CALORIE RESTRICTION DR.GRAHAM VS 30 BANANAS A DAY

I was doing the 30 bananas day 811 approach where I would try eat at least
2500 calories of fruit a day. But I gained 10 lbs! Super stressful.

I just finished reading Dr.Grahams 80/10/10 diet book and he says for
someone my sex(F) and weight(140) should eat the weight they want X10 in
calories. So mine would be 125X10=1250 calories a day which is WAY more
restrictive than 2500.

Any thoughts? Thanks!

  • love Daniels response and the videos they are all really helpful . Although I think they should be a lot more visable and easier to find on the website. Because it might help many people how struggle and also contribut to an ever increasing number of fruiteaters :)

  • @Daniel (fruitsandnumbers)... I LOVED your post !!! Thanks SO much !

  • Never restrict your calories EVER whether you are on HCCV or HCRV, the people who say calorie restriction works are usually overweight which is a testament to it not working. A working program is something you can sustain for life and calorie restriction ain't it. If you want to stay on the diet merry-go-round then by all means restrict your calories but I know you don't want that. We do not recommend restricting your calories here at all. If you want to be a lean bean like myself and Harls then you must EAT UP and give it time! Also you must shift your focus off weight and onto getting fitter and healthier.

This is me 2 years into the lifestyle https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ws3tPCEiO6I after falling off the wagon once for a month and you cannot see my bottom half which is where I carry most my weight. Give it time.

    • thank you!

    • This is great, thank you Freelee. I think the issue is the length of time it takes to get into the shape you are in. 2 years and up would completely derail my career (an actress in LA) especially since I am 25 and would need to look in Hollywood's perception (as messed up and sick as it is) thin on camera. So 10 lbs in water weight is a big deal for me and my livelihood:( I don't want to yoyo any more and I am sick of it, but also cannot gain more weight for a long period of time. Also I don't have my will power locked down yet. So I can't see myself being 100% for the rest of my life and not having a slice of pizza in italy. How destructive is it to have a meal that is not HCRV and then continue with it after. I may be looked down upon for this honesty, but do I need to do this diet when I am at a place in my life where I am completely ok with weight gain and not being tempted at all by cooked foods once in a blue moon?:( or is once in a while better then getting off the lifestyle altogether. I love this ideology and nurturing diet but I wish I was one of those people who started losing weight instead of gaining. I know its because of the yoyo diets in the past but it feels like the end isn't in sight (at least not for months or a year.)

Freelee I adore you. I have read your book and have watched your videos. Its just my own development with my weight loss that is hard to deal with -especially in my line of work.:(

I appreciate your time, love, and support. I wish my psyche was unwavering about the calorie restriction.

  • Dr Graham says in his book that 10 X your body weight = calories your body needs just to function.  And that you need another 10 X your body weight in calories if you are active.  So you'd need about 2500 calories if you are young and active.

    • I'm looking at the passage now p.174. Thats for someone who is very fit and uses that many calories in a day already. For a woman who isn't active and weighs 130 lbs, she would need to eat 1,300 cals to simply maintain her body weight. She would need to add around 260cals for puttering around the house. But thats to maintain her weight. So you are right I would need to add some calories to my intake because I am very busy and never sedentary, but I also haven't had much time to go to the gym like I used to so I wouldn't be categorized in the very active.  ( Next week I won't be working as much and will be able to go to the gym much more. yay!) So all in all my cal intake still wouldn't be as high as 2500 at this point.

    • Also I have been recently diagnosed with Epstein Barr and vitamin D deficiency. The Epstein Barr makes it difficult to be active and only mild exercise is recommended because of the swollen spleen which tends to develop. So my enthusiasm for working out has been exhausting lol. But I will be attempting it again next week. Keep a good though:P
