Deodorant

I use a natural deodorant on days that I work but not otherwise.

Are you deodorant free or what do you use?

  • I have been using the crystal spray and even got my husband to use it. Going to have to rethink that and do some research on the aluminum in it. Sucks, too, because every time I use it or my husband does, I think, "Well, there's one thing i don't have to worry about!" I think i could go deodorant free but not so much my meat eating hubby. I would like to find out if the crystal spray is still the lesser of two evils when it comes to aluminum.
  • A majority of the time, I don't use anything. But during the summer and if I get out of a hot shower and I feel a little sweaty, I put some non-aluminum baking soda on with a powder puff.

  • i dont use any! and im doing fine:) but sometimes i wash under my arms if i need to

  • apple cider vinegar spritzed on my underarms works nicely. my boyfriend introduced me to it about a year and a half ago, we went for our first hike together and the wind gusted his scent into my face as i hiked behind him and my mind thought "he smells like sweet ginger!"
sweet ginger like the kind you would see at a sushi bar, which is always "pickled" in a vinegar...

it neutralizes any odors and it feels fresh and clean and i LOVE the smell of it.

    • Never thought to use ACV. I might give this a try. Thanks for the tip!

  • I am deodorant free and love it! When I eat cleanly I find that body odor is much less, so therefore, I don't see the point in deodorant. The odor that I may have is usually only detectable by me. I have three main strategies to deal with potential odor. First is, rubbing the underarm area with a baking soda paste during a shower. I give it a good scrub a few times. I do this wash almost daily. This seems to neutralize and eliminate odor. Secondly, I tell my friends and family to please tell me if they detect any odor. I have chosen to not get offended if this is the case. It's not a big deal if one doesn't make it a big deal in their head. Thirdly, I like to freshen up in the bathroom if I feel so inclined throughout the day by using a wash rag with water and just wiping the underarm region. If I notice an odor, I could also use the baking soda scrub.
    • Baking Soda scrub?  I've never done that before, but I hate deodorant and want to get off it so bad.  I am defiantly a stinkier kinda girl... but natural methods are always better!  I will try this!  Great idea!  Thanks! :)

  • This is what I use: http://www.naturallyfreshdeodorantcrystal.com/

It's abailable in Whole Foods, it's really inexpensive, only 3-4 bucks and it last very long. Completely parfume free and there is no body odor even after the most intense work out or hottest day in town. It's the best natural deodorant I've ever used!

    • I use this also, or a little patchouli oil.  Both work if I'm eating well.  If I have something crappy I'll smell with the patchouli, but the crystal is bomb-proof!

    • Stop using crystal deodorant! I used it too and yes it works but it's just because of the poisonous aluminum like all other deodorants.
