Dan seems like a nice guy, I'm sure his heart is in the right place but he does seem to be playing the market. It's a shame because he has lots of great information to give but when it comes on the back of financial priorities its somewhat diluted and kind of turns me off.
I have the unique perspective of being a YL customer, being new to this forum, and being relatively unfamiliar with Dan/Liferegenerator. My only connection to Freelee/Durianrider is having watched many of their videos. I've seen a handful of Dan's videos. I'm an avid fan of YL oils and the vegan-friendly products they carry, but as of right now, I do not sell them. So my viewpoint is somewhat objective.
I don't think it's exactly the same thing to say that he's selling those things, though if he's a vegan (I don't know if he is, I've only seen a few of his vids) it seems to me that he should at least post a warning on his site that people be aware, before they click his YL affiliate link, that vegans should carefully inspect the ingredients before buying certain YL products.
YL does have vegan and vegetarian friendly products, but obviously some of them are not. One could say "well, you shouldn't support any company that sells non-vegan products", and that's a very valid point. For me, personally, I couldn't buy anything if I did that. Every grocery store, health food store, and supplement store sells non-vegan products. I choose vegan-friendly companies when I can, and when I can't, I vote with my dollars (buying the vegan products).
Also, I don't know how Dan's website is set up, but most YL distributor websites are just a webpage they pay for through YL. Basically, it's just a funnel page--the distributor has no control over which YL products a customer is shown or sold. Now Dan's could be different, I haven't seen it, but I suspect it's similar to the ones I'm familiar with. Essentially, it's similar to having Amazon affiliate links on a blog. If you put Amazon affiliate codes/links on your blog/site, and that person clicks through, not only will you earn money on the vegan products you recommended, if the customer buys them, but on everything else that person buys for 24 hours. Stereos, leather shoes, hemp seed protein, whey powder, etc. You have no control over what Amazon offers or what the customer--who clicked through your link--buys. And you earn money on it all.
That said, you do make a good point about whether or not he should be an affiliate for that company. A hard-core vegan might not want to make that choice. If he does choose to, it seems that a warning is in order, as I said. Something to the effect of "while I recommend Young Living essential oils, as a vegan I do NOT recommend or endorse certain animal-based products. Please support our animal friends and do NOT buy non-vegan-friendly products through this affiliate link! If you plan to buy animal products, do not click!" That would be my personal recommendation for Dan. I understand that others might think he shouldn't do it at all.
Just my thoughts on the subject. :) I'm glad you brought it up, Durianrider, because it gave me food for thought, should I ever in the future consider selling Young Living products in the future, instead of just using them. Maybe there is a way to set up a store where one can only buy the vegan-friendly products. Or maybe it's better to skip being an affiliate altogether.
I'm pretty sure he's just a little dumb. Not the knowingly malicious demon some people might think he is. I mean he used to be a serious drug addict and is still weaning off the drugs. He's got a few screws loose. Not unusual in the raw food movement at all.
Keep on seeking the truth, guys. I never, ever say this, but I really can't judge this dude right now. He's been into some shady *&^% but it's too early to pass judgment
I didn't know that he was still using drugs. I know that it's hard for addicts to quit though. I myself just celebrated 1 year of being cigarette free :) I'm so proud and it's been SO hard. My sister is a recovering crack addict and I had to watch her go through that. That sociopath that I knew is my ex boyfriend and he was an alcoholic that couldn't function without alcohol. He would get sick and start to shake and have seizures if he didn't have it. That was a nightmare to go through. I'm so glad that I have all of that negative stuff away from me now.
You are right that Dan could just be slowed down from the drugs I guess I can see it because I saw what my sister was capable of when she was on that stuff.
Or maybe he just doesn't give a $#%@ anymore. I think something big will happen when he comes back from the WFF though. As he said in the video that things are about to change.
No good can come of bad. There is a legal maxim that says something similar like "No lawful benefit can be derived from unlawful activity". You steal something then sell it and then get hauled up for it you can't say "but I was making a profit". It ignores the harm done to the original person, and that is the meaning of the maxim ignorance is no excuse.
I just ran into this video. It was posted November 28 of this year. Dan clearly states in this video that he's not anti-meat. Well if you're not anti-meat then you're technically not vegan either. I know the video is hard to watch with all of Dan's ranting but pay attention to what he says in here. I think this video says everything that we need to know about this dude. He's gone off the deep end if you ask me.
Get to 8:10 and watch how Dan brags how he took 100 Capsules of Cognizine at once. Some of the ingredients are actually prescription medications in many countries. Dan takes 100 times the recommended dosage and brags about it like they were needed so he could ride 150 miles. Then he repeatedly encourages us to take them. Quote: "YOU NEED SUPPLEMENTS." Dan is a freaking idiot.
Suggested Adult Use: As a dietary supplement, take 1 tablet twice per day between meals, no later than 4pm. If recommended by a nutritionally informed physician 4 tablets per day may be beneficial.
Ingredients of Cognizine
Cognizine includes the following ingredients: Vinpocetine , Bacopa Powder, Ginkgo Biloba Leaf Extract, DHA Concentrate, DMAE, Korean Ginseng Root Powder, L-Glutamine, Phosphatidylserine, Huperzine, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Stearic Acid, Magnesium Stearate, Silicon Dioxide, Croscarmellose Sodium, and Decalcium Phosphate.
Yeah you're right. I think sometimes a supplement can help but they usually aren't needed and he's taking things to the extremes. These things can kill you if you take them like that. Certain supplements can cause heart attacks and stuff like that. He's being very dangerous and suggesting others to do the same. The claim that he needed that many to ride 150 miles was laughable to me because all that he needed was calories and some electrolytes. I think he's either delusional or he's a sociopath.
*Let me add now that if anyone wants to challenge me on the sociopath part, I've actually known one and once you have met one it's easy to spot another one. They can easily manipulate people and lie for their own personal gain. They make excellent sales people and they are wonderfully smooth talkers... doesn't this sound like him? I've never liked him but he seems to have a real nice following of "believers".
Jeez...! This whole thing has now completely melted down and now it's just a bubbling pool of stuff on the sidewalk and I'm wondering what the hell is it!?

I know this won't be the last we hear of Dan.

Edit: he's definitely lying though
