There is plenty of parking and we will be meeting at the pavilion near the public bathrooms. There is paddle board, canoe rentals and bike rentals. There's also a running path, a water park for kids, a playground and a beach for swimming. This is where a lot of the Clermont Triathalons, Marathons and races start and finish. Bring some fruit to share, exotic, local, blended or anything that sounds yummy. This is our first fruit lover's meetup and I could use some help getting the word out. Please feel free to post this meetup on your page or invite your friends, everyone is welcome. There's plenty of room for outdoor games so bring your toys and let's play:)

Hi All,

Our coop is growing steadily because we have the best prices. We have 11 households partaking and we've only been going for one month. You get the produce at cost and no one makes a profit except Global Organics--the distributer. I don't work for them or anything. I just want affordable, fresh, organic produce and there was nothing like that around here so we started this coop. There's no membership charge or anything. You don't even have to pre-order. Just come by my house when it's delivered and choose from our boxes. Or you can make a special order beforehand. I'm in northwest Palm Bay.

I created a price list that compares our prices to the health food store. It's about half price and costs about as much as or even cheaper than conventional produce at Publix. Global Organics is the same distributer that our local health food store uses (Paradise Health Foods).

I attached the comparative price list. If you want more info. including all the stuff Global Organics sent me e-mail me at jjgalpin1@gmail.com.

Here's what we're ordering next week. It will be delivered to my house on Tuesday or Thursday:

case: breaburn apples--125 count at $60.50

case: ruby grapefuit (FL) 32 count at $46

case: navel orange choice (FL)--38 pounds at $38

case: young thai coconuts--9 count at $21

case: sweet potato (NC)--40 pounds at $36

case: lemons choice (CA) juicing--140 count at $57

case: celery juice (FL)--35 pounds at $40.50

case: beet--10 pounds at $30

case: green kale--24 count (about 1 pound each, full leaf bunches) at $49

half case: romaine lettuce (LM)--12 count at $23

compare prices list.doc

current price list.pdf

Hi All, So far we have three people buying wholesale from Global Organics. We're looking for more members to make the deliveries more frequent so our food is fresher. It's from the same supplier that our local health food stores use. If you want to be a part of it, shoot me and e-mail (jjgalpin1@gmail.com) and I'll send you the welcome letter, price list, etc that Global Organics sent me.

Some examples of prices are: $22 for 40 pounds of ripe bananas (so about .50 pound versus .99 a pound at the store). $5 for 3 pounds of apples versus $7 at the store. $1.40 for each pink grapefruit versus $1.90 at the store. Half price on oranges (.41 versus .99 at the store). 1.70 for lettuce of all kinds versus $3 at the store. .50 pound for lemons versus 2.50 pound at the stores! They also have nuts, seeds, grains, Lakewood juice and more at the cheapest price you'll find anywhere.

The food gets delivered to my house in Palm Bay but I can drive your order closer to where you live since there's not many people involved and I'll do whatever it takes to get the freshest, best, cheapest produce possible.

Good day everybody

It is my 2nd day here in Florida. Settled in Pinellas County specifically St. Petersburg for the time being. Was supposed to wwoof in Sorrento, small town 30 minutes north of Orlando, but on my trip down the farm has run into some trouble and said they couldn't house me for the time being. SO I am now staying with a good friends family in this absolutely beautiful area in St. Pete. I traveled to one of the only local organic food markets (Rollin' Oats) yesterday evening and discovered that it is just like the one back home in New York. The organic movement here in Florida definitely isn't as big as it is in other states. Supermarkets left and right that carry not one piece of organic produce, oh well. However, the organic produce is of the highest price I have ever seen and quite frankly I shouldn't be surprised as organic produce is somewhat scarce down here. They charge $1.09/lb for bananas! I am here doing volunteer work in return for a place to sleep so buying bananas at that price will bankrupt me in a short matter of time. There is a huge farmers market that I am looking forward to venturing to this weekend and supposedly there is a local growers market somewhere near by. Anyway, the point of this post is to see if anyone has any advice where to shop here in St. Pete while I am here? Also, I attended a peace meditation last night at Sacred Land and it was amazing. Great like minded people but they were all at least twice my age. Anyone know of a good yoga studio or place to do group meditation? Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated. There is a star fruit tree in the backyard of where I am staying, along with banana trees, plantain trees, avocado tree, orange, lemon, mango, aloe vera, PAPAYA, and more. Planting leafy greens this afternoon to get the 'winter' greens back on schedule. Enjoy the wonderful beautiful day and don't forget to consume water. Peace and love.

-Kyle Christian

Hello. I am about to embark on a trip through Central America for the next 9 months - one year. Afterwards I will need to decide where I want to live next. I grew up in Southern California, and have lived in Austin, Texas for the last 5 years. Living in Texas, I have really grown accustomed to an inexpensive lifestyle, and love the freedom of living cheap, spending most earnings on food, rent, and savings. I would like to continue this lifestyle in some place new. The resounding theme in my head sings "Tropics, tropics, tropics." In the states, besides the virgin islands, it seems there is either Hawaii or Florida. My guess is that Hawaii might be more difficult to live inexpensively than Florida.

Of course, job availability, and the likeliness to make friends with similar mindsets are probably the most important. My work experience is as a tour guide on Segways for the last 4 years, and although I do not want a full-time position in this sort of work again, I recognize it as good way to make money whilst doing other part-time gigs. I'd even be a ghost tour guide! The purpose of my trip is to gain Spanish language skills in hopes of one day becoming a freelance translator, as well as gaining a Yoga teacher certificate in hopes of working part-time in this arena upon my return. I also feel as though I am a good teacher, and would love to be a part-time math tutor for kids struggling in school.

Although I know absolutely no one in Florida, I tend to make friends quite easily. Is the fruit more plentiful, and less expensive than elsewhere in the states? What kind of cheap rents can be found? Do there happen to be any fruitarian communities anywhere already?

Thanks for reading; any input would be helpful to me. Thanks everyone!

They're all organic.

I'm not sure what the asking price will be for them yet, I want to make sure I have people interested in them first, so this is more to get the idea out there.

I live in Lakeland, which is about 45 minutes from the Tampa area and the Orlando area.
