I do feel that I do not need to wash my hair as much, or lotion as much, but I cannot just quit both and go to water.Currently, I use shampoo, conditioner, toner, lotion, along with foundation, bronzed, blush, mascara, eyeshadow, eyebrow pencil, and eyeliner. It's a lot, but what is the easiest to ween off of or which should I prioritize going organic first? Thanks again!

If it's vegan - it's fine in my books. I'ld like to think only purchasing the vegan products may sway brands to change other formulations with vegan alternatives.

However I'm open to different brands and what people to have options. But I will not sacrifice quality and effectiveness in a product just because it is vegan.

I know a lot of vegans are pretty hardcore on using 100% organic and 100% chemical free products, and not wearing makeup. I completely respect that and think it's awesome if you do it.

However, myself, in my discussions with non-vegans when they are confronted with something like that the think it's too "hardcore".

"If can't wear makeup, if I want to be vegan? Well, I suppose I won't do that... That's just too hard"

In some way I blame a minority of vegans for this. Some vegans will just attack meat-eaters for all of their life choices, that won't get them on your side. Isn't the main goal in getting as many people vegan as possible? You catch more flies with honey than vinegar (no flies were harmed).

Obviously everything comes down to education and exposure.

There are a lot of fantastic vegan brands out there that people just don't know about. This is usually because they are small businesses started at home. They don't have the money for advertisement on TV, popular magazines and sending free samples to every YouTube Beauty Guru out there to review.
Doing a quick search on YouTube you can't really find all that much.

I'ld say a lot of my purchases before going vegan were made by watching reviews by YouTube Beauty Gurus - they were a big influence They were real people, not advertisements, with real opinions which I valued.

This is why I'm planning on creating a completely vegan beauty channel on YouTube in 2013. If I have to do it by myself I will. But I'ld rather there be a team of people, those who use only raw vegan skincare, as well as vegan makeup. I want people to know they have a choice. They won't know unless someone shows them.

I've only been vegan for just under a year, 80% raw for 4 months.
In this time I've been kicking one addiction after another - meat, cheese, milk, soy, dairy alternatives, over-processed foods, sodium, caffeine, refined sugar and most recently nuts.

It hasn't been easy.

I still live at home with my family, a lot of meat-eaters who criticize my eating (and the vegan/eco-friendly products I buy and use) at an hourly rate. I only have one vegan friend who I can go out with to vegan restaurants and talk about vegan things without being attacked, or for being in fear of being attacked.

Obviously changing to this lifestyle you start to learn more and more about the impact of being a vegan, or not being one, ethically for the animals, sustainability for the environment and health for ones self.

I've learnt how much I used to waste (and kind of still do, takes a while to break bad habits). I would buy mountains of products and just chuck them away when I got bored of them, usually because I bought them on impulse, something advertised on the TV or in a magazine or a YouTube Beauty Guru - didn't care what they contained as long as they looked and smelt pretty.

So I come to a bit of a dilemma, should I throw away all my non-vegan non-cruelty free makeup and beauty products (not that it's a bit collection), be wasteful and replace them with vegan alternatives right now, or should I use them up and replace each product as I go, similarly to how I transitioned from being a meat-eater to a raw(ish) vegan in 1 and 1/2 years?

I can look back to when I was 15 (6 years ago) I went though the "natural stage" and chucked everything I had, didn't wear makeup only used 100% organic and chemical free products. It didn't last long - I hated it.

I've transitioned my tooth care (brush and tabs) and most of my haircare to vegan cruelty free and will attempt to use up the rest of my makeup (next will probably be foundation) however I calculate it will take me years to finish them - what will the affects be from toxins, especially recently learning that a lot of the lipstick I have apparently contain lead!

Whatever happens it will be an interested journey to record - I plan on doing Make Up Tutorials and Reviews using ONLY vegan products on YouTube in 2013.

Let me know your thoughts, what did you do?
