So what is your favorite banana brand?

I know they're all the Cavendish variety but they taste quite different. So what is your favorite brand? My personal favorite is definitely the Organics Unlimited/GROW brand, I think they taste way better the the common Dole brand which I now avoid. Also they're cheaper and more locally grow in Mexico, as I live in Los Angeles. You will notice they don't get big spots just more black streaks as they start to ripen up.

  • Haha! Your right, it's the improper  terminology, bananas are not manufactured so they're not "branded". What I should have said was, what label not brand.

  • are those mangoes grown in california ?

    • No this is a old thread, it was February when I posted this, they must be grown in Central or South America. As we only get California Keitt mangos in September or October.

      • didn't even know any mango's could be grown in cali! stoked for those..

        • they are at farmers market on wednesday in santa monica for anyone interested, I will be there swoopin!

          • @Ricard Quetzal I asked a question about the mamey but one additional question is what will be at the farmers market? Keitt mangoes? Man too bad I can't make it to that farmers market on Wednesdays cause I work :-(
  • I just got my first case of organic unlimited and I am waiting for them to ripen can't wait to try them.  Weston OMG are those organic papaya in the background?  I asked the organic wholesaler if they ever get organic papaya in and they informed me that they did not.  Was I misinformed?

    • No the papayas are conventional, you can get them at the market directly behind and attached to Better Life for like $20 per case, not a bad price! I've never seen organic papayas at Better Life.

  • Thank you for your support. We're glad to know you enjoy our bananas!

  • I like Equal Exchange is defiantly my favorite.  When they are really ripe they just melt in your mouth and taste like candy.

Turbana is good too but they always seem to have a hard time getting rid of greenness before they are ripe.  I don't know if that is actually a problem or not.
