Does anyone have any statistics on how much savings we get by eating fruit vs. an omnivorous diet in terms of carbon footprint, water usage, calorie efficiency (yield), ect...?
I can't really find any solid numbers.
Thanks.

These are good but none of these are what I remember finding, I'll keep looking.
Thanks ednshell! I like Andrew's post. He offers just a basic approximation, but it's something, and it talks specifically about fruit, which is cool.

richie just posted what looks like a great source here: http://www.30bananasaday.com/forum/topics/the-flaws-of-straightedge...
Stats on how veganism compares to meat eating are out there, but it's all grain based veganism. What I'm specifically interested in is how fruit/veg eating compares with a SAD diet. Know of any data?
Thanks Rudy!
Good question. Here are data on how much water is used by meat eater vs plant eaters, also some other figures.
Here is also some info on cost of meat.
Here has already been discussed CO2 emission of various foods
Thanks andrius7.
It's weird, some of these numbers in your links don't quite make sense to me. For example, in the first link, it says that "raising animals for food generates more greenhouse gases than all the cars, trucks, trains, ships, and planes in the world combined. ", but then, according to other sources (http://climate.dot.gov/about/transportations-role/overview.html), transportation delivers a much bigger greenhouse gas hit than agriculture. Hmmm.
oh man I've seen some really good info. on here but did not bookmark it. I know Dr. D hired someone to do a study on cooking vs. 811 and cooking produced lots more green house gases. Will look around later to see if I can find one thread in particular that had some great info.
