One of our group is looking at your HCLF advice and is a little confused. It may be due to the size of average Australians vs Filipinos. Can you help us with this calculation?
Here is the confusion:
DurianRider states often 10grams of carbs per kilo of bodyweight.
The lady asking the question is 4 feet 3 inch tall. 27 years old in fairly good shape (she runs the Talisay 10K every year!). She weighs 34Kg. This is the calculation we did using what DurianRider said:
34Kg times 10grams of carbs = 340g of carbs times 4 calories = 1,360 calories
34Kg X 10g X 4cal = 1360 calories
Did we do that right?
But since this is only carbs or 80% we added 136 calories (10%) for fat and 136 calories for protein.
1,360+136+136= 1,632
34Kg X 10g X 4cal = 1360 carbs + 136 protein + 136 fat = 1,632 calories
Is that correct?
She says 1,632 is much more than what she eats now! It will be hard for her to eat that amount. Now here is the confusion...
Freelee says women should eat a minimum of 2,500 calories. This tiny little woman thinks that 1,632 is going to be very hard to do, but 2,500 seems impossible?
Is this because of the average size of Australian women?
What is the 2500 number based on?
Looking at the 2,500 calories, 80% for carbs would be 2000 calories or 500 grams of carbs that DurianRider's formula says is good for a 50Kg woman.
50Kg X 10g X 4cal = 2000 carbs + 250 protein + 250 fat = 2,500 calories
34Kg X 10g X 4cal = 1360 carbs + 136 protein + 136 fat = 1,632 calories
We are NOT talking about calorie restriction. We are asking about the minimum for different sized people. Freelee would seem like a giant, standing next to this tiny little lady.
We are just wondering if 50Kg / 2500 calories is based on the average size of Australian women?
Can you help us sort out this confusion?
