Well, i actually did end up making it here this year. Anyone else here ???. I'm staying at the Jay Guesthouse on Ratchapakinai Rd for one more night. 70 baht a night. Shitty Wi-Fi signal up on the 3rd floor, and had to chain my bike up on the footpath. Looking for somewhere slightly better for 100 baht or less to spend tomorrow night.So, is anbody else here, and where are you all ?

Cycling Challenge

My fruity friends,

I decided to challenge myself to prepare for the cycling to come in Thailand. I've been documenting my progress in a you tube type diary. Link below to day one if anyone is interested (funny on occasions, although I'm not sure if it's suppose to be!!! especially day 3)

I was thinking of doing a kind of Strava challenge starting from June to see how many meters I can climb. In the hope it will be good training to get me up the Mountain I saw in Durianriders Videos.

Anyone else interested? I'm overweight and unfit so I shouldn't be too difficult to beat. I think it would be much more fun if a few people, or more, were taking part. It would be good for motivation. Anyone else taking a bike to Thailand?

My diet (in the traditional sense, I don't do conventional "diets") is mainly raw with good fruit juice (nothing added) and dried dates. I suspect other good dried food will also be included because I've got my eye on some nice dried mango I saw the other day.

Can this festival be used to promote vegan pet food?

As this is the Raw Till 4 festival does this mean cooked food can/will be eaten? If so can you bring dogs to this festival? And if it's a self catering fest then presumably you can feed them as you go? It would be great to have an Asian festival where dogs are treated as beings worthy of existence given the great contempt they are treated with throughout much of the continent.

But in any case the Raw Till 4 lifestyle is most ideal for living with vegan pets as raw vegan cats is still a very unexplored area and getting enough organic fruit for one human is hard enough let alone feeding a large dog as well. So the cheapest vegan foods for humans of grains, legumes and vegetables are also the most practical for vegan pets.

Perhaps the festival could include a talk on this subject as so many people (including a lot of vegans) are still very uninformed/opposed to vegan pet food.

Here are a selection of videos covering the subject:

The first is Freelee and Durianrider covering the basic science, moral issues and buying options when feeding vegan dogs.

The second is Vegan Zombie showing a vegan dog food recipe. You don't necessarily need that many ingredients but it shows dogs can eat a wide variety of vegan foods.

The third is Happy Healthy Vegan showing a vegan cat food recipe.

The last one is a video exposing Thailand's dog meat and skin trade. It contains some unpleasant images but nothing bloody or graphic. In the dog sanctuary it shows the dogs appear to be eating boiled grains or something similar.

At the moment I have plans to be in Thailand just on those dates

But seriously if you keep me updated with the information I will try to make it. I would prefer to have it somewhere more in the south of Thailand because it is easier for me to get there than Chiang Mai. I have some property in Hua Hin, which is way far from CM. I'll be in BKK this Friday, so if you're still somewhere not too far away I'd like to meet you...let me know.

Hi all sweet tooth's!

I'm very excited about the Fruit Festival and in Thailand too! I'm wondering when it will be because i'm planning on a trip to Thailand next year! It would be amazing to join!

I think it would be so cool if we could all offer workshops/classes maybe in exchange for fruit?? I teach Yoga and Dance, my boyfriend teaches CrossFit - we would love to get involved if people are interested!
