Does anyone have any suggestions on buying large quantities of fruit in Auckland when you don't have a car? I have been looking at delivery options and there are awesome companies that do fruit boxes and fruit vege mix boxes but would any that you know of do boxes of just bananas for example? I am in Grey Lynn.

A few years ago we did a box delivered thing. It seemed good value and we didn't have to drive to the fruit shop etc but actally - it wasn't such good value. We live in Henderson and there are cheap (though grotty Asian) fruit and vege shops here.
I guess give each one a go (don't get suckered into a long contract) and compare for quality and price.

The best place for bananas that I have seen is Avondale Markets @$2-2.50 per kg for all good, but otherwise I would say check Pak N Save, fruit stores near you. You might want to get some sort of cart to carry the box if you can't find any decently priced online.
I just looked up the Grey Lynn farmers market which emphasizes local and seasonal so I don't think you'll have any luck there with bananas.
I once got "overripe" bananas from naturally organic for $2 per kg but that only seems available every couple of months.
So these places are your best bet online:

I wish there were more that cater to 30 bananas a day type prices and quantity but that's the best we have as far as delivery. I suggest getting to know people with lots of fruit trees on their properties :D
