It's time to crank out the fluro speedos, and come join us for a vegan picnic!!! We didn't hold any over winter and spring due to the hit-and-miss weather. But now that it's summer, it's time for us to have some fun in the sun!! We will hold it on Sunday, December 11 at the usual spot at Hyde Park (the south-east corner, which is the corner of Glendower and William Street). We'll kick things off at 1pm.

We will set up a slackline for anyone keen to test out their balancing skills. Plus we'll have frisbees and balls to play with. There's plenty of shade there under the big trees. So even if it's a super duper hot day, it will be a perfect place to chill out :)

For those who ...have never been to one of our picnics before, please come!! Everyone is super friendly. And even if you want to rock up wearing speedos, we won't judge you too much ;)

As for food, because everyone eats so differently, people just generally bring their own food to eat. It can be fruit, lentils, sandwiches, veggies, oreos, cake - whatever! As long as it's vegan, it's fine :). And if you feel like bringing a plate to share, then by all means feel free to do it (but you totally don't have to).

And any family/friends/pets are welcome! Even if they're not vegan, they're still welcome (but just make sure they bring something vegan to eat out of respect to everyone else there).

Ok, so that's about it! I've got to duck off to buy some speedos, but I'll catch you all on Sunday ;)

speedo 2.jpg

Hello everyone,

As some of you may know, I am an author of the book The Interconnectedness of Life (and many more books in the future), filmmaker and vegan educator. I have a youtube channel with almost 2.5+ million views and 8000 subscribers and many websites. I've been vegan since 2009 and eat almost entirely raw (fruit mostly) for several years, eating cooked vegan on occasion.

I grew up and currently live in Toronto, Canada for the past 33 years, but I've always wanted to live somewhere tropical, and Australia was always my dream. I am planning and doing research on how it is possible to move to Australia from Canada, and it is pretty hard due to all the idiotic government policies, etc., which I believe is due to capitalist/herding society.

I earn a little from the work I do (writing, YouTube, donations websites, etc.), but I can survive on minimal as my lifestyle is very minimalistic. I am seeking connections in Australia with vegans and fruitarians (more ethical/spiritual minded people) who I can live with who can get me into Australia.

I got a lot of tips and information from a few people and looking more or less at the area of Cairns or Mareeba, but anywhere Northern Australia where it is warm all year round (17+c) is preferable. My dream is to live in Australia. Therefore, I am willing to live just about anywhere, temporarily, to get me in. Now I know Australia is not for everyone, and there are always pros and cons to living in any country, but my heart tells me I need to move there, I need a change from the crummy weather here in Canada.

I would appreciate anyone assisting in getting me into Australia and living there. Any connections or information would be much appreciated.

Best way to contact me is by email at bookings@michaellanfield.com or WowApp (which is similar to Skype and free) https://www.wowapp.com/w/michaellanfield/Michael-Lanfield

Thank you.

Ok, so I'm a bit late on the draw - World Vegan Day was more than two weeks ago. But hey, World Vegan Day is so awesome that it deserves to be celebrated more than just once a year! So come join us on Sunday, November 22 for a vegan picnic at Hyde Park. There will be slacklines, frisbees, and some rad vegans to mingle with. Pets are welcome. And if you have any omni friends or family, bring them along too! At least they'll finally realise we're not just some sort of weird cult. Maybe we should bring along a sacrificial banana to freak them out haha.

If you've never been to one of these picnics before, the plan is quite simple - just bring your own food to eat, and enjoy the good times :) It's a great way to meet like-minded people and form some really strong friendships.

We will set up on the south-east corner of Hyde Park (corner of Glendower and William street). The picnic will start at 1pm, and it usually runs until 5.30ish. And if anyone's keen to get their hands on documentaries such as Cowspiracy, Forks over Knives, Hungry for Change, Earthlings, and Food Inc, I'll bring along some thumb drives to give out :)

I hope to see you all there!!

One to change it, and one to check for animal ingredients.

Yes, if you want to hear this and many more awesomely lamo jokes, come join us at our monthly picnic this Sunday!! We will set up from 1.30pm at Jubilee Park, which is just opposite City Beach. This means that whenever you get too hot (or tired of my jokes), you can just mozy on down to the beach for a refreshing swim :)

We will set up some slacklines for you to test your balance on, and also have a frisbee to play with if you're keen for a throw.

So same deal as usual - just bring your own food to munch on. And bring anyone you want along! Even if you're not vegan but just want to chill... with us, you are most definitely welcome :) We will be set up under the trees, so there'll be plenty of shade. Just call me on 0412 244 834 if you get lost. Jubilee Park is the smaller park on the corner of Jubilee Cres and Challenger Parade. We will be there until 6pm, so even if you come late, that's totally fine.

If you're new to the group and a bit nervous about meeting everyone ... don't be! We are all super friendly and uber keen to meet any newbies.

Not convinced yet? Ok, here's one more joke for the road ....

Q: What do you call a vegan post-punk band?
A: Soy Division.

Wow, these jokes are getting painful. Please come this Sunday to help save me from the lameness!!

Catchya soon :)

We will set up underneath some trees at Jubilee Park, which is the park opposite City Beach (same spot as last month's picnic). So then he devised a plan to get rid of the snakes on the plane? I think it was called: The plane that experienced mid-flight drama that was soon resolved by a brave man.

Anyway, the main actor from that - Samuel L Jackson - has gone vegan, and what better way to celebrate than holding our monthly picnic at the beach this Sunday!!

So come along to hang out with the rest of the crew for some fun in the sun :) The forecast is for 33 degrees, so we will hold it at Jubilee Park, which is just across the road from City Beach. It's the park wher...e the organic co-op used to be last summer. We will set up under the trees for some nice shade.

Thom will also be setting up his slackline, so you can test out your balancing skills. And we will also bring along a frisbee to throw and any other fun things. Or if you prefer to just chill, you can relax on the picnic blankets. Then whenever we get too hot, we can walk across the road for a dip in the ocean :)

If you're new to the group and haven't met the peeps yet, please come along! Even if you're not vegan but just want to learn more, you are most definitely welcome :) We are all super friendly, and understand everyone is on their own unique journey. Some of us are fruit-based raw vegans, others are more into the cooked vegan side, while others are still deciding which way to go. Whatever you are, it doesn't matter, just come along and chill with some like-minded people. And because everyone eats differently, just bring along your own food to eat :)

So we will set things up around 1pm, and I'm guessing we'll be there until 5ish. There's a small playground in the park, so if you have kids, bring them along too :)

If you can't find where we are set up, just give me a buzz on 0412 244 834.

Hope to catch you all there!!

It's called the anti-rain dance move. If I pull it off correctly, the rain will stay away while we have our monthly picnic :)

So come along to King's Park this Sunday from 1pm to join us for some fun in the sun! Instead of our usual spot at Synergy Parkland, we will meet at the park called the Pioneer Women's Memorial to make the most of the free jazz music on offer. After all, I need some good music to be able to pull of this extraordinary dance move ;)

Legend has it that only two men have ever attempted the anti-rain dance move before - Superman and Chuck Norris. They did it in a dance-...off. The loser had to wear their underwear on the outside.

Anyways, back to the picnic ... everyone is welcome! Even if you're not vegan yet, please still come along and meet the crew :) And because everyone has their own specific dietary preferences, just bring along your own food to munch on to make things easier.

We will set up maybe around 60m in front of the music stage. We will be the group surrounded by heaps of fruit lol. But if you can't spot us, just give me a call on 0412 244 834 and I can point you in the right direction :)

The Pioneer Women's Memorial park is along Forrest Drive, overlooking the Swan River. There's a big fountain in the middle, and the grass is quite sloped. It's quite easy to find. Here is a map for it. http://www.bgpa.wa.gov.au/kings-park/events/events-calendar/location/3-pioneer-women-s-memorial

If you get lost, Chuck Norris can help guide you in the right direction. Well it's come to that time of the month again No, I'm not talking about that one day of the month where I take a shower. I'm talking about our monthly fruity picnic!! It will be on SUNDAY, Feb 23.

We will meet at the usual park opposite Trigg beach (Clarko Reserve). There's plenty of shade there. And once your hands get too sticky from eating fruit, we can just wander into the water for a totally refreshing beach shower. You can call me on 0412 244 834 if you can't find where we're sitting.
Or you can also try Isabelle (0437 183 551) as she is normally there the earliest. We will probably be there until sunset, so feel free to pop down at any time.

And don't be shy if you haven't met the crew yet. We are all super friendly (except when we're hungry). It would be great to meet all of our new members who have joined recently. And join our facebook page - Fruity in WA - as that is where we mainly do all of our organising.

Peace out :)

After years of struggling financially and for variety and quality here in Perth in order to maintain a high raw plant based diet and meet my nutritional needs I have decided that it is time to start a co-op.

Meeting with the group on Sunday, seeing new faces and some old friends really made me think what a waste of time and money the last three years have been. We very quickly realize what we are supposed to eat for optimal health when we come across the right information, but sometimes, living in Perth, we have to compromise. Everyone deserves to eat right - without compromise.

We should all be doing so with as few limitations as possible. Of course Perth being the most isolated city in the Southern Hemisphere and in all cases a complete rip-off when it comes to buying fresh produce as an individual, we really do have a hard time trying to eat food that is in compliance with our physiology; food otherwise referred to as ripe, raw, organic, whole plant foods. Through organization we can remove these limitations and have direct and year long access to what Perth and the rest Australia has to offer.

Perth, locally, is great for citrus, dark leafy greens, figs (my favourite!), tomatoes, peas and beans, melons and other varieties I'm sure, but then we have access to Canningvale Markets. Canningvale has two organic suppliers - Organic Fresh and Western Biodynamics. The Carnarvon Region will provide us with a consistent source of Biodynamic bananas at least. We can also get dates from Central Australia and I'm sure we could even find a supplier of Australian coconuts. The diverse environment of Australia can provide us with much variety, if we can source it and establish a relationship with the growers. Think mangoes, custard apples and even Jackfruit!

To gauge everyone's interest and process everyone's ideas I would like to proceed by starting a mailing list. Please send your name and e-mail address to sean@growingearth.org along any source of food you know of (local, online, even places that you forage). This co-op is only viable if we have enough people who will consistently order each week and if we have access to a variety of sources year round.

I recently spent time in Houston, Texas and made some order's from Kristina's "Rawfully Organic" Co-op. She has truly done a magnificent job. We can always look to her for support and ideas. When you get your food like this it really takes the stress out of thinking about what your going to eat and where your going to buy it.

Then we have the logistic considerations; having a suitable vehicle for making pick-ups from the suppliers, having a location where everyone can come to in order to sort out the boxes (or shares as they are usually referred to as) and for people to the take their shares home. We will need volunteers every week in order to make this work.

I know some of you prefer to use facebook, I don't so I will try to build a website specifically for this as soon as possible. Any ideas for the domain name?

I like plantfoodperth.org

send me your suggestions and lets get the ball rolling. I am willing to take a leadership role but I may be shifting to South East Asia next year and would definitely like to get something established for us here in Perth before I go.

By the way - anyone 30BAD who sees this and is part of the facebook group, please copy and paste it there.

Sean

And I look forward to meeting many more fruit peeps :)

And remember, everyone is welcome. Don't think you have to be 100 per cent raw vegan to join the crew. We are all on our own journey, and are at varying stages in relation to our diet.

The main point of this group is to connect more like-minded people together, and to encourage each other to achieve our potential.

Anyway, enough sappy stuff from me. I'll post another pic at the end of summer. Just reminding you all about Sunday's fruit picnic at Kings Park. (This Sunday, October 6).
It also doubles up as Ash and Kyah's birthday, so it's an extra special one!

Same deal as usual, just bring your own food to munch on and enjoy the good times. We will meet on the big grassy area of King's Park close to Fraser's restaurant. It's right near the whispering wall, war memorial and that flame thingo.

Come anytime from 230pm. I'll be running maybe 20 minutes late, so if you're there on time and can't see the group, just give Kyah a call on 0403 724 903 because she'll be there. You can also try me on 0412 244 834.

I'll catch you all then! Feel free to bring anyone and everyone :) And for those who are not part of the facebook page, join up to Fruity in WA!! We have way more interaction on there. It will be this Sunday, July 28 at 2-5pm

As much as I love the rain, I thought it would be best if we kept this picnic indoors. So instead of the beautiful surrounds of Kings Park, my pad in yokine will have to do :)

But it's ok. You can say hi to our friendly backyard rats. Or try to make friends with that one mouse in the house that we (or our two dogs) haven't been able to catch yet. So feel free to pop on over for a rawsome good time! Hope you find the time to share maybe your own expirience :)

My boyfriend, is moving to Bundaberg in 18 november, to work for some years. We have been together for 4 years and really happy. I was planning to follow him in december or january.

Yesterday I found out that fruit has a lot on life power and i'm pregnant :) I'm haveing a 811 baby :D I really happy about it but at same time a bit confused. Would i be ok to give birth in Australia? If a wanna a water birth, yoga, good fruit and so, can you give me some suggestions :)

Sunshine, love and seasonal fruit!

Kaija
