I was gonna use almond milk to thicken it but then I had a genious idea. rather then veggie broth I just used water. I put in potatos onions garlic mushrooms corn pepper and some carrots and celary. Then I put just a table spoon of corn starch but I used maseca corn flower to thicken it the rest of the way this gave it a really nice southwestern style flavor its really nice. If I couldn’t find corn flour I’d use corn meal but that might be too gritty. No fat high carb totally vegan!!

its really tasty and filling and its really thick and hte thickness isnt creamy fat! but starchy from the corn flour. has an over all corn taste to it really tasty.

In the last couple hours, I have realized why Raw Till 4 is so important!

So I notice I get 'hangry' quite regularly... without even feeling an emptiness in my stomach. I lose focus, ignoring what's going on around me, including conversations people are having WITH me, I lose patience, I probably have a grumpy face, too.

Instead of Raw Till 4, today I had a Raw-Till-1:30pm day... which rarely happens, but I didn't plan my day properly, had a meeting at a local coffee shop, and settled for their absolutely delicious vegan steel cut oats.

My stomach was still feeling good when I was on my way to work at 3:30, but I knew had to stop and grab food for dinner (very poorly planned day).

By the time I got to work, I must have still been digesting the oats...

I am normally an extremely kind, welcoming, friendly person - but the first customer I had was a mom trying to get her daughter a job, and on reflection, I was really short & impatient with them.

Situation aside, I realized that this part of me is practically unknown, and I can only attribute it to the fact that complex carbohydrates are, well, complex. They are harder for our bodies to break down, therefore taking more time for us to retrieve the precious energy contained within.

My revelation - I always wondered why 4... why is this rule so solid that it creates the title of the lifestyle we follow - why? If we are still including cooked foods in our diet, it is essential that we save them until later in the day when we generally start to wind down, we require less energy, and we probably spend the better part of digestion & assimilation while we are asleep.

People have started asking me about my 'drastic' diet - I often recommend them to start with fruit for breakfast, and now it will come with a disclaimer. The difference between fruit for breakfast, and fruit for breakfast AND lunch is so vast that it can literally change your life - it sure changed mine.

It now makes me curious what all raw long-term would do...

For a while, I gave up this aspiration... but now I'm starting to reconsider.

I have been thriving on this lifestyle, however, I recently read some articles stating how rice in general can cause type 2 diabetes. I have noticed a little bit of puffiness which I am assuming is from the rice because I have eliminated all sodium.

Should I be concerned about weight gain or developing diabetes? Should I give up rice all together and find another type of starch like potatoes for my dinner?

I would love advice because when it comes to cooked foods I am so confused!

The only thing i am finding at the moment is that i am feeling very tired or lethargic after i eat my evening cooked meal. I try to make them big to get the carbs in as Freelee recommends but it seems when i have a bigger meal i just zonk out and want to go straight to bed. It doesnt matter if its white rice, white potatoes, sweet potatoes or gluten free corn pasta, i still feel the same which i think is weird as ive been on this lifestyle for a while now?I make sure that i drink plenty of water before and after ive eaten the meal but it doesnt seem to help.Just wondered if anyone had experienced this and then it went away or if anyone had found reasons why? It seems when i eat a smaller cooked meal i can still do something in the evening after i eat! Haha At the moment im just vegging out reading (then fall asleep with the book on my face! Haha ) The weathers so lovely here at the moment i want to go outside and do a walk or something but i feel like i have no energy because its all being used up digesting my foodbaby! HahaThanks everyone, really appreciate your advice :)

I've read lots of people who have gained weight and that Harley and Freelee choose cooked food to help them stay at a healthy weight but, we are gaining quite a bit.

When I started I weighed 70kg and was 13% body fat. I am now 76Kg with 16% body fat! I've gone from feeling happy and lean to depressed and podgy! My clothes are now starting to feel tight, I've got Moobs and noticable buda belly. My girlfriend is the same. We are both trying hard to stay positive and focused enough to stay true the RT4 principles but it is becomming really hard as we continue to gain weight as slow down in our activities as we get heavier.

My question is, Can anyone testify that they have gained weight and eventually lost it by following the RT4 ? Freelee was Raw before and overweight. We were at a happy weight but have now gained! I'm just looking for motivation that this is the right path. We're going to the RT4 festival in Thailand so I guess we can ask people then but right now I'm getting desperate.

In case you ask, we are both active, cycling 15 miles to work and 15 back, run on days off etc and follow the rules to the letter.

So I live in Chile, South America and it has been hard getting the amount of fruit I need to stay fully raw every day due to a financial budget and 2 other family members who are not vegan and purchase processed foods with this budget. So with that being said I have my back up of rice (because I tend to break out and have digestive issues with potatoes) probably every other day depending on how much fruit is left for the 3 of us.My family has agreed to use the majority of the budget for produce (thank God) but it's still not enough for me to fully thrive on just raw 24/7. My question is does this have an effect on my body's ability to motabolize properly because I am not routinely eating fully raw dinners after 4? Am I putting my body through an unnecessary rollercoaster?

Hi guys,

This is my first post on 30 bananas a day. I just feel at loss at what to do. I began eating vegan in February and slowly converted to 80/10/10 cooked vegan. I eliminated coffee, soda, salt, processed foods, and try to eat mostly pure simple foods.

However, I've found that I have almost reached my heaviest weight when I am eating the healthiest of my life. I even cut out drinking alcohol for one month and ran 3 times a week with no results.

I'm coming to you because I'm so confused. There is no doubt in my mind that this is the healthiest lifestyle, but I can never feel happy because I don't feel myself in my body. I don't want to restrict my calories because that is what led me to this lifestyle in the first place!

Here are my ideas for what I will do and please let me know which you think is best or what has worked for you:

Current plan I'm starting:

- Eliminate all non-homemade from scratch sauces and condiments.

- Eliminate totally all non-fresh foods/GMOs/Processed crackers, chips, granola, cereal

- Eliminate salt

- Eat smaller portions, don't eat until stuffed/full (for cooked foods only)

- Eat only pure natural foods- steamed or roasted (no oil)

- Eat raw bfast and dinner with cooked lunch (I find that I am less hungry this way)

- No overt fats - (avocados/guac/hummus/chickpeas)

- Less white rice, less white potatoes. More cooked veggies and minimal sweet potatos & brown rice.

- No bread, pitas, pasta, etc.

- 1 alcoholic drink max when in social situations

- Always eat raw when possible

- Exercise 3x a week and train hard

- Stretch/yoga everyday

- Water!!!

No these are all things that I've been kinda doing all these 3 months, the only difference really will me sticking to it 100% and eating less calories.

Please let me know your thoughts and your experience with weight gain/loss!
