I have no other place to store my massive amount of fruit!I want to put shelving and a mesh cart with drawers. Just wondered if the fruit would still ripen this way?

I think it would ripen great, though I've never done it. Moisture build up may become a problem, you can buy bags of charcoal made to take the moisture out of closets, that might help, also a small fan or if you can fit a dehumidifier in there too. Hopefully someone else has actual experience with this, congrats on your fruit closet! :)
