hello all,

i've decided to write an update bout my HCRV journey. i started eating fruity december 7th 2011 and have been pretty close to 100% since then. i'll say 98% to be exact. the 2% falls into the times when i've licked my fingers after making a pb&j sandwich for the kids i watch, or back in february when i had a few pickles. but i havent sat down and had a cooked food, or any more than a spoonful of quinoa since i've begun. so these little slips may be hindering some of my journey, but it's all part of it. i'm not here to complain about weight gain, or that i don't see many of the results that most people have, i'm just here to document my experience, so that in another 6 months i can look back and see how far i've come. but thank you to all who read this and have any comments, they are all greatly appreciated!

i came from a background of drug/alcohol abuse in my late teens as well as anorexia, which i'm glad to say has left my life/mind for good now, but in my early 20s i still wrestled with restricting. i've been fairly active my whole life and was cooked vegan for 1.5 years before coming to this lifestyle. i'm 5'4" and currently weigh 131lbs. I started this lifestyle off at 118-120lbs and am quite comfortable and feel really wonderful in my body at about 110-115lbs. the first month or so i emotionally felt wonderful, even though my skin got really bad. i tried to become unattached to the physical things that were and are happening to my body because i know in my heart this is the way to live my life. i was also on bc for 6 years an have been off of it for a year, but am not regular yet. the healing process is a slow one, two steps back, one step forward, one back, three forward...but i am practicing my patience and getting really inspired from all of you here on 30bad, so thank you!

the next couple of months i could feel my digestive system getting more regular, it's much better now but could definitely still be better for the amount of food i eat. i've been averaging 2,500 calories and sticking to 90/5/5 even though i eat overts about 4-5 times a week. although this past week has probably been closer to 2,200 calories since i've been so busy with work. it's crazy how some days i feel amazing eating this much and then a few days later am so full all the time. i eat mostly mono-meals until dinner (bananas and dates) and have a big salad with lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, green onions and a mango/date dressing. sometimes i throw in avocado. i think the overly full feeling is my digestive system not being fully regular yet. i drink 4L of water/day and sleep 9-10 hours a night. this past month i've cut down my activity level to only a hike or two a week and a yoga session. i'm just so exhausted all the time and when i do drag myself out for a walk i'm even more drained, so i'm taking the time to sleep and rest. i abused my body quite badly, maybe one day i'll make another post and go into more detail, so i understand that i have a lot of healing to do. my skin was getting better and has now broken out again. i know it's my system getting regular again after bc and lots of detox that my body still needs to do, so as 'dan the man' says, "get excited about being tired and breaking out because you know your body is cleaning house." i see myself being active again and having more of a zest for life, but for now things are slow. i've mentally given myself at least this year before i jump into anything crazy like doing 1/2 marathons again, which i love. i don't want to strain my body and slow down this process even more. but any suggestions would be great.

i am trying to love myself the way i am now, but honestly, and as vain as this may sound, it's tough! but as i've said before, a lot easier with all of you. i've also ditched cleansers and most of my makeup. i still wear mascara and organic blush when i work at the restaurant, but every other day i don't. this is something i've never done before, so i do feel quite vulnerable, but empowered at the same time. i feel like i'm breaking away from these constraints and walls that society has built around us. i do feel so much more free in a way and then not in another. i feel free with my emotional well-being and spiritual well-being, but my body is holding me back from doing the things i love because i just don't have the energy. one day everything will align, and i don't know that for sure, but for now i trust.

again, thank you all for reading this. any and all comments are greatly appreciated. Have a gorgeous fruit filled day!

- Peace, love & fruit!

So how is everyone? I hope we are all going strong and kicking some butt! I am new to the LFRV lifestyle and my goal is that by the end of summer I will be 90-100% LFRV. Seeing its summer it will make it a little easier to transition. so here is my story as short as I could make it. Also don't be shy to share yours :D

I was brought up eating meat and ate a lot of bad carbs through foods such as pasta, breads etc. I LOVED my fruits and veggies growing up and was always picky about my meats. everything had to be chicken or else I wouldn't eat it. I ate somewhat "healthy" most of the time. Fast forward a few years and on my sweet 16 I was tipping more than 200lbs! (I am only 5 foot 5 and have been since I was 11 I am now 23.) About a week or so after my birthday I saw a video on Peta.com called "Meet your Meat." I was devastated to the point where I could not eat anything for about 3 days in fear that I would unknowingly be eating meat. I told my parents that I wanted to become vegan, they told no and said things like "Where are you going to get protein?" and "If we are buying your groceries you will still eat eggs and dairy so you can get enough protein!" So I did, I became a Lacto-Ovo Vegetarian.I lost a lot of weight but still felt horrible and highly emotional. Pretty much I saw myself as a fat slob that no matter what I did I could never lose weight and be healthy. so began the terrible 5 years of binge, starve, binge, purge workout like a mad women! I did lose some weight...along with my hair and my sanity! I would pass out almost every other day and started becoming so secretive that I couldn't trust anyone and felt like everyone was out to get me! NOT something I ever want to go back to EVER! So while I was a Lacto-ovo I was also destroying my body trying to be perfect from a vain person's outlook. I eventually met my boyfriend who for the 1st time made me feel perfect. I was so happy and relaxed that I had no problem stuffing my face with pasta and fast food and apparently gaining close to 20 lb in the 1st 3 months. "it's just love weight" everyone told me. No its not its unhealthy eating and a slow death trap! We began to eat A LOT better and working out 5 days a week. Our only bad food was sushi, I never had Sushi in my life and my boyfriend wanted to share the experience with me. After hemming and hawing I decided to try it at least once before I died. It easily became my favorite dish and is going to be the hardest thing to give up.(By the way while writing this I just woke up and hungry, talking about it is making me hungry! Time for a mango or 2.) so the 1st time having sushi was my 1st time eating meat within 7 years! ( another major factor why I ate it was because I was diagnosed with a genetic clotting disorder called Factor V Laden, my mom was also diagnosed with the same disorder after her stroke at a young 40 years old. So because I was "sick" I thought "will maybe if I eat meat I'll get "stronger" and be able to fight this disorder. warped thinking I know! On that desperate answer I became a Pescatarian and felt TERRIBLE.( on a side note when i ate meat I would get the flu and colds constantly when I stopped eating meat it went away completly! 6 months after eating fish I got the flu a for the 1st time in 7 years, I thought I was going to die and to be honest my fear of how weak and sick i was made me wake up and start eating better for health and being aware of how poorly I was treating my body.) About a year later being a eater of fish (haha), me and my boyfriend are now both about 1 to 2 months into being Vegans. (me a littler easier than him seeing I was already a Vegetarian He has never given up meat and is still having some difficulties.) But anyway we are slowly working our way into a Raw Vegan lifestyle and I would love to find more people on this site who can help support me as much as I want to support them on this wonderful journey.

Thank you for reading my story. Hope to hear back from you all soon best of luck!

Peace and Love

Amanda Lee

(hopefully my attachment work the chick on the left is me on my sweet 16 the hottie next to me is my Older sister <3)

fat.jpg

Smoothies make me really bloated. Any ideas? my skin has dried out on my face and it is red and blotchy. I also drink about 2 liters of water a day.

I allowed myself to eat a traditional Christmas meal but since then I have been following the 811 diet and instead if losing weight like so many other people I have actually gained weight. Has this happened to anyone else? If so, how long did it take to start losing the weight? Right now I can barely fit into my suits. Also I have a half marathon next month and the weight is slowing me down. I did buy Freelea e book and I know she mentioned weight gain but did not mention how long it takes to start losing weight. I am on week three now and would appreciate any comments.
