper video showing a monkey eating a watermelon without hunan's help.
  • You're welcome! How did it go? =)
