But by then the Pythagorean ban on eating meat had been reinforced by a philosophical tradition going back to Theophrastus and Xenocrates, the heads of Lyceum and Academy respectively in the late fourth century B.C. Theophrastus' work On Piety (much of which has been preserved in Porphyry's On Abstinence) presented a systematic argument against animal sacrifice, with an interesting theory on the prehistory of divine worship. Theophrastus cited Empedocles on the Golden Age (when Aphrodite ruled instead of Zeus, and "the altar was not drenched with the unspeakable slaughter of bulls"), and he claimed that the original offerings to the gods were made exclusively from the fruits of the earth. Theophrastus emphasizes the anatomical and psyholocial features that we share with the animals, above all, sense perception and feeling. He thus offers, for the first time, a philosophical basis for the notion of a moral community between us and the animals. On this view, we have the right to kill dangerous animals, but only in the same way that we have a right to protect ourselves against criminal human beings. Xenocrates, on the other hand, was concerned not only to protect animals but also to preserve the human being from contamination: animal food will assimilate the eater to the souls of irrational beasts. In Xenocrates we recognize a forerunner of the NeoPythagorean asceticism. Xenocrates; successor Polemon defended a similar view, and abstinence from meat became characteristic of the Platonic school. The writing of Xenocrates and Polemon are lost, but the Platonist case for vegetarianism, on a wide variety of grounds, is abundantly preserved in the writings of Plutarch, notably 'On the Eating of Flesh, Whether Aquatic Animals are more Intelligent than Land Animals', and 'On the Use of Reason by Brutes' http://books.google.com.au/books?id=5vi10r5k5eEC&pg=PA149&lpg=PA149&dq=pythagoras+banned+animal+sacrifice&source=bl&ots=0Lc1ia16G6&sig=g5KztIOdp5JJR7iEl4hEid6NJWw&hl=en&sa=X&ei=8TGdU8aIM8WlkQXykoHQBQ&ved=0CB8Q6AEwAA#v=onepage&q=pythagoras%20banned%20animal%20sacrifice&f=false

Diodorus Siculus reported that the Druids were “philosophers and theologians,” “skilled in the divine nature,” and able to communicate with the gods. Julius Caesar wrote that they had philosophical and religious beliefs pertaining to the “powers and spheres of action of the immortal gods”; that they had “much knowledge of the stars and their motion, of the size of the world and of the earth, of natural philosophy.” Strabo and Cicero said the Druids had the knowledge of nature which the Greeks called physiologia. Other ancient writers linked the Druids with the Pythagoreans. Diodorus, Ammianus and Valerius Maximus associated the Druidic belief in immortality with the theory of metempsychosis, making Druids “members of the intimate fellowship of the Pythagorean faith.” Some went further and derived the Pythagorean school of philosophy from the Druids. Iamblichus, for example, maintained that Pythagoras was acquainted with the Celtic mysteries, a statement confirmed by Clement of Alexandria, who in about AD 200 wrote that philosophy had been studied by the Druids before the Greeks. http://www.theosophical.org.uk/.../celts-and-druids-who.../

Alternatives: carrots, other vegetables, synthetics.

Vitamin B-Complex Factor.
(See Panthenol.)

Vitamin B Factor.
(See Biotin.)

Vitamin B-12.
Usually animal source. Some vegetarian B-12 vitamins are in a stomach base. Alternatives: some vegetarian B-12-fortified yeasts and analogs available. Plant algae discovered containing B-12, now in supplement form (spirulina). Some nutritionist caution that fortified foods or supplements are essential.

Vitamin D. Ergocalciferol. Vitamin D-2. Ergosterol. Provitamin D-2. Calciferol. Vitamin D-3.
Vitamin D can come from fish liver oil, milk, egg yolk, etc. Vitamin D-2 can come from animal fats or plant sterols. Vitamin D-3 is always from an animal source. All the D vitamins can be in creams, lotions, other cosmetics, vitamin tablets, etc. Alternatives: plant and mineral sources, synthetics, completely vegetarian vitamins, exposure of skin to sunshine. Many other vitamins can come from animal sources. Examples: choline, biotin, inositol, riboflavin, etc. Best source is sunlight.

Vitamin H.
(See Biotin.)

Wax.
Glossy, hard substance that is soft when hot. From animals and plants. In lipsticks, depilatories, hair straighteners. Alternatives: vegetable waxes.

Whey.
A serum from milk. Usually in cakes, cookies, candies, and breads. In cheese-making. Alternatives: soybean whey.

Wool.
From sheep. Used in clothing. Ram lambs and old "wool" sheep are slaughtered for their meat. Sheep are transported without food or water, in extreme heat and cold. Legs are broken, eyes injured, etc. Sheep are bred to be unnaturally woolly, also unnaturally wrinkly, which causes them to get insect infestations around the tail areas. The farmer's solution to this is the painful cutting away of the flesh around the tail (called "mulesing"). "Inferior" sheep are killed. When shearing the sheep, they are pinned down violently and sheared roughly. Their skin is cut up. Every year, hundreds of thousands of shorn sheep die from exposure to cold. Natural predators of sheep (wolves, coyotes, eagles, etc.) are poisoned, trapped, and shot. In the U.S., overgrazing of cattle and sheep is turning more than 150 million acres of land to desert. "Natural" wool production uses enormous amounts of resources and energy (to breed, raise, feed, shear, transport, slaughter, etc., the sheep). Derivatives: Lanolin, Wool Wax, Wool Fat. Alternatives: cotton, cotton flannel, synthetic fibers, ramie, etc.

Wool Fat.
(See Lanolin.)

Wool Wax.
(See Lanolin.)

Hey VW and others,

This image posted by VW got me thinking about something....

I guess I am still learning, so forgive me if I ask things that are already well known in this community.

But here is the question: I have observed several things...especially in the few years I have spent @30BaD. We have a few members who almost go an anarchist path. They tend to have cold personalities and almost narcissistic or egotist. They care only about themselves. These types tend, in the name of going green and saving the planet, to leave the world behind, and go live in the forest, and many of them would prefer not to wear clothing and become almost animal like. I am not saying they are completely wrong, and they may have their place in saving the planet too.

But that does not necessarily satisfy my own personality.

But...what i have noticed is that people who tend to be more in tune with a spiritual life, actually tend to wear more clothing. In psychology, it is taught that in almost all cultures and religions, there are several arch types that are recognized everywhere, and that is the witch and the wizard. And yet, when we think of them, they are fully clothed, robed, and their head is covered with some kind of hat.

The same seems to be true in world religions too. In xtianity, nuns cover themselves, and monks might wear robes. Kings and queens of old were robed. Muslims from around the world that have not chosen the modern path are fully clothed including men wearing a thobe and turban, and women again might be robed and veiled. And there is a mysterious beauty in this too. If I see a picture of a woman in a nikab with only her eyes showing, I want to stare more, and yet, if I see half naked people on the beach, I feel almost shy or repulsed.

Personally, I like to wear long skits and modest shirts, and obviously, I have kind of a shyness about myself and hide behind the mask of my cat. I am not shy when it comes to socializing or getting things done as some of you might have observed here at BaD though.

So, I ask you people, what are your observations, thoughts, and experiences, even opinions on the modest dress and or arch type images that pervade in the witch community?

Peace, PK

I am, of course, referring to the late 1600’s.

Lucifer was easier to spot back in those days even though the people were simple-minded - even more simple-minded than the current American public when it comes to justifications for war. Satan’s minions were easy to locate. They looked, acted and spoke differently than anyone else.

Their slimy, pickle-colored, wart-ridden skin, enormous noses and jutting chins, web-like, matted hair and sickly demeanor led folks to know instantly what they were -- witches! Front porch cauldrons of bubbling fluid containing the most disgusting insects and rodents imaginable made the home of a witch easy to locate.

And the incessant rhyming of incantations made the voice of a witch easy to identify, particularly since there were no rap singers back then. A True Christian™ could spot a witch a mile away. An even better Christian could strike one with a flaming arrow from the same distance. All it took was a few wooden stakes, some rope and a torch, and the devil was defeated for yet another day.

Things aren’t so simple any more. Witches have learned a lot since the days of the Puritans. They’ve learned that if they show their hideous faces in public, it won’t just be their warts we burn off. So, they’ve had to go undercover in their efforts to recruit the weak-willed to the service of their master in Hell.

To induce these naïve innocents to join their filthy cult, they have been forced to come up with a politically correct justification for their association. They have had to conceal the real purpose of their late-night meetings, when they cast spells on the vulnerable, brew hideous potions, and sacrifice infants to the devil.

They have had to come up with a modern message that will be attractive to the weak-kneed while not raising the ire of True Christians™ that much. That message is called “vegetarianism.” Today’s witches are called “vegans.”

One needn’t look any further than Christ’s words to see that so-called “vegans” are nothing more than sorcerers and demons, mocking God while spitting on His Son’s final supper. They know God loves meat and has ordered us to eat as much of it as we can. So they poke fun at the Lord with slogans like “Meat is murder” and by insisting their members abstain from consuming anything that comes from an animal. Jesus warned us about these diabolical cretins.

Turn your Bibles to First Timothy, chapter 4, verses 1 through 3 and recite along with me:

Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

I don’t know how Jesus could have warned us any more directly about these devils. They try to hide behind phrases like “animal lover” and “animal rights advocate.” That is devil-speak if I ever heard it! The Bible makes clear that God created animals for one purpose only - our nutritional and intestinal satisfaction. Just as God created woman solely to be the servant of man, meaning women are to obey their husbands at all times, keep their mouths shut in church and never teach (1 Timothy 2:11-15; Ephesians 5:22-24), so, too, God created animals so we would have something to fill our stomachs with after a hard day’s work.

God told us long before He used Mary to incubate His son: “Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you” (Genesis 9:3). Every moving thing - not just the ugly ones, not just the dumb ones, like chickens and fish. Every living thing. The most beautiful fawn, the most prized heifer, the most graceful swan, the cutest bunny rabbit. According to God, they’re all nothing more than sausage fodder!

When the apostle, Peter, woke up hungry, what did God give him to eat? Not a pansy platter of carrot sticks, lettuce leaves and orange slices. He gave him every type of four-footed beast on the earth and every fowl of the air, telling him, “Rise, Peter, kill, and eat” (Acts 10:9-13).

When Cain and Abel offered gifts to the Lord, Abel gave the Lord the fat he cut off the hides of his flock whereas Cain gave the Lord a fruit and vegetable tray. The Lord loved Abel’s offering of something that would stick to His holy ribs and despised Cain’s lesser offering of mere produce.

Cain became jealous and murdered the brother with the superior gift-giving eye (Genesis 4:3-8). This was the first, but my no means the last, human murder committed by these vegans a/k/a witches a/k/a wiccans.

But add another a/k/a to that list - homos. You see, veganism offers a place of solace for sodomites every bit as attractive as a Catholic confessional. Fruits and vegetables are what housewives and sissies on Weight Watchers eat, whereas meat, cheese and butter are what real men eat. If every meal you eat doesn’t contain something that lives in, or comes out of something that lives in, a barn, you aren’t a real man.

Jesus warned us that the men who would one day call themselves “vegans” are nothing more than nancy-boys looking for refuge somewhere. “For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs” (Romans 14:2). Just take a look at these losers - thin as a rail, pale as a ghost. The kind of men we used to beat up every day at school. If you asked any one of them, he would probably admit he supports feminism. The only protein these marys consume was created for a completely different purpose, the misuse of which is precisely what got Onan struck dead by God.

Watch out for these witches and fairies, my friends, for in today’s world of ailing morality, they are everywhere. They protest outside leather shops. They ruin other people’s valuable winter coats by hurling buckets of blood on unsuspecting ladies. And they try to destroy the cattle industry with their left-wing talk shows. picked them, straight off the tree, bush or forest floor.

it took extensive knowledge & experience to know which wild botanicals would give life and which ones would take it away - this knowledge paleo animal consumbers didnt have.

<img src="{{#staticFileLink}}8191635878,original{{/staticFileLink}}" low in protein because she ate (just like her woodland familiars) fruits, berries, leafy greens, tubers, herbs, edible flowers, sporuted forest floor seeds & shaken tree nuts.

<img src="{{#staticFileLink}}8191635891,original{{/staticFileLink}}" their bodily secretions.

<img width="640" src="{{#staticFileLink}}8191636876,original{{/staticFileLink}}" forriage in their traditional fertile woods - most of these woods have been killed to make way for the increasing animal consumers.

it is now illegal for a witch to inhabit the woods of her entire ancestory,

<img src="{{#staticFileLink}}8191637073,original{{/staticFileLink}}" woods.

a witches botanical diet was the 801010 equalivant in the centuries past.

<img src="{{#staticFileLink}}8191636893,original{{/staticFileLink}}" I really appreciate their efforts to educate me and in an effort to continue along these lines I have some questions regarding some of the more specific laws and how I can best follow them.

For example, when I burn an animal on the altar as sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the lord as stated in Leviticus 1:13. What do you recommend I do if my neighbors complain? Should I smite them?

I have also been considering selling my daughter into slavery as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. How much do you think I can get for her in this day and age? Leviticus 25:44 clearly states that I may possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighbouring nations. I’ve been led to understand that this applies to Mexicans but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can’t I own Canadians?

Another area I could use help with is Leviticus 15:19-24, which states that I should not have contact with a woman during her monthly “uncleanliness.” Can you clue me in as to how I can tell when a woman is menstruating? I could ask but I don’t wish to offend anyone.

There is also the matter of my neighbour, he insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states that he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself?

In Leviticus 21:20-21, it states that if one has a defect in their eyesight they cannot approach the altar of your god. I have a friend who needs glasses only for reading, does she need 20/20 vision or is there some wiggle room here?

Then there are my male friends who get frequent haircuts, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Leviticus 19:27. How should they die? I know also from Leviticus 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig will make me unclean, but this doesnt bother me & my heathen friends because we are all 801010 raw vegans.

Last but not least Leviticus 19:19 has me wondering. First of all what will happen to the food supply when all the farmers who plant different crops on the same field are properly punished? The verse also states that one should not wear garments made with two different kinds of thread. I have a friend who is fond of a cotton/polyester blend, should I kill him? If I try to kill him using the method suggested in Leviticus 24:14, I may run into problems, most folks are just too busy to coordinate for a public stoning. Would it be O.K to use the method in Leviticus 20:14 and just burn him to death at a private family affair? I know this method is generally reserved for people who sleep with their in-laws but it would definitely be easier than planning a town stoning.

I appreciate your time and dedication, may your paradise be filled with harp strumming angels and lots and lots of your gods love,

your local neighbourhood 801010 raw VEGAN witch since 1692.

love for mother nature - to respect her is to also respect the body she created for us.

Mother Nature specifically designed our unique bodies to thrive on a raw vegan 801010 diet, when we honor her by mainitng her diet, our bodies start waking up to the powerful symbiotic relationship between a healthy body &
