The idea here is to create a veganwiki. We'd like this to be a science based wiki where people can go to get info on veganism. At the wiki we will be able to address all the nonsense that comes from various fronts in a very direct way with references to scientific works. Any of you who are familiar with running a wiki or have lots of scientific background regarding veganism would be ideal but all interested are welcome. We'll flesh out the basics here at 30bad. Once we have something worth putting out there, we will.
wiki development plan
here's what i suggest for starters:1. research existing vegan wikis and determine if we should do our own or join someone else's. i haven't looked, so i don't really know what's out there other than this:http://vegan.wikia.com/wiki/Vegan_Wikiso let's check things out.assuming we do this on our own wiki, we need appropriate software. i'll look into that as well as where to house the wiki.2. develop a core group of editors who are committed to doing the job. they will need to understand the wiki…

Welcome urielswords, nice to have you. Check out this site http://vegan.wiki.yt/en/Main_Page I think we have decided to focus our efforts here at least for now. I've made a few entries. There is a ton that could be done on this wiki. Thanks for joining.
Alright everyone, we may have a site we can work with which will eliminate the need to reinvent the wheel. I've had a nice reception at the site Prad & I have been discussing http://vegan.wiki.yt/en/Main_Page I invite you all to check it out. You may also want to check out Prad's development plan aspects (entry above) which we can apply while contributing material to this vegan wiki. There is pretty much a blank slate on this site. I invite all of you to go there and simply make an entry for your home location. I'll do one for Virginia in the US. I put a little in the Australia section and referred to 30bad but I'm sure there are Aussies that could do much better. Let me know what you all think about this wiki. If any of you need any help, let me know. It is pretty simple though, just go to the wiki and start working on something you know about. There is a ton of info we can put in there and it doesn't all have to have scientific references. At least check it out and post your thoughts. Thanks, Paul
the layout is better imho than the other one we looked at. also it is run using mediawiki which is a well-established open source software. i suggest you mention it in the wiki development plan discussion so it is easily referenced.

Hey All, have you seen this site http://vegan.wiki.yt/en/Main_Page ? It looks like a nice format and they seem pretty open to participation from all vegans. Prad I know you could vamp up the scientific end on this site big time but it might be a starting point.
Ok Prad. I will put some more energy into your initial suggestions and get back soon. Thank you sir.
youtube is a good idea of course. however, it is not searchable.
my interest in the wiki is to have a resource for vegans and activists to utilize.
eventually, the intention is to turn it into an expert system.
so i'm happy with whatever direction the group wants to go in, but the original idea is still something i'm going to be working - it may be a resource for the videos too.

Hey All, I am still interested in the vegan wiki but I'm wondering if there's is not more bang for the buck in terms of time and work in simply working on youtube. That seems to be the fastest most direct way to communicate with folks. A vegan wiki would be nice for vegans but in terms of getting message out to the broader community it seems like you tube is the way. I'm open to other views and Prad if you still want to do something with the software I'll participate. Hope all are well, Paul
Prad, You're the bomb. This is exactly the kind of thing I was looking for. I will invite him.
evolutionary changes occur as a result of generations. so usually the shorter the lifetime, the sooner the change. suffice to say that not a whole lot has happened to create significant evolutionary change in humans. :D
you may want to invite our resident paleontologist to this group:
The Humane Hominid
he's very knowledgeable on all this and runs an excellent blog too!

Can anybody tell me how long it takes for an evolutionary change to occur? Paleo has this argument that I know is wrong which states man has adapted to eating meat. The only digestive evolutionary changes I'm aware of when comparing primates is our enhanced starch digesting capacity which Dr. McDougal references. How long did it take for those changes to occur?
