This is long.. sorry..
I suspect I have Hashimoto's Hypothyroidism, but have not been tested for it.
I have severe fatigue, that's gotten better (much better) going all raw. However, I still experience fatigue and feel tons and tons better when I take this supplement: http://www.amazon.com/NOW-Foods-Thyroid-Energy-Vcaps/dp/B0013OZCGE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1335813861&sr=8-1
I am not taking it currently, and do find my strength and energy to be lower. And I'm struggling to take care of my two young kids.
When I've taken this supplement, I feel 'right as rain', but I want to heal my body and I don't know if I should go w/out it, in attempts to let my thyroid and body heal itself.
The ingredients are as follows: Vit. b 6: 2 mg, Folate: 400 mcg, Vit. b-12: 60 mcg, Iodine: 225 mcg, Zinc: 25 mg, Selenium: 50 mcg, Copper: 1 mg, L-Tyrosine - free-form: 1 g, Irish Moss: 200 mg, Guggul (resinous sap): 75 mg, Organic Kelp: 60 mg, Ashwagandha root: 50 mg, trace mineral concentrate: 5 mg, cellulose, magnesium stearate (veg source), cellulose and silica.
This brand is good w/ being gluten free and casein (dairy) free - I only trust this brand for any supps.
I am also heavy metal toxic and have heard what I'm toxic w/ (bromide) displaces the iodine in the thyroid. Also, I've had two children within the past 4 yrs. (depleting iodine further) I read iodine helps displace toxic bromide and flouride. I've only heard of two foods containing iodine: eggs and seaweed.
I don't believe this supp contains a stimulant (i've researched the ashwagandha) and I don't think it's a bad thing (?). And it doesn't feel at all like a stimulant, but ??
Obviously, I don't want to be on it forever and keep stopping taking it because I just want to be healed already, but does my thyroid need added iodine, as I don't think this is found in.. Well, look what I just found: http://sarah-tomley.suite101.com/safe-sources-of-iodine-for-people-with-hashimoto-a187255
Now, I feel dumb. Still, should I take these supps? My poor body has taken a beating! :/
Thanks for any thoughts!

Hi there Morgan
I saw your post which I know is a long time ago now but I'm just wondering how you are getting on?
I also have Hashimotos and have had severe chronic fatigue for over 15 years.
re: iodine
this is a controversial topic with some sayign "yes" and others saying "no, it can make you worse and clog your thyroid"???? - I honestly don;t know.
I take 100 ug thyroxine per day but after being on only bananas, oranges and dates for just 3 days I already have noticed a big improvement.
would be great to hear from you
karen :)
Hang in there girl. I know exactly what it feels like to wake up tired...and count down the hours before you get to go back to sleep. Never feeling like sleep satsfies at all. I was diagnosed with Graves Diseases with hyperthyroidism which they said burnt out my thyroid making it hypothyroid. At that time i couldnt walk 10 feet without puddling sweat. They gave me methimazole which did helped considerably...at that time i didnt know 80/10/10 and i was a reckless vegetarian, eating anything that wasnt meat no disgression. SO, i am now on the path of recovery my labs are getting better and better and i would love to help in any way i can. I would always says herbal supplments over pharm. And are you 80/10/10?
