For a while I was horribly afraid that this diet had one negative effect on my health: the dental. For months I got these grey stains that looks like dripping vertical streaks across my front teeth.
But now my teeth are as white and polished as ever. All I did was disregard what I'd heard about not brushing directly after eating--now I brush three times a day, after the most stick-to-your-teeth meals--and my evening brush is with a natural tooth paste (neem-containing). I think the tooth soap shreds I used weren't abrasive enough (I've read Mimi Kirk saying that, and that she uses a neem-containing toothpaste every other day--and her smile is beautiful).
So now I scrape my tongue first thing in the morning and brush with water, mid-day I brush with tooth soap shreds, and after last meal I floss and then brush with neem-containing natural toothpaste. I can't believe it was that easy! I hope I can start to reverse the cavity that started forming...
By the way, I started seeing big improvements from the toothpaste after just 3 days, and after 1 week ALL the staining was gone.
If you've had similar troubles, just experiment with small and obvious changes! I fixed my teeth just in time for a much-needed dentist appointment.

Just had that dreaded dental appointment and I have NO CAVITIES, NO TOOTH DECAY! That spot I thought was a cavity must have been a weird shadow. Dentist says they've never been better; he didn't even have any idea of how bad my teeth were stained just last month. And for the first time he told me I had a beautiful set of teeth.
I can confidently say that my body, mind and soul have no problem with any aspect of this lifestyle.

I just was diagnosed with a small cavity last week.
Am going to attempt to reverse it with raw plant consumption and go back in a few months to see if it still warrants filling or whether it has stopped.
Congratulations! My grandfather always drilled it into me that your teeth are a very important part of your health and maintenance. Ever since I stopped using the mainstream products and using more of the natural based toothpaste at Whole Foods, my teeth have been looking whiter, feeling stronger, and my gums have been improving tremendously (I used to have puffy red gums; on the borderline of gingivitis, no matter how much I brushed with the best products!)
Natural is the way to go, even for teeth! :B
UPDATE: I have used the tumeric 3 x and YES...it works!
My teeth are all pearly white! Whiter than usual. Quite a difference even after just 3 times.
And no pain like commercial whiteners.
Naturally, of course.
;-)
merci.

YAY!!
yah, just brushing with water by itself, with an oral-b tooth brush (with a charger) after every meal works well enough for me, and I mean after every single meal
also, don't even attempt to get off of toothpaste until your teeth are already sparkling white
Don't use toothpaste..
Turmeric powder
non-aluminum baking soda
sea salt
bentonite
These are all better, and cheaper..
I meant more along the lines of making sure to use a cleaning solution of some sort for the teeth (as long as it's been proven to work)
it's up to each individual to figure out what cleaning solution they want to use, I'm sure your solution will work, there's hundreds of different ideas out there for teeth cleaning solutions
I am loving the tumeric suggestion...will give it a whirl.
How often do you do these ?
1 x a day for 3-4 days?
2 x a day?
I did the commercial whiteners...AWFUL!! very painful sensitivity.
Would love an natural alternative.
Thanks!
