Life in Nebraska

I grew up in a farm town.. 'nuff said, right? When I told my family in my later teens that I thought killing animals for food was cruel, I literally got laughed at. I've lost friends because most of them are cattle farmers that "can't put up with me being so rude" <- What was said when I told my former best friend that I didn't want to go to a steakhouse with her. I personally called it a death house, so maybe I was in the wrong for being too blunt? Anyway... I've tried finding other people with similar views in my area...we're a rare breed. I guess I just wanted to say thank you to all of you for existing.

  • Hey,
I've just moved from the coast to a farm town in Australia. I can really relate to your post and have just joined this forum to try and find like minded people to keep me on track. At a local restaurant recently I ordered veggies and the peas had bacon in them!!! Oh man-I've got a looming way to go!
    Cheers,
    Anthony
  • I can relate to you very much. I live in a southern town in kentucky and it's hard to make friends because they all think I'm some sort of "radical hippy", plus originally being from canada doesn't help my case out here, I get called a yankee. =p thank you for existing too. Have you ever met another fruitarian in real life? I'm trying to convert some people so I'll have people to relate with but I've never "stumbled upon" another of our kind.

    • Ren,
Unfortunately, I have not come in contact with another fruit bat! :((( I want to go to the Woodstock Fruit Festival, but it's definitely something I would have to save up for!
