It's time for closet veggies to step into the light and march boldly and fearlessly! The Veggie Pride Parade is coming to town!

It's this Saturday, June 2nd.

Also my little girl's 4th birthday! = )

I'm going to try to make it out. Ana's always eager to meet other vegans since it's hard for her sometimes to be the only one in a gang not partaking of what everyone else is having. However she loves being a vegan and she's always thrilled to meet other vegans. I think this is an important way of showing her our lifestyle in celebration! Not to mention, how cool to get a whole parade on her birthday!

Details here: http://chicago.veggiepride.com/about.htm

See you all there, maybe? = )

Tania

Will be 80-10-10 friendly - just bring the ingredients you like!

Madison, WI is ~2.5 hours North of Chicago, and 1.2 hours west of Milwaukee.

“Blenderpalooza” Raw Juicefeast at Sofia Coop on Saturday, January 14

Everyone!

Bradley Fish, Sarah, Kiril, and the residents of Sofia Coop will be hosting a blending & juicing potluck at the Sofia Coop on Spaight Street on Saturday, January 14, starting at 5 PM. They will have Vitamix and Blend-tec high-speed blenders on hand to make smoothies (or soups, puddings, juices, or just about anything else you can dream up that can be made in a blender). All you need to bring is enough ingredients to make multiple servings to share.

(As is our practice - so as to protect their privacy - the exact address, contact information, and driving directions will be posted on this group's bulletin board in the 48 hours prior to the potluck and all members will receive an email with a link to this information at that time.)

While this isn’t exactly like the rest of our regular potlucks, here are the usual potluck guidelines anyway:

For each person attending bring one dish with at least eight servings to share, along with the appropriate serving utensils. One can reasonably expect this to cost somewhere around $15.00.

Please bring all of your own silverware, dishes, and cups that you will be using.

Please use organic ingredients whenever possible to prepare your dish, for increased nutrition, elimination of pesticides and genetically modified foods, and most importantly for your body and for the planet!

If dehydrating or warming your food, please do so at or below 105 degrees to ensure that the enzymes of the food remain intact and active.

Bring a copy of your recipe to place by your dish, so that others can copy it if they like what they tasted, and also so they can be able to make informed choices, should they not want to eat certain ingredients due to sensitivities or other personal reasons (such as nuts or Bragg's Liquid, for example). We will then post a message on the Madison Raw Food Meetup website where everyone can respond to and add their recipes for each particular potluck to share them with others.

At the end of our potlucks we often exchange our leftovers. Bring some extra containers if you want to join in on the fun.

We very much want to welcome our new members and those curious about the raw and living foods lifestyle. We encourage you to bring something very simple - some fresh, organic seasonal fruit, some cut up organic veggies, or some raw trail mix you can put together, for example. (If you need more ideas, contact David by using the “contact us” link on the left side of web page.) More information for newcomers to our group can be found here:http://www.meetup.com/The-Madison-Raw-Food-...
Voluntary donations towards the costs of using our Meetup web presence ($144 annually) are greatly appreciated. It was suggested by our members that we should consider donating a dollar or two every potluck, which would quickly help us meet our costs.

Hope you can join us!

http://www.meetup.com/The-Madison-Raw-Food-Meetup-Group/events/46013702/?a=ea1_lnm&rv=ea1

Well Team,

I have some exciting news that I didn't think I would be able to share so soon. Firstly, the Buyer's Club Is taking off quite well and alot of interest has been generated. The only hang up has been people unwilling to order bulk of that size. To help alleviate this concern, I will be starting a CSA of sorts with the fruit orders. Bulk order will of course keep going on. Yet, now we will offer a smaller sampling of the seasonal fruits as they cycle through for a flat rate. I still have to work this plan out, but this will certainly help people get more fruit in their diet.

Secondly, (it's still a little unreal to me) I have secured the funds to open a raw food cafe in Milwaukee. This will be the first in the area. it will also function as the pick up spot for the growing Frugivore Buyer's Club. Assome of you may know, I have a full plate. A new baby boy, working towards Hygienic Doctorate, two jobs, and now the raw cafe. I would like to do it all, but realistically I will need help. That's where you guys come in. I would love to make this our breeding ground so to speak, our hangout. So any suggestions or ideas, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, share them. At some point in near future, there may be job openings that I would like to fill with some raw vegans.

I hope peace and happiness are with you all,

Kevin
