For most of my life I was raised on fast food and soda. It is a really sad beginning because my parents didn't really understand how to raise me and my sisters on a healthy diet. Resultantly, I have struggled with my weight for my entire life. Only through rigorous exercise have I been able to lose weight, which wasn't sustainable in my current lifestyle. All of my life I have heard that fruits and vegetables are good for you but that was never reflected in the way my family lived and ate. I was never truly educated about physical fitness or diet and I have been struggling my entire life to find a way to sustain my own health. Of course, being raised in the southern United States doesn't help because of our reputation for BBQ, fast food and beer. In the past year, I have read a lot about different diets. Through reading books like 'Eat to Live', Dr. Ornish's book and various others, I decided to become a vegetarian. After another week, I decided to become a vegan... From that time, I wish I could say that I have never looked back but I reverted to being vegetarian. Unfortunately, I am still overweight in spite of becoming a lot more physically active. After spending sometime on youtube and looking up raw food diets out of curiosity, I stumbled upon a video of Freelees. Since that time, I have watched many of her videos, the liferegenerator's videos and the RawBrahs. These people have inspired me and allowed me to realize that a LFRV lifestyle is really sustainable. With all of that in mind, I decided to go LFRV. I threw out all of the cooked food in my house on that day but have since slipped up because of not knowing how to keep grocery costs down. Now, I am focusing on being LFRV/811!

  • No doubt, I can't get to breathing to hard in the cold, I'll have an asthma attack. So ready to move to Costa Rica. You seem familiar, like I've seen you on facebook or maybe you work at Whole Foods? I'm known as banana boy at Whole Foods, I don't think anyone in Alabama besides me buys bananas by the case, lol.
  • Thank you for the request, it's so good to finally see someone on here from my area! Maybe we can get together sometime and go hiking or biking...
  • Well,i might have made you laugh Rachel, but it seems like i was more offensive than humorous, especially after my comment about Durian,I better keep my mouth shut in future.

Yes,I hope you can explore the world and experience the vast array of different fruits,as well as unusual varieties of avo.I once came across this huge avocado tree in north queensland with masses of very large avocados on it,when they ripened they were so oily one could only tolerate a small amount at a time,I guess they would fit in the 'overt' category quite well.

Well,I hope you sort out the cooked food craving, maybe its not such a bad thing if you had some then it might turn you off more and increase the desire to stay raw???.

    All the best.

  • HaHa........yes,there's actually thousands of varieties, some as big as footballs, commercially though, only a handful are cultivated.

Take it easy, dont freak out about the cooked food cravings,if you had some, there's a good chance you wont want any again for awhile.
