Hey Guys! My name's Nika, I'm 20 and completely new to the raw till 4 lifestyle. I'm looking to get started, but am a little bit unsure of how to go about it. In the meantime, I'm keen to make new friendships, as well as find a bit of support and guidance from like-minded people :) I was wondering if anyone was keen to meet up/hangout anywhere in Sydney? I just found out the Hawkesbury Harvest folks have put out apps for iTunes and Android. Use the term Farm Gate Trail to look for it.

They offer a list of farms with pick-your-own facilities. Each location has a calendar of what fruit is available when as well as location and open times info.

There are farmers offering apples, figs, persimmons, blueberries, nuts and more.

Moving to Sydney - Questions (answers needed :-) )

so we're planning to move to Sydney (from NZ) in the next couple of months.

I have visited 7 times over the last 8 years (between 1 and 7 days each time) and I love the city.

Obviously there are a lot of things to organise (besides work stuff), such as selling our house and most of our stuff (as nothing is really that valuable to make it worthwhile shipping it over).

One of my tasks was to look into the question of "where to live". We would like to rent a house (or apartment with garden) with 2+ bedrooms. We don't need a fancy kitchen, but it has to be clean and tidy, ideally with heatpump/AC. We have a cat which we love more than anything and we'll be bringing him to Aus, so the place needs to be suitable :-).

I looked at suburbs and really like the sound of St Ives, Frenchs Forest, Chatswood, etc. I realise they are a bit further away from the CBD (where we will be working, most likely), but I need some green stuff around me and some peace and quiet.

1. what other suburbs would you guys recommend for our situation (2 people, 1 cat; prefer outdoors over bars/restaurants; beach over museums; farmers markets over cafes)? Ideally I would prefer to pay a maximum of $700/week.

2. I have seen recommendations to live 'close' to a train rather than bus for public transport, what are your opinions? what kind of travel times do I need to accept?

3. Can you recommend some good farmers markets in those northern suburbs I mentioned above? How easy is it to shop at a wholesale market?

4. How bikeable is Sydney? We both love riding bikes, but more for fun, not serious cycling :-). We're considering getting bikes once we move there. Are there lots of bike lanes in the city or just the CBD? (I never paid attention while I was there)

I've never been involved in a City to Surf, but was thinking this year would be a great time to start.

Anyone here going? I would love to be apart of a team, although im very unfit so it's likely i wont be able to keep up, but i will be training alot for it soon and currently i bike everywhere.

I was wondering if anybody here still gets the home delivery service from EB organics?
I sent an email to Sarah but haven't heard back yet.. I saw a pricelist from last year that one of
the members posted and the prices look great - I get some organic delivery from Abundant Organics
and while I find the quality is generally very good if I used them for my whole weekly diet I would have to take out a second mortgage!
