Good Bye - Harley Johnson
Whilst this board is pretty dead anyway i just want to state that I am leaving this site because I do not wish to be associated with anything that Harley Johnson is or has been involved in. He has been called out and found to be a very nasty piece of work (narcissist) and is causing a lot of pain to others, which is rich coming form a supposed Vegan. I wish everyone well and trust that you continue to enjoy cycling and being compassionate vegans.

Hey Marcais - its 'per see' not "per say"!
After my first two years on a road bike, I have just upgrade to a full carbon machine. I started out with a second hand aluminium Cube Attempt and managed to part exchange it with someone who bought the Cube Litening Pro last summer but wasn't using it (other than for a short commute). Definitely a step up for me as I couldn't afford one new and I thought I would have had problems selling my Attempt as it was a 2011 model. A real result, almost as if fate brought us together. Just in time for the weather change in the UK too. Happy days. :-)
Found this website through searching for more info on bike fitting
http://www.bikepro.com.au/diy-bike-fitting
Some really great info and really simple to follow and apply yourself - After some small adjustments and practise I'm already seeing results - less tired getting into work, a lot less back strain, almost no knee pain and better speed too when I put in the effort.
Getting ready to push my saddle forward more with an inline seatpost, drop the bars and get a longer stem.
Hey Nelsa, What kind of bike do you currently have? and do one want one with similar parts or something different? and what's your budget?
hello all I'm new to cycling , I'm looking to get an new bike, the bike have been using is great old refurbished on but i keep having problems with the chain,so i would rather just upgrade, new life new bike...lol.. any tips on whats good and wouldn't be to expensive ?
Can't wait for the spring racing season, any road racers out there? My team is going to training camp in Georgia this year in March, any from the area know some good climbs (for S.E. anyway) or must see locations there?
I'm a Roadie, I have 15 road bikes.....well I did. In the past 2 weeks I've sold 4 of them.
I've built up, rebuilt and sold about 12 this year. I made $ on all of them - which was the intention.
At present I have;
steel Lennie Rogers made in Aussie
steel NZ made Bauer single speed I've had since new for over 20 years
Scott CR1 Pro 2013 full carbon (my race bike)
Pinarello FP3 full carbon & full Campagnolo Record
Genius alloy / carbon with full mudguards (we day bike)
Malvern Star Oppy 3 full carbon (will sell it)
DBR alloy (will finish and sell too)
Steel Saronni from the 90s full Campagnolo
2 TEAM Raleighs from the 80s I'm restoring
I race and train a lot over similar roads and race courses here so its nice to have a different bike to ride as the the interesting variable.
Well the two free hub bearings arrived today and I fitted them in under 15 minutes. Very straight forward even without the special tool. having got the old bearings out and cleaned everything up I put the hub in the oven and the bearings in the freezer. I then lightly greased the contact surfaces and used a socket of the same diameter as the bearing combined with an old vice I had to bring them together.
Sadly I didn't see the tube in any detail Marcais as I was rushing to catch the start of the ride. My helper showed me the split just before it was thrown away.
With regards bike fit, this is the video that inspired me to question what is included in any bike fit before handing over cash:

The tubes don't decide the pressure - it's the tyre that decides the pressure and the max. pressure written on the tyre is close to half the pressure it would take for the tyre to be blown off - unless the tube slipped underneath the bead of the tyre and then pushed it off and popped. What part of the tube was the split on? the side or inside face?
Totally - I've never heard a fitter mention it once, they seem to just be concerned with some 'magic' angle of your knee and hip and maximising it if you're flexible enough. I've read and heard a lot of what Steve Hogg has to say about crank length and it doesn't venture into extra short ones at all.
