Seeking discussion on the interaction between the modern human experience and eternal nature/wilderness. If I reveal any of my own opinion or perspective in this first post, it is only accidentally; because I have questions, not answers.
We use this language:
- What would people eat if they were 'In Nature?'
- How much water do humans drink 'In Nature?'
- Exercise, socialization, sex, recreation... 'If they were In Nature?'
- How much do people get sick In Nature?
- etc.
Questions to consider:
- Are we not actually In Nature right now?
- Exactly at what point is a human being no longer In Nature? Historically, practically?
- Should we adapt to modern circumstances or is there an imperative to return?
- What intrinsic value is there to any given method of living as In Nature?
- Is everything unnatural bad? In relation to human behavior and knowledge specifically? If not, then why is distance from a Natural state often cited as a poor quality?
- Conventionally grown fruits, toothpaste, cars, computers eg. have all been deemed unnatural by various parties. Shall we rid of them? If not, what value is there in still trying to understand how to be Natural? What is the nature of the balance to be struck?
