Why is my profile picture not upright?

Howdy, I applied to 30BaD yesterday and attached a photograph of myself. When I gained access today, I noticed that my photo is rotated 90 degrees. My wife took the photo on her iPhone, but when I open it on my Mac it opens upright. So, why is it not upright on my profile and how do I fix it?

    it was also from my iphone. I put it upside down on my mac thinking it would post rightside up but nope! guess there could be worse problems!
