Maybe doesn't sound so exotic to most of you, but what about Southern Spain and Andalusia? I've been living there for the past ten years, and beside the advantage of being part of Continental Europe (easy travel and no visa/immigration problems for EU citizens), we get lots of subtropical fruits growing locally: mangoes, bananas, litchis, longans, passion fruit, avocados, white sapote, black sapote, guavas etc etc. And all the mediterranean fruits like figs, melons, watermelons, and also plums, peaches, apricots and so much more. Only truly tropical fruits don't do well here unfortunately, but no poisonous snakes, mosquitoes and so on like you usually get in the tropics...

Want to try it out, come check out the Raw Fruit Festival www.raw-fruit-festival.net from August 28 to Sept 3 in Andalusia, southern Spain, maybe you'd like to join. Early bird discount if registration confirmed before June 1st!

Local organic veggies and fruits, picked ripe, mangoes, bananas, figs, melons, litchis, watermelons.

Outdoor activities, fitness, biking, capoeira, yoga, running, river, hiking...

Hope to see you there

Cheers

The schooling lasts 3 years (2,5 years left). Then I definitly go somewhere else. But I also think about breaking it because it really don't make me happy. I'm in a really unhealthy inviroment here and it kinda makes me sick. I'm HCLFRV/RT4 already. I don't know if it makes sence to move on and get then a job I maby hate to do?!

On the other site it could be a door to a job that I MABY want to do. But at the moment my wish to just rest, start an advanture, just heal myself in a fruit paradise and doing what I really want to do. But if I move it has to be sustainable. I don't want to just move one year abroad and then have to go back to germany.

Well I have plans for the holidays (February 2016).

Gotta say its a pretty good place to live, i'm almost afraid to leave. so many fruits, its a learning experience being here, and a great place to grow spiritually. The land where the Pangaia Community began which is now the 80/10/10 community which Douglas Graham has a share of and also many other fruit farms and communities of old. I've been here in Kapoho area of Puna for about 2 years and i'm still discovering new Banana Patches and Jackfruit Orchards.

But be careful, the locals may grouch at you for entering the Territory of the Hawaiian Kingdom, Which i gotta say we did take it unrighteously as we did with the Native Americans. But it is the Righteous and the meek that shall inherit the earth and not the blood race of those who claim to have gotten here first!

the Community focus is wonderful and seems to grow deeper with every waxing of the moon, even in the onslaught of Corporate Babylon creeping its way ever closer to The Shire. There are so many Farmers markets every week and some even twice weekly. Many Farms grow enough fruit to put up an eternal fruit-stand where you are trusted to pay the amount mentioned into the money box, without anyone there but you. but please do pay! for there is always one in the secret place of the most high watching, and your guilt in yourself is your condemnation. you can literally pick up fruit from the stands as you drive along, or walk, throughout the ... um ... world. The University of Hawaii has many abandon experimental farms from decades ago that are full of durian, and cacao, rambutan, and so many more.Get to know the people who've lived here for decades too and you may be able to work on their land and help them out in exchange for some of their produce.

Remember Hawaii is an island, a very isolated island, in the middle of a big ocean. Self Sufficiency in this seemingly small area of landmass has been the central focus since its first discovery. And this focus lives on!

A few weeks ago I moved to Santa Cruz, California, from the Washington, DC, metro area (have lived most of my life in Maryland). One of the main reasons was to be closer to where more produce grows. The other reasons all relate to the lfrv lifestyle too in that they're all about an increase in my happiness and health (more sun, friendlier culture, more natural/green/health-conscious people, near the beach, etc.)

Practically every day since living here I've discovered yet more exciting surprising reasons why Santa Cruz is awesome. If you're into nutrition (or surfing, the beach, kindness, art, casualness, skating, mild weather, mountains, hiking, etc.) it's an AWESOME spot. I was all set on Hawaii, then Costa Rica, then picked this when those fell through, and though those sound incredible too, I love that's it's closer than those to certain perks and people of most of the U.S.

The produce is the most tasty, flavorful, varied, more often ripe, and colorful I've ever experienced. There are many ways to get it cheap or free. Most of the U.S.' produce comes from right around here in Central Cali. So most of it is local - and organic! The farmers market is huge and gorgeous, there are all these farms within driving distance, and weather's great for growing your own year-round. There are tons of fruit trees and gardens around, so many vegan menu options, awesome nutrition/ sustainable ag projects like at colleges and schools, highly-renowned organic farming education, low on violent crimes, etc.

And I could go on. Feel so at home here I just wanna tell you 30badders about this hidden gem. If you visit or live here, feel free to let me know so we can hang out :)

(P.S. I already posted this elsewhere on 30bad but thought it'd be good to copy and paste it for this group too - hope that's not annoying.)
